Chapter 366: Chapter 367: A Smile That Crumbles (Part 5)

"Return... to whose home?"

"Of course, my home!"

If they went to her house, Grandma Wave would kick him out again. Today was the big day she agreed to his proposal. There was no way he would spend the night alone, right?!

He was talking about his place, but Vera Wave misunderstood, thinking he wanted to take her to meet his parents.

Meeting the in-laws so soon made her break out in a nervous sweat.

"No... there’s no need to rush, right? I’m... I’m not ready yet... it’s too late today, let’s do it another day? Honey... I’m so tired, let’s not go to your place today... in a few days... wait... the weekend... yes, yes, the weekend... I promise I’ll visit your uncle and aunt then!" She coaxed, swaying his arm, "Okay?"

Uncle and aunt?

Kris Cooper was momentarily stunned, then realized she misunderstood.

But since the little girl brought it up, he certainly wouldn’t refuse.

"The weekend?"

"Yes!" 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦

She nodded immediately.

It just so happened that his parents would be back for the weekend. It was about time they met his beloved little girl.

"Alright." Kris Cooper took out a printed document, handed it to her, and then reached over to wrap his arm around her waist, "Vera, will you stay with me tonight?"

Understanding his implication, Vera’s face turned red.

"But Grandma..."

"Just tell her you’re working overtime and won’t be home tonight, then we can go back to my place."

Staying out for one night was no big deal, but going to his place...

"Didn’t we just agree to go see your parents on Saturday?"

"We did agree!" Kris Cooper grinned mischievously, "When I said ’my home,’ I meant my other apartment, not the one with my parents!"

She sighed in relief, then quickly realized and playfully hit his chest.

"Kris Cooper, you big jerk, you did that on purpose, didn’t you?"

With her soft tap that wasn’t meant to hurt, he looked at the cute, pouting little girl in his arms, and felt a mischievous urge rising.

He raised her little hand to his lips, gently stroking the wedding ring on her finger with his thumb.

"Since the whole world knows about us, you have to meet my parents... after all, even the not-so-pretty daughter-in-law must meet her in-laws!"

"Am I ugly?"

She glared at him with a blush, questioning.

He looked at her seriously for a moment.

"Not really ugly, just sort of plain!"

"You’re awful!"

She raised her other hand to hit him again, but he caught it, placing both her hands on his waist, and she opened her arms to hug his waist. He brought his hands to hold her waist, and with a gentle squeeze, lifted her onto the office desk.

He leaned in, lowering his face to capture her rosy lips.

As she embraced his waist with closed eyes, tilting her face up, she parted her lips to let him in.

The kiss started soft and tender, but gradually deepened, as if he wanted to devour her.

His large hand kneaded her waist and back, crumpling her shirt in the process.

As he panted and nibbled on her lips, Kris Cooper spoke in a husky voice.

"Vera, I miss you."

Oh my god!

Feeling at a loss, Vera clung to his clothes, looking troubled.

"But... this... this is the office, and... it’s not... not yet the end of the day!"

"Come with me!"

He wrapped his arms around her, lifting her off the table, grabbed her arm, and headed towards the door. Vera quickly adjusted her clothes as he opened the door.

Seeing the curious gazes outside, Vera’s face turned beet red, and she hurriedly lowered her head.

Kris Cooper, however, strode confidently, as if no one else existed, pulling her out of the Advertising Department and into the elevator, where he promptly pressed the button for the top floor.
