"Not tired at all, I’m excited right now, dinner’s on me tonight." Kris Cooper patted his chest, "Korean Barbecue, eat as much as you like!"

"Being so generous today?" Merlin Bradley laughed.

"Besides the mishap with Kylo Sail today, I’m happy, isn’t that allowed?"

"How could we let you girls treat us? This time, it’s on me!" Ruben Campbell laughed, "Come on, pack up, let’s get ready to go."

"Well... you guys have to wait for me a bit, I haven’t finished my report yet." Vera Wave laughed.

"Don’t worry, we’ll wait for you!"

The three of them packed up their things and walked out of her office. Vera sat down at the desk, opened the unfinished report, organized her thoughts, and continued typing.

She didn’t know how long had passed when someone knocked on her door.

"Come in!"

She responded without looking up.

Someone pushed the door open, walked in, and came to the desk, Vera’s eyes still fixed on the screen.

"Just give me a moment, almost done, almost... no more than five minutes!"

Assuming it was one of Ruben Campbell’s group coming to hurry her, she didn’t think much of it and continued to type away at the screen.

A moment later, she finally finished typing the concluding paragraph, carefully checked for typos, and then moved the mouse to click print.

Her left hand reached for the cup on the desk, and a hand pushed it towards her. She took it, brought it to her mouth, and turned her face while drinking.

Her gaze met Kris Cooper, who was leaning over the desk looking at her, and she choked on the water.

"Cough!"

Coughing once, she quickly turned her face, narrowly avoiding spraying water all over Kris Cooper’s face.

With a helpless shake of his head, Kris Cooper swiftly grabbed a tissue, went around the desk, and wiped the water off her face and hands.

"You... why are you here?!"

Bending down to wipe up the water on the floor, he tossed the tissue into the trash can, stood up straight, and rested his arms on the arms of her chair, pulling her, chair and all, towards him.

"Came to pick up my wife from work, is that not allowed?"

She glanced towards the door to make sure it was tightly closed, then breathed a small sigh of relief and lowered her voice.

"There are still colleagues outside?!"

"Do you still want to play secret romance with me?" Kris Cooper lifted her chin, "The whole world knows we’re getting married now!" 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢

"Yeah!" Vera scrunched up her little eyebrows, looking troubled, "What should we do about this?"

The previous tense situation didn’t give her much time to think, and now that she thought about it, she couldn’t help but start to worry.

"What?" Kris Cooper lifted her chin, his face close to hers, "Is marrying me such a grievance?"

"No!" She pouted, "I’m worried your parents... won’t like me."

"No way." Kris Cooper gave a light peck on her lips, "How could they not like such a cute and capable daughter-in-law?"

"Really?"

She asked somewhat uncertainly.

Spreading his fingers, he gently caressed her small face, speaking seriously.

"Don’t worry, anyone I have my eyes on, they’ll like too." Reaching out to pull her up from the chair, Kris Cooper said with a smile, "Alright, pack up your things, let’s go now."

"Where to?!"

"Home!"
