I Am An Illegitimate Child With A Legitimate Reason For Revenge-Chapter 96: She should fall asleep soon
At the private center, Steve tried all he could, no, he made sure to save Raymond at all cost. Not that he was hit in any critical point but since he lost so much blood...
Ariel waited for the surgery to be over before her nerves could calm down.
Once she knew Raymond was out of danger, she finally felt at ease and rested her head.
"I told you he’d be alright." That was Paige’s voice and Ariel looked up to see her smiling warmly at her. "You’ve gone through a lot. You should get some rest."
Ariel had already gotten herself treated and all her wounds were wrapped up. The untreated and infected wounds in her body were also treated. Though she didn’t feel much pain, her appearance was in a pretty bad condition.
Ariel shook her head and looked over at Raymond still unconscious in the ward he was taken to after coming out from the ICU.
"Don’t tell me you want to stay here till he wakes up." Paige said, her eyes narrowing in suspicion.
"I want to be the first person he sees when he wakes up."
"Ariel, you just went through a lot and as much as you want to watch over him, you know your body needs rest, right? If you keep this up, you might just faint alongside him." Paige pointed out but Ariel only smiled and said,
"Thank you for saving us." With that, she turned to watch Raymond.
Paige immediately realized that she wasn’t going to leave. She was this stubborn, it wasn’t a surprise but she was worried.
Paige went to Steve and said to him,
"Ariel doesn’t want to rest."
Steve looked up from what he was doing and asked,
"How come?"
"She said she wants to watch Raymond till he wakes up." She explained and Steve gave it a thought.
He didn’t give Ariel any anesthesia when treating her wounds so it was expected that she wouldn’t fall asleep immediately but for her to want to stay up and watch Raymond the whole time... Wasn’t she tired?
"Well, we can just put her to sleep right next to him." He said and got up.
Though Paige didn’t know what he meant by that, she followed him.
Steve got some sleeping pills and put them in a glass of water. Then, he took the water to Ariel.
"Hey." He raised his hand and Ariel turned to him.
"Oh, hi, Mr Steve." She greeted him.
"What are you doing out here?" He asked her, acting oblivious and Ariel looked behind him to see Paige.
"I want to watch Sir Raymond till he wakes up." She said, her gaze returning to him.
"Then why don’t you go in?" Steve smiled. "The bed is big enough. You can watch him and wait while lying down next to him."
Ariel was silent. That had crossed her mind but she didn’t want to burden him by being too close. Plus, she was worried that she might press on his wounded arm.
"Here." Steve stretched the glass of water towards her. "Have this glass of water, go in and stay right next to him. I’m sure he’ll be happy to see you next to him once he wakes up."
Now that Steve put it that way, Ariel felt compelled to do that. She subconsciously took the water and drank it.
"There." Steve said and took back the empty glass. "Now go in there and if you feel like sleeping, don’t fight it. It’s good you rest, okay?"
She nodded and opened the door.
They watched her as she walked in. She glanced back at them wondering if it was really okay for her to lay next to Raymond and Steve gave her an okay signal with his thumb and index finger. He smiled at her and turned to Paige.
"She should fall asleep soon." He said. "Is there anything else you want me to do?"
"No but..." She paused, wondering if it was the right time to bring this up.
"What is it?" Steve asked while wondering what she had in mind.
"Did you guys catch the traitor?" Steve went silent and for some reason, Paige couldn’t see the look in his eyes through his glasses.
"I can’t tell you that." He said and adjusted the rim of his glasses. "You’ll have to discuss that with Raymond once he wakes up."
"Hah." She sighed and looked up. "I thought so."
Paige knew she wouldn’t be able to get out any information about it till Raymond woke up but she just wanted to ask to confirm her suspicions. She hadn’t seen that ’White’ guy in a while so she was wondering.
"I’ll be going now. Tell him to give me a call once he wakes up." She said while walking away and he nodded.
"Of course."
After she left, Steve looked back into the ward and watched Ariel. The anesthesia hadn’t taken effect yet and she was seriously watching over Raymond. Their relationship... Would it finally take a good turn? Could they finally be happy?
"I do hope that this will be their last challenge. Please..." He placed his hand on the glass. "... Let them finally be happy."
Ariel laid still on the bed and watched Raymond. His face was still as exquisite as the first time she laid eyes on him. There was a patch on his forehead. It seemed like he got wounded there when they fell but neither of them noticed it. They were too engrossed in what they were saying at the time and only remembered their situation was dire when she accidentally pressed his arm.
Being lost in each other’s world, it was like they were made for each other but at the same time, they were two completely different people who couldn’t mix. While one stood firm and fought against his enemies with a bold and fierce plan for revenge, the other had to rely on him to be able to fight her enemies and get revenge.
If she hadn’t met Raymond, she definitely wouldn’t have gone this far. No, she would’ve been dead. If she hadn’t met Raymond, she would’ve died and no one, not even him, would’ve known of her existence.
What were the feelings she had for him? When she was with him, she felt warm... and happy.
Was it just admiration? Was it the feeling of gratitude? She liked that he was always there for her, motivating her, cheering her up. She liked that he smiled at her in the warmest way possible. She liked the way he called her name so softly and smoothly, especially when their bodies intertwined.
She liked all these things. Did that mean she liked him as a person? As a girl would like a boy?
"Sir Raymond..." She muttered, her eyelashes fluttering slowly as her eyelids grew heavy in sleep. ’I still want to watch him. I want to make sure I... ’ Her thoughts drifted and she fell asleep. "I... Like you." She muttered.
