I Am An Illegitimate Child With A Legitimate Reason For Revenge-Chapter 48: Let’s go to the meeting together
Like every other day, seeing Ariel dressed in a new way reminded Raymond that she was really a beautiful girl. And out of all the dresses he had seen her wear, this looked really good and so he thought out loud,
"White suits you best."
Ariel heard this compliment and smiled.
"Thank you, hubby."
The receptionist who stood as an audience to Ariel’s audacious display of favour, quickly closed the door and went back to her position, shaking her head as to how proud one can be.
"Are you busy?" Ariel asked Raymond, taking a seat in front of him and his eyes went to his screen and what was displayed on it.
"Ahem." He cleared his throat and deleted the search. "Not too busy." He answered.
"Well, I’m about to chatter about irrelevant things so if you’re busy, I can tell you later." She said but he shook his head, indicating he wasn’t busy at all. "I didn’t really tell you about what happened last night. The plan to get Clara to catch us leaving the restaurant worked well. Now, Clara has her doubts and do you know, she came with Marco to the office today?"
"She must really be having doubts."
"It’s a good thing. This will help me fuel the fire I’m about to light." She looked happy with her achievements and Raymond found himself reaching out to pat her head but stopped halfway as his eyes fell right on her pink lips.
"How did Marco react to this?" He asked, retracting his hand.
"He smooth talked his way out of it." She answered while wondering why he stopped halfway when it was clear that he was going to pat her head. "Did I do it wrong?" She suddenly asked.
"What?"
"Well, you didn’t pat me." She pointed out and he looked at his hand.
Now, why did he hesitate after seeing her lips? There was no big deal in patting her head.
He shook his head.
"No, you did well." He said and finally patted her head and stroked it a bit gently, "You’re going really far in your revenge plan."
"I want to help you too." Ariel said and Raymond paused, his mind wandering to the words she said about wanting to make him happy.
"You’ll have the opportunity in about a month’s time." He answered.
"A month? What’s going on in a month?" She asked.
"My father’s birthday celebration at the Stein’s manor." He answered.
White watched them talk and he couldn’t help but feel displeasure.
’They look more comfortable around each other than they used to.’ He thought and narrowed his eyes on Ariel. ’She also seems more comfortable talking casually to my master.’ Now this made him wonder what might’ve happened between them during the days he was absent. ’Something definitely happened.’
Once the one hour had elapsed, White announced that it was time for the meeting.
"I’ll just wait here." Ariel said to him.
"Won’t you get bored?" Raymond asked her and for a moment, she felt it was strange. He usually left her in the office or in the bedroom when he had a meeting without any problem. So, why now was he asking if she would get bored?
Anyway, she was glad he was concerned.
"I will but I’ll just sleep it out." She said, "And if I don’t feel sleepy, I’ll scroll through the internet." She pointed at her phone in her hand.
Raymond was silent. He got up from his chair, walked around. Ariel thought he was already leaving so she fixed her gaze to her phone screen but surprisingly, Raymond had walked round to where she was and offered his hand.
She looked up, surprised.
"Come, let’s go to the meeting together." He said.
Confused, Ariel looked at White to make sure she was hearing right. Why was he asking her to go to the meeting with him?
She couldn’t say she wasn’t curious as to what meetings looked like and how they go about them but... Was it really okay?
"You don’t want to?"
"I think I’ll stick with my phone." She said,
"You can play with your phone there. It’s not like you’ll participate in the meeting." He said, which was logical but wait, was he asking her to play with her phone while every other person was battling with numbers and charts?
Well, what the heck? She wanted to see.
She took Raymond’s hand and got up, following him out of the office.
White stared, stunned. What exactly was going on in his master’s mind?
As soon as Raymond and Ariel entered the meeting room, the employees got up as a sign of respect and all eyes fell on them. But they were stunned to see ’Ariel this bitch’ walking in with him hand in hand.
This incited their curious minds but they dare not murmur in Raymond’s presence unless they wanted to be kicked out immediately.
Raymond got to his seat that was positioned close to the window. The table was long and round with a huge space in the middle, so he was able to see every single person’s face and their changing expression.
There were no seats close to Raymond’s as he preferred to keep a distance away from them, as far as possible. The closest was on the right and it was being occupied by a fairly bloated man wearing a brown suit.
"You." Raymond called and the man looked up, surprised. He looked back to make sure he wasn’t mistaken before pointing at himself to be sure. "Bring that chair over here." He said and the man immediately knew that he had to give his seat up.
Ariel had a sense of guilt so she decided to act up and live up to her name.
"But hubby, I don’t want to sit on that chair. Who knows if he already sweat on it? It might be smelly too." She grumbled with her lips slightly pouted, showing her dissatisfaction. "I want an unused and clean chair."
"Don’t worry. I’ll get you a chair that’s never been used." Raymond assured and snapped his fingers. White immediately made the call to get a brand new office chair delivered to the company right away. "Do you want it in colour?"
"Hm, I want blue." She said and White added the details.
"Then for the meantime," he sat down and patted his lap. "...you’ll have to use me as your chair."
