I Am An Illegitimate Child With A Legitimate Reason For Revenge-Chapter 49: Boss is perfect in everything
Ariel knew she had this coming when she boldly and stubbornly declined using another person’s chair. She could only carry on her act and sit shamelessly on Raymond’s legs.
"I hope I’m not disturbing you from making money, hubby." She said, hooking her arms around his neck and he shook his head.
"Not at all. If anything, having you here helps me concentrate." He shamelessly lied through his teeth and Ariel smiled.
She unhooked her arms and turned to look at the subordinates.
"Carry on, don’t mind me. You won’t even know I’m here once you’ve begun the meeting." She said and faced her phone.
"Now, let the meeting begin."
Ariel tried her best to act as a transparent figurine case but the stares she was getting made it hard to pretend and she felt uncomfortable. But thankfully, they soon got immersed in the meeting and forgot about her.
Towards the end of the meeting, Ariel’s chair arrived. While the movers took the chair up, the employees downstairs couldn’t help but wonder where it was being taken to.
They watched the elevator, speculating which floor they were headed to and as they watched the numbers increase, they somewhat concluded in their hearts who the chair belonged to.
Someone had spread the word that the boss had taken ’Ariel the bitch’ to the meeting with him and thus, they had their suspicions.
The elevator stopped at the meeting room floor and they all had a nod of understanding.
"She’s doing it again." Someone said,
"Hey did you guys hear? Apparently, ’Ariel the bitch’ is going after the chief of the finance department."
"Whoa, really?"
"I heard them talking about it this morning. His wife literally came to warn her but they didn’t cross paths."
"I doubt they would cross paths. Don’t you guys see the number of bodyguards that come in with ’Ariel the bitch’? I doubt anyone can get close to her."
"But do you guys really think she would leave the boss just to have a fling with a mere chief manager?"
This got them thinking and they shook their heads in disbelief.
"It might’ve been the chief trying to make a pass at her in order to climb the ladder, haha."
They talked on and on about this topic, spreading more rumours, false and true and misinterpreting everything.
When the chair arrived, Raymond looked down at Ariel to discover she was sleeping.
"Babe, your chair is here." He whispered softly in her ear and she snuggled on him more. "Are you comfortable like this?" He asked.
"Hm. It’s almost like I’m sleeping on our bed."
"Don’t worry. You’ll get to sleep more comfortably later once we get home." He said softly and she smiled.
"Yes."
Raymond lifted his gaze from her and the softened expression he displayed only a second ago immediately disappeared and was replaced by his cold and serious face.
"Where were we?"
The meeting finally ended and a new gossip topic spread throughout. ’Ariel the bitch’ was living with the boss.
"It’s only obvious. I mean, I don’t think I’d let my girlfriend live alone when I am more than capable of providing everything for her." A guy said.
"Hm, do you think they’ll get married?"
"They might. You should’ve seen the way he spoke so softly to her while trying to wake her up. His voice was so sweet. If I were her, I’d definitely not wake up."
"See who’s talking. You weren’t even there."
"But that’s what Mrs Tina said and I believe it."
"Please, give me a break."
"Do you think it’s possible that he makes her breakfast in bed?" This got them thinking.
A scenario where their stone cold boss would put on an apron and actually cook. Then he’d bring the food over to the bedroom and softly whisper a few wake up lines to his darling.
"Eeeeee!" The ladies squealed in excitement.
"That would be so incredibly romantic. Hah."
"Boss is perfect in everything."
"Why are you ladies excited about something you’ve never even seen?" A guy asked them.
"You wouldn’t understand."
"When do I get a bit of luck in my love life?"
Ariel woke up on a bed. She remembered falling asleep during the meeting. At first she tried to listen to what they were saying but in all honesty, it all sounded like Latin so she decided to take a nap. 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺
She remembered Raymond asking her something but she couldn’t remember what it was and just shook it off as unimportant.
"It seems the sun’s going down." She said, watching the sky turn red from the rays of the sunset. She watched it for a while before feeling a certain tingling pain in her stomach. "I’ve been feeling really sleepy lately. Is it that time of the month?" She wondered and her eyes widened. She started counting her fingers.
Ariel usually had irregular periods because of how she barely ate nutritiously. It wasn’t like that when she was younger but after she started living with Marco and getting beaten almost everyday, they became irregular.
She didn’t even see her period in the hospital and that caused Steve to worry, wondering if she was pregnant by chance but they checked and confirmed that she wasn’t pregnant.
Hearing about her irregular periods, Steve told her that she wouldn’t be able to get pregnant easily. Irregular periods were sometimes concluded as infertility so it could be said that she was partially infertile.
To be able to bear a child, it would take a lot of effort and maybe a miracle but it definitely wouldn’t be easy. He recommended that she eat nutritiously from then on, maybe her system would arrange accordingly and she could get better.
Now, Ariel was wondering if by chance she was having her period.
Unlike other females, she didn’t really have period cramps and the pain she felt were just slight tingles in her stomach, connecting down to her toes.
She wiggled her toes. There was the tingle. And in her stomach... There was the tingle.
"Don’t tell me." She quickly got up from the bed, only to find out that the bedsheets had already been stained with her blood and so was her white dress. "No, no, no, no, no. This can’t be happening. Why now?"
She anxiously worried and hoped no one came in yet. She had to clean it up somehow.
But just then, the door opened and Raymond walked in, only to find the bed stained and Ariel staring wide-eyed at him. His eyes widened.
"Why now?" She muttered under her breath.
