Chapter 264: Raymond meets Serena... again

Maxwell gathered his squad and headed for the destination where the children were being held captive. He made sure to carry along the strongest and swiftest guys on his team, nothing was to go wrong. Nothing would go wrong.

He practically had Paige’s smile on the line so he would make sure to do his best.

They got to the place indicated in the tracker and discovered the location was oddly a place no one would be suspicious of. A nursery school.

"Did that crazy lady plan to blow up a kiddie’s school?" One of his men exclaimed and he gave the signal out to the scouts to look around and take out anyone in the way.

While he and the others charged in quietly, through the front door, heading straight for where the kids were, they discovered there was practically no one on guard duty.

’Did we get fooled?’ Maxwell wondered and they finally got to the door, leading for the kids. His guts told him he was on the right track but there was still that forbidding, like something terrible was in there with the kids.

In any case, he would go in and see for himself, what that foreboding feeling was.

As soon as they opened the door, he beheld the kids tied to a chair, and scattered around them were... His eyes twitched. Serena was really a nasty bitch. He wanted to kill her with his own hands.

On the floor were bombs. Not just one but over seven and each was a motion detector bomb.

If they sensed movements, they would explode. If they were moved even by an inch, they would explode. How were they going to disable such a bomb?

"Will?" Maxwell called and Will, the bomb expert, stepped forward. "Do you think you can handle it?"

Will looked at his boss, stunned. This was the first time he had seen him worried about a mission. Other times, he never cared if the people involved lost an eye, a finger, a leg... He didn’t care as long as they came out alive.

But guess since these children were connected to the only person who was capable of controlling him... The only person his heart belonged to, guess this was a normal reaction.

Well, at least now he could safely say his boss was human.

"Have a little more faith in me, boss." He said and stepped forward with his equipment.

"Screw up and you’re dead." Maxwell threatened and Will nodded before getting to work.

He glanced at the kids tied to the chair. They were unconscious. This was good though. He didn’t want to hear crying and weeping sounds, begging him to free them.

’I wonder what’s going on at the other side.’

Raymond arrived at the location Serena asked him to go to. He looked at the exterior and frowned. It very much reminded him of the warehouse that Ariel was taken to during the last kidnapping.

Serena!

His people were on standby at a far distance. They would slowly approach the vicinity once Serena’s attention was on him.

Slow steps. He took slow steps towards the stairs, up and to the last room where Alexa was being held.

There were no guards to search or apprehend him and none along the stairs either.

"You arrived earlier than I anticipated. But in any case, I’ve been expecting you, brother." Serena said with her lips curled up in a smirk and Raymond raised his gaze to view his wicked half-sister sitting comfortably on a chair.

No guards were standing behind her either, so she wondered if she planned to take him out without any support. Well, if this was the case, wouldn’t it be easier to catch her this way?

"I know what you’re thinking." Serena’s voice jolted him out of his thoughts and he looked at her with squinted eyes.

She had this amused look on her face that made him feel like she knew exactly what he was thinking.

"Yes, I do not have any guards as support." She said and uncrossed her legs. "But it doesn’t mean I’m weak, either. Don’t think you can just take me out, especially when I have this in my hand."

She showed a little remote in her hand and pointed at the dark corner.

"And the life for your precious lover."

The light came on and he saw Alexa sitting unconscious in the corner. His eyes widened seeing a bomb sitting on her thighs.

"You..."

"Now, hold your cusses." Serena said, getting up from her seat and walking towards Alexa. "I haven’t done anything to your beloved. At least, not yet."

"Serena, turn yourself in." Raymond suddenly said and Serena paused. She turned her gaze to look at him and glared.

"Since when were you the one bargaining? I have her life in my hands so you should be pleading instead of threatening me. Do you really want her to die? Huh? Did you give up this time? You’re so calm right now compared to the last time, that I wonder if you actually care less, this time around."

Raymond clenched his fists. It wasn’t that he cared less. He was absolutely terrified of losing Ariel again. He was so terrified that he couldn’t utter a single sentence without losing his mind.

He needed to control himself, if not he might just end up charging for Serena and risking everything.

He needed to stay calm.

"What do you want?" He asked and Serena began to laugh.

She laughed so hard that tears formed in her eyes and she swiped them off.

"Haha, well aren’t you a rational one? You’re funny though." She said and took out a cigarette from her pocket. "You took everything from me, destroyed my name, and ruined what I have worked for all my life, and here you ask what I want." She raised her gaze, giving him a dead look, and finally said, "I want you dead."

Of course, Raymond did not expect anything less.

"You would’ve been better off if you hadn’t touched what was mine." He said still acting calm and Serena rolled her eyes.

"What? She was this adorable little kitten. Feisty too. I liked her and wanted her. What was so bad about that?"

"She was mine and was pregnant with my child." He yelled. "Everything you did was wrong. If you had let us be together in peace, you wouldn’t have had to face your downfall so soon in life. But you went ahead to take her away and destroyed our lives. You took away her memories of us."

"Awn, admit it. You were grateful I wiped her memories, weren’t you?"

"What?"

"You know, all the trauma, the heartache, the pains... I wiped all that and made her a better person. That’s something you could never do and the reason you didn’t bother telling her who she really was was because you didn’t want her to remember all that, wasn’t it?" She said and laughed, bringing out a lighter to light her cigarette.

Raymond could not utter a word to refute her claims because there was some truth in her words. But even at that, he wasn’t grateful that she gave Ariel harmful substances that almost destroyed her body system.

"You took Ariel from her family and her memories and gave her a life she never asked for. A different identity she never wished for. You took my child too, and made her grow up without a father. I do not appreciate it and will never let such a thing happen again. I’m taking her with me."

"Is... Is that true?" Ariel’s shaky voice resounded and Raymond flinched. He looked over to see she had woken up and had tears in her eyes. "Is what you said true? Am I really Ariel? The one you love? Am I her and not just a lookalike?"
