I Am An Illegitimate Child With A Legitimate Reason For Revenge-Chapter 247: So, why are you here again?
Raymond entered Alexa’s room after knocking once and she turned to see him walk in. She put down the book in her hand and paid attention to him.
"Sir Raymond?"
He closed the door after himself and said,
"Sorry to intrude." He approached her and she blinked her eyes, wondering. She heard the cars driving so she assumed he was back from work but why did he come to her straight away?
"Is something wrong?" She asked but he shook his head and sat on the chair next to her.
"I just got back." He said and slid her hair aside as if trying to get a clearer view of her face. He smiled and her face slightly flushed but she tried to contain her emotions and said,
"You should’ve gone to change your clothes and maybe take a bath. I know you must be exhausted from work." She said but he smiled and nodded.
"It’s glad to hear you worry about me. But don’t worry, I didn’t do much so I’m not that tired." He said. "I’ll take a quick bath before we have dinner. There’s still an hour before that."
"Then," she bit her bottom lip. "Would it be too much to ask you to tell me what you do at work?"
Raymond was surprised. That came out of nowhere. Seeing the surprise on his face, she decided to explain further to avoid any misunderstanding.
"You see, I’m always at home and you two go out all day. I... I just wanted to know what you guys do. I’m bored so I would simply like to hear what you guys have been up to. Would that not be better than you staring at me and simply asking how my day went? My day’s always uneventful, you see. I don’t exactly have the liberty of walking here and there so I’m either on my bed, this reading table or the balcony." She shyly swiped her hair aside. ’Did that sound wrong? I hope he doesn’t misunderstand.’ she peaked to see he still had that surprised expression on and she pursed her lips.
Then, Raymond covered his mouth and looked aside.
"You... Want to hear what we do all day?" He asked and she could see his ears turning red. Was he shy?
"Well, you don’t have to say it if you don’t want to." She said but he immediately turned his face to her and said,
"I will. I’ll tell you all about it. I’ll tell you how I spend my days with Rachael, in the office and everything else. I’ll..." He held her hand and squeezed lightly. "I’ll tell you everything."
It wasn’t like it was a big deal but why did he look so excited about it? Alexa could only smile at him and be thankful that he didn’t see it as burdensome.
On the other hand, Raymond was very elated to hear that Alexa wanted to know what he did on a daily basis. There wasn’t anything special, except when he went out to have fun with Rachael. But the thought of Alexa getting interested in him, his work and everything else made him happy.
At this rate, he wouldn’t have to do anything to make her fall for him. There would be no need to bring up the past or their love life. As long as she loved him again, nothing could go wrong.
"So, why are you here again?" Alexa asked, jolting him out of his thoughts.
"Yes, that’s right." He cleared his throat. "Rachael’s birthday is next week." He said and Alexa’s eyes widened.
"Oh God, how could I have forgotten about it?" She exclaimed, shocked that she forgot her own daughter’s birthday. Well, it wasn’t like she forgot the date but she didn’t realize it was so close.
With all that was going on, she wasn’t keeping track of the days, so she wasn’t able to figure out that her daughter’s birthday was approaching.
"Please, don’t panic." Raymond said to her, noticing she was already losing herself to her thoughts. "I already got it all covered. I just came here to get permission from you."
"What permission?" She asked. "What’s going on?"
"I want to throw a party for her." He said and her eyes widened.
"What?"
"It’s also a party to celebrate your recovery." He added and though that made it sound better, she didn’t think of throwing a celebration party at all. "I noticed that aside from Romeo, Rachael doesn’t have any friends. We’ll invite a lot of kids so she can mingle with others. It’s not good to be alone."
"I understand what you’re saying but Rachael..." She paused. Rachael wasn’t the type that liked associating with her age mates. It was already a miracle that she was able to get close to Romeo but with others...
Alexa didn’t know if you attribute it as being shy or she just didn’t know how to mingle with them?
Romeo wasn’t like other kids. He was more like Rachael, sensible and strong spirited. So their bonding was something that would happen eventually, but other kids weren’t like that. Rachael... Would she be okay?
"Do you think... That’s a good idea?" She asked, looking up at Raymond.
Raymond saw the worry in her eyes. He didn’t understand why so he asked,
"Is something wrong?"
"You wouldn’t know because you’ve only ever seen Rachael interact with grown ups and Romeo but Rachael... She doesn’t mingle well with kids." She explained. "I don’t know how to explain it but she is very reserved when around her mates so I don’t know if this party would be a good idea." Raymond gave it a thought.
"Then, should we ask her?" He said.
"What?"
"We’ll ask Rachael what she thinks about it. You never know, this might be a good opportunity for her to open up." He got up from the bed. "Should we give her a chance?"
Alexa silently looked at him for a while, thinking about it. She already witnessed it first hand, how Rachael interacted with her classmates, though they were bullies. Would that trauma let her interact with other kids?
Anyway, it was better to give it a try. She wanted her daughter to live a normal and worry free life.
"Alright."
Raymond helped Alexa on her wheelchair and rolled her out of the room and towards Rachael’s room.
"Rachael." He called, knocking the door and she opened it slightly to show her face.
"Can we come in?" Alexa asked and her face lit with excitement.
"Of course." She smiled and opened her door wide. "Welcome to my room."
