I Am An Illegitimate Child With A Legitimate Reason For Revenge-Chapter 226: No one was worried
Skylar was a bit confused but then he realized what he was going to do. He turned to them and said,
"Everyone, I think it’s about time to go back to the hall. Let’s not let a matter like this ruin our moods, hm?" He smiled and succeeded in pushing them out. He closed the door after him, to Joy’s dismay.
"What... What are you going to do?" Joy stuttered and Raymond squatted down.
"I don’t know. What do you think a mad man would do with you alone in a washroom?" He asked, his eyes glaring right at her soul.
He grabbed her hair and slapped her again, but this time he did not give her time to feel the pain and slapped continuously till her face was identical to a puffer fish but he still wasn’t satisfied.
Only the thought of how hurt and disappointed Alexa would look after seeing her daughter in such a state made him ache all over.
And not only that, the words she spoke about Alexa. Did she realize who she has opened her filthy mouth to insult?
What gave her the audacity to spout such nonsense? He didn’t care if she spoke like that about him but for Alexa, his Ariel, she must have a death wish.
Raymond hated that he was not competent enough to put a smile and only a smile on Alexa’s face. Even till now he was still not able to protect the thing she loved so much and only brought her pain and tears.
He felt useless. Completely and utterly... .
"Please... stop already." Joy pleaded and he glared at her.
"Would you have stopped if those kids begged you to stop?" he asked her and hit her once more. "I’m in a really bad mood right now. You beat up my kid. My flesh and blood, along with my nephew while knowing who he was. That’s a complete definition of disrespect. You knew who they were but still..." he clenched his fists.
"I didn’t know she was..." her words could not be completed as he hit her once more.
"I feel bad that she had to go through that because her father was not competent enough to keep her safe. I feel..." he tightened his grip on her hair, his hand trembled but then, he let go of her.
He stood up to his feet and went to wash his hand in the wash basin and adjusted his coat.
It wasn’t working. No matter how much he hit her, he wasn’t feeling any better. It wasn’t lifting the burden she has created.
Her deformed face was enough to show that he hurt her a lot but that was nothing compared to what she did to the kids, he thought.
He wanted to go to extreme measures. Maybe he should do something to her that would scar her for life because this incident would definitely never leave the minds of those kids, even till they got older so he wanted her to feel the same.
Something that would make her tremble... at a single thought.
Those were the evil thoughts creeping into his mind but he immediately dismissed it. He wasn’t a demon.
He opened the door and saw that there were two guards standing at the door as well as his male assistant.
"Take her to the police. Make sure the news gets out badly for her and her family." He said.
"Yes, Sir." He bowed lightly and watched Raymond walk on, while cleaning his wet hand with a hanky.
Raymond got out into the hall and the place suddenly went silent. It would seem he was once again the hot discussion of everyone that night. Well, it was inevitable.
Shortly after he walked away from that position, the guards carried a deformed Joy.
Once the guards carried her past the front door, the murmuring resumed.
’If I didn’t know any better, I would’ve concluded that to be Maxwell’s doing.’ Skylar thought. ’No, if Maxwell had been involved, she would’ve been dead already.’ he nodded at his own reasoning.
Raymond walked towards Skylar, unaffected by the eyes on him and asked,
"Where are they?"
"The top floor." He answered and Raymond made his way towards the stairs.
Thanks to all that had happened, no one dared to approach him to talk business, scared that they would anger him somehow and end up in a similar state to Joy.
But well, there was nothing they would do that could compare to her cruel act. Really, who would beat a kid that badly?
While Raymond was making his way up the stairs, he remembered a time in his childhood when he was beaten in this similar way over and over again.
He was just an innocent child and so was Ariel but they both passed through such a thing. She went through that sort of torment and he was sure that right now, if she had her memories, she would wish for nothing more than for her daughter to be happy and never experience such a thing.
But he ended up letting that happen. He clenched his fist, stopping at the door of the stairs. He felt so...
"I’m sorry." He muttered and made his way up the stairs.
Serena, at the corner, smirked. Thanks to all the commotion, no one was looking at her anymore. She was sure her plan was going well.
She sipped from her flute.
"I didn’t even need to do anything but you’re already agitated." She muttered as she watched him move up the stairs. "You don’t look like you’re missing anything but this is fine too."
She was so confident that her plan was going well, only for her to get a call and ruin her mood.
"What? What do you mean she escaped?" She asked in a loud tone that caused people to turn to her but she quickly adjusted her tone, put down her flute and walked away from there.
"Ma’am, we were escorting her to the car and I was sure she hadn’t caught on to anything yet but she suddenly started fighting back." the guy on the phone answered.
Serena had gotten a few people to kidnap Alexa. She gave specific instructions that Alexa would come with Rachael so they wouldn’t make a mistake and abduct the wrong person.
She didn’t give any description, with a reasonable excuse that Raymond might try to disguise her but knowing Alexa well, she would definitely be with her daughter at an event like this.
"That’s not supposed to happen. Alexa does not know how to fight." She said but then realized something.
No one was worried. Raymond was fine. It was like no one was missing at all. Was it not Alexa they had caught? Did she not come to the anniversary with them? It was plausible.
But then, who had they caught?
"Who did you catch?" she asked and he thought a bit.
"A lady with brown hair. Yes, brown curly hair with fringes. She was the one with the child." He answered.
"Brown curly hair with fringes?" She asked and he nodded.
"Yes, that’s the one."
Serena slammed the wall and gritted her teeth. That was not Alexa. If she guessed correctly, that was probably Jane. How did Jane get involved in all this? That darn girl should know her place and stay still. What was she doing all the way across the world?
Well, no matter. It has already been done. She would just have to improvise.
"Leave her and leave right away." She said, "If you get caught, you know what to do." With that, she cut the call.
If she couldn’t catch Alexa directly then she would just have to lure her out with another means.
She walked away and Maxwell walked out from his hiding spot.
"My wife is always right." He said. "She guessed that Serena was up to something and she really was. It seems that the brown haired fuzzy girl got caught. Should I report this?"
He contemplated and decided to act first and get her. Maybe then he would get an extra compliment.
"Let’s make wifey proud." He snickered and walked away.
Meanwhile, Jane, a black belt in judo martial arts, escaped from the guys who had caught her.
Let’s say she wasn’t actually caught because she knew from the beginning that she was being lured. She just wanted to see if she could find Serena at the end and give her a piece of her mind.
When she went to the restroom, a waiter walked up to her and said,
"Miss Alexa, Mister Raymond Stein wants to see you." He said and she raised her head to look at him.
As gullible as she looked, she wasn’t a fool.
She didn’t bother to point out that she wasn’t Alexa or ask where Raymond was and went with him. Surely, the moment he started leading her away from the direction of the inner hall, she knew this was a trap.
’This must be Serena’s doing.’ She thought and got out of the venue through the back. There was a luxurious car. ’They really went all out.’ she almost laughed but then noticed there was only one person in the car.
If Serena wasn’t there then it would be dangerous to go with them. It would all be over once they discovered she wasn’t Alexa.
She silently took off her shoe as they walked and then looked at the man in front of her. He was still leading her on and hadn’t noticed anything.
She immediately swept a kick over his head, knocking him down in an instant.
