I Am An Illegitimate Child With A Legitimate Reason For Revenge-Chapter 203: I don’t work for anyone
Henry entered his house and noticed everything was strangely quiet. The maids did not come out and the guards were nowhere to be found.
It was odd.
He put a call across to his butler, Felix but the call did not go through.
He started feeling anxious and decided he should leave the house before figuring out what was but first, he needed to pick a few things from his room.
Unfortunately for him, his room was where the enemy lay.
As soon as he walked in, he was tackled by an unknown force.
"Hey, get off me." He struggled but his strength couldn’t measure up to the two hefty men holding him down.
"Settle down or you just might lose a limb," Maxwell said as he came out of the shadows. He grinned. "Hello, Mr Betrayal. I need to have a word with you."
Henry looked at him in horror. Who was this and why was he in his house?
"Let me go. This is a crime." Henry yelled.
"And the things you do in the shadows aren’t?" Maxwell asked and lowered his head to glare at him. "I know about the things you do. And I know who you work for."
"What... What are you talking about? I work for Ultio, do you know how much influence I have? I can get rid of you at the snap of a finger."
"Hm, I’m so scared." Maxwell cackled. "Why don’t we cut off those fingers so you can’t snap them ever." He approached him and Henry struggled.
"Hey, stop! Get away from me." He struggled and Maxwell stopped.
"Hm, I think I’d be going too far if I cut your fingers now." He said. "Anyway, just tell me who you’re working with and I’ll let you off easy."
Henry gritted his teeth. Just how did they find him? Did that girl get caught? But he never showed himself to her. Or was it the others? Did they rat him out?
But who was this guy with such an imposing presence? A normal detective wouldn’t go to these lengths and he didn’t look like an executioner either so who?
"Who are you?" He asked.
"Where were my manners? Call me Maxwell." He said, smiling brightly and then that smile turned into an annoyed frown. "Tell me, who do you work for?"
"I don’t work for anyone." Herby persisted and glanced over at the drawer where he had kept important things. Did they check the entire place? If they did, then they might’ve already guessed who was working for but seeing he was still asking, it seemed they hadn’t found it yet.
Then suddenly, Maxwell uttered a name,
"Serena."
Henry’s eyes widened in shock and he looked at him. His lips quivered and he asked,
"How... how did you know?"
Maxwell tilted his head to the side and then grinned.
"So it’s true." He said and laughed like a maniac. "I just wanted to test it out but it seemed I was right. You work for Serena, don’t you? Serena Stein? The one who went into hiding after Raymond took over the entire Stein’s corporation." He laughed.
Henry’s eyes shrunk as he heard this. What did he just do? He cursed himself for being so stupid.
"I’m just too good at this," Maxwell said. "And if I put the clues together, it’s clear that she’s the one who took dear Aunty’s daughter."
He took out his phone and texted a few things before keeping it. He turned to Henry who looked like he had seen a terrifying ghost.
"Now, tell me, where is Serena?" He asked and Henry lowered his head.
What had he done? He had just sold out his dear, the woman he adored with his entire body. How could he?
"You’ll only know it over my dead body." He said with gritted teeth and Maxwell punched him.
He looked dead serious and angry. He grabbed Henry’s hair and looked him dead in the eyes.
"Listen here, do you think I’m asking nicely? I’ll gladly get the answer from you while ripping out every muscle from your body, you son of a bitch." He let go and punched him once more. "You’re one of the people who’s giving my darling a headache so I’m going to make sure I get rid of every single one of you. So, tell me... where is Serena?"
Henry spat on Maxwell and Maxwell stepped back. He calmly took out a hanky from his pocket and cleaned his face.
Then, he used that same hanky to strangle Henry.
"What? Where’s your tough side now?" He asked but Maxwell still wouldn’t spill it out. He punched him hard in the gut and he fell unconscious.
Henry’s body dropped and only had the support of the two hefty guards keeping him up.
Maxwell took Henry’s phone from his pocket and opened the phone with his fingerprint.
Checking through the contacts, he finally found Serena’s details. He grinned.
"I guess this guy’s useless now." He said. "There’s no way Serena will risk everything just to get him back but just in case..." he raised his head to the guards. "Take him to the van. I need to get back to my wife."
He happily left things to them and strolled through the halls.
All the guards and Maids were being kept in one room with his men keeping them intact with their guns.
"I guess I should just get rid of them, right?" He wondered but then remembered Paige’s words.
At this moment, she would tell him to not get innocent people involved and leave with just the culprits.
"Hm, I guess they’re innocent." He rubbed his chin. "Or not? What if they are working for Serena as well?"
He decided to just burn them all but before he could put out the orders, Paige called.
"Good job," Paige said right away, causing Maxwell to feel proud of his actions. "Now, come back. Leave every other person out of it, okay?"
Maxwell looked at the room and sighed. He wanted to set fireworks since it had been a while but it seemed it would be the wrong thing to do.
"Alright. I’m on my way, wifey." He said and quickly went to get on his bike, heading straight for the facility.
