I Am An Illegitimate Child With A Legitimate Reason For Revenge-Chapter 178: You’re going to remove her lungs
"... Lung cancer."
Hearing this, Raymond’s eyeballs shrunk. Alexa had what?
Seeing that look on Raymond’s face, Steve could tell what was going to come out of his mouth.
It had been a really hard task trying to get a X-ray scan of her body while she was unconscious and so they made sure to do it well so as not to make mistakes and then he took his time examining the contents in her blood.
It was mostly filled with the dangerous chemicals of the drugs she had been taking for four years straight.
Taking such a harmful drug for so long probably damaged her lungs more than it would her kidney. It was hard to explain but that was the only reasonable explanation.
The congestion around her airways weren’t caused by the broken blood vessels but rather the drug particles that stubbornly refused to dilute.
So many things in her body got damaged but that dangerous drug and such a thing wasn’t even in the market to begin with so he wondered how she got it. Or more importantly, why her so-called sister would go so far at the expense of making her forget her past completely.
Did that so-called sister know that she was secretly killing Alexa from the inside? Did she know that the drug she gave her would cause her to lose her life if proper care wasn’t taken?
Her organs were being damaged because of this drug and that wasn’t all, there was that freaking headache that wouldn’t let her live or sleep comfortably.
That person, whether oblivious or fully aware, was the epitome of evil.
The first act was taking Ariel away from Raymond and then the second act was wiping her memories and giving her that drug. Thank God she didn’t take it while she was pregnant. God knows how much it would’ve damaged that child’s entire being.
Steve looked at Raymond who was still trying to comprehend what he just heard.
This was getting really complicated. Maybe he should’ve kept the seriousness of the whole thing to himself till he was sure there was a high possibility of Alexa surviving the operation.
Now, he was wondering if to bring up the suggestion of giving Rachael a full body checkup.
No one knows what happened to Alexa in that year while she was still pregnant with Rachael. For all that knew, another dangerous substance must’ve been used to wipe her memories completely before she started taking the drugs.
"You have to calm down and think rationally." Steve said to Raymond. "I’m a doctor and a surgeon and I’m telling you that this is one of the many cases I’ve treated. We can schedule the surgery right away to get that infected lung out of her body before it spreads to other organs."
"You’re going to remove her lungs?" Raymond asked in shock.
"Not both of them. Just the infected one." Steve calmly said.
"You’re going to remove her lungs." Raymond repeated, stating it as a big deal. "Is there any way to replace the infected one instead of leaving her with one lung?"
Steve shook his head.
"Sadly, that’s not possible. Well, it is but it’s not advisable." He said. "Once a patient goes through the lung removal process, that part of them becomes very weak and performing one more operation there would probably damage their body. Some might not be able to stand it and give up in the process."
Raymond’s eyes widened and he covered his face. What was this? What was he going to do?
"Raymond, think about this well. We can’t delay getting that infected lung out of her system before it causes more damage." He said and Raymond nodded, yet he couldn’t show his face.
"And the headaches?" He asked but Steve had no say on that.
"As for the headache, the only thing we can do is wait it out till her memories come back. Maybe then, she wouldn’t feel the pain anymore." He said and Raymond revealed his face.
It had a dark shade of sorrow and anger. He had these sorts of thoughts that, if known, would tag him as a devil.
What was he going to do to that person that caused all this once he caught them?
"Raymond." Steve called and he snapped out of his thoughts. "Are you still thinking about it or were you thinking about something else?" He asked and Raymond looked aside, telling him his mind was somewhere else for sure.
Even that evil countenance told him he was thinking of killing someone.
"Alexa talked about hypnosis at one point." Raymond said and turned to look at him. "Do you think it’ll work if we tried hypnosis on her?"
"It might but I don’t know when’s the right time. If we do that before the surgery and the headache kicks in more strongly, she may get affected and if we do that as soon as we finish the surgery, it may still happen then and her system may get messed up."
Raymond gritted his teeth. In other words, they had to wait it out whether they liked it or not.
"Alright." He said and got up. "I’ll want to see her first. I... I want to get her consent on this so I hope she wakes up soon."
Steve watched his side view as he said this and felt there were a lot of heavy emotions attached to these words.
If Alexa refused to have the surgery, there would be nothing left but to try and convince her and maybe they would end up using their ’trump card’.
"By the way," Steve began and Raymond stopped at the door. "I did the test." He said and Raymond turned to look at him.
"What test?"
"I tested Alexa’s blood with Paige." He said and leaned on the table. "Though not much similarities in their blood, they were a match. The test shows Alexa is Paige’s relative."
Hearing this, Raymond got the message and nodded. He knew he couldn’t be wrong.
"Did you tell her yet?" He asked and Steve shook his head.
"You know Paige, I don’t need to spill the words for her to know what’s going on." He tapped his temples and smiled. "She’s that smart."
