I Am An Illegitimate Child With A Legitimate Reason For Revenge-Chapter 177: I hope mummy is fine
Raymond watched them leave and went back into the villa. He quickly took off his clothes, had a quick bath to get rid of the blood on his body and then went to the kids.
As soon as Rachael saw him coming, she cleaned her face and stood to her feet. She looked up at him, while hiding the hanky behind her back.
She had been crying and Romeo had been feeling bad but it didn’t look like she wanted to talk about it so he kept it to himself as well.
"We’re going now." He said and picked her up. He carried her and carried Romeo as well.
As much as Rachael wanted to ask what was going on with her mummy, how she was doing and why there was so much blood, she kept quiet and pursed her lips.
Knowing too much when it was still early might be more painful, she thought.
’I hope mummy is fine.’ she thought as a tear found its way down her cheek. She cleaned it before anyone saw but Romeo had already seen it.
He looked forward, feeling sad for Rachael. Her mummy looked really sick, was she going to be okay?
He reached out to her and held her hand. She looked a thim and he smiled.
"Everything will be okay." He mouthed and she nodded, smiling back as well.
They got in the car, Raymond drove this time and headed straight to the facility while wishing, hoping and praying that Alexa was okay.
At the stop of the red street light, Raymond dropped his head on the steering wheel. He felt restless. Why was it that even when he had all the money in the world, he couldn’t save that one person that was important to him?
"Daddy." Rachael called and he raised his head, looking back at her. "It’s going to be okay." She said and he pursed his lips.
That’s right, there wasn’t just one person important to him. He had two very important people in his life and he would try everything to protect them both. It was too early to give up and mourn.
"That’s right, Rachael. Everything is going to be okay." He said and looked up at the sign. It showed red and he hit the geers.
At the facility, everyone was in a frenzy. This uncalled for preparation was so sudden and they needed to do everything they could to make sure this lady survived.
Though the bleeding finally stopped, Alexa wasn’t waking up and Steve had to find the cause of the torn blood vessels, as well as the cough and...
The problems were very similar to a case he handled a year back. He stepped back in fright. It wasn’t what he thought it was, right?
He went over his files and skimmed through. The symptoms were very similar. Other than the headache, the rest were just the right symptoms.
He couldn’t waste more time trying to figure it out. It would be better to run the test right away.
Just as the test was being conducted, Raymond arrived with the kids. It wasn’t the right thing to bring the kids but he couldn’t leave Rachael alone when she knew her mother was in a bad condition.
She might fall into depression while trying to conceal her fear.
"How are things now?" Raymond asked and Steve looked at Rachael in his arms.
"Well," he adjusted his glasses. "She’s sleeping now." He said and carried Romeo up into his arms.
Hearing that, Raymond let out a sigh of relief and brushed Rachael’s hair back before kissing her forehead.
"You hear that? Your mummy is sleeping now." He said and she too felt relieved. She hugged Raymond’s neck and asked the most shocking thing.
"Can I cry now?" Her words touched them. How hard was she holding back? She was just a kid.
"Go ahead, baby." He said and she let her tears fall. She cried and cried, wailing loudly as she clutched Raymond tightly.
Raymond held her tight, his heart hurting as he heard her wail. That was the most painful thing a father could ever endure. It was too much.
Romeo wanted to cry too seeing Rachael cry so bitterly. He looked away and hugged his father tight.
Steve patted his back as he sniffed. His son was weak to tears, he knew that and seeing he was trying hard to hold his own tears in, he felt proud.
When Rachael had finally calmed down, she gave herself up to sleep.
Rachael seemed to sleep without resisting once she was exhausted. Romeo also fell asleep while trying to act the big guy and not cry.
They left the kids to sleep and went to Steve’s office.
"Tell me, what did you discover?" Raymond asked, taking a seat and Steve took off his glasses for a moment. Something seemed to be stuck in his eyes.
"I managed to stop the bleeding but then she looked like she was struggling to breathe. I thought maybe it was the blood blocking her airways. But don’t worry, I dealt with that fine." He said and put his glasses back on.
"Is she okay now?" Raymond asked but Steve shook his head.
"Unfortunately, she’s not out of danger yet." He said. "It wasn’t as simple as her airways being blocked by blood remnants, and her condition doesn’t seem to be a simple illness either."
"Of course it’s not a simple illness. She threw up blood, for crying out loud." Raymond pointed out a bit too aggressively.
"And I understand that fully but that’s not it." Steve said, and breathed out. "I fear whatever’s plaguing her right now and I’ve run some tests. All that’s left is to wait for the results."
"What could possibly be the problem?" Raymond asked as she slumped back into the chair. He was so worried.
Steve hoped that what he was suspicious of wasn’t the case. If it was then it would be really bad.
A knock came from the door and Steve yelled out.
"Come in." A nurse walked in, bowed her head in greeting and handed Steve the results for the test.
Steve took in a deep breath before opening it. He skimmed through the results as well as the X-ray scan and shut his eyes for a moment. Raymond saw that as a bad sign and asked,
"What does that say?"
"She has..." this took a toll out of him as he revealed, "...Lung cancer."
