I Am An Illegitimate Child With A Legitimate Reason For Revenge-Chapter 174: Safety first
Alexa woke up shortly after and had her breakfast. The things that happened the previous night seemed to be a dream to her and though she did feel Raymond’s attitude towards her improved more than before, she did not think back to their conversation.
"Mummy, let’s go to the beach." Rachael suddenly said.
They were all on the balcony that had a fine view of the beach. The breeze was nice too but that didn’t satisfy them.
Romeo immediately followed suit and added his own opinion.
"Yeah, let’s go and play in the sand." He said and Rachael turned to him.
"We can build castles together. I heard it’s really fun."
They both started chattering about how fun it would be even before Alexa had agreed to their request.
"It seems it’s already been decided." Raymond said and she turned to him. "The beach wasn’t there to just be seen in the first place."
"However." Alexa said and shut her eyes for a moment but as soon as she opened them, she found Rachael and Romeo attacking her with cute little puppy eyes. 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎
"Please, mummy." Rachael pleaded, her eyes growing in hope.
"Please, Aunty." Romeo added.
"But..."
"I thought you had no problem with going to the beach last night." Raymond said and she looked at him in surprise.
"Did I say that?" she asked.
"Yes and you were even worried about what the kids would wear so I told you I’d take care of it." He answered. "I had the maids get them. Is that still a no?"
Alexa couldn’t exactly remember saying that but since he said she did, she agreed. Besides, there was no way he’d lie for such a petty thing.
"Alright." She said and the kids jumped in excitement. "But safety first, okay? What do you do when you see a suspicious stranger approaching you?"
"Ooh, I know this one." Romeo said and cleared his throat. "If we see a strange person approaching us, we will immediately run away to where you and uncle are. Did I get that right?"
"Yes, very good." Alexa said and patted his head. "But that isn’t all." She added and Romeo racked his brain for the answer.
"I know, I know." Racheal waved her hand. "While running away, we should always remember to scream. Even if we run, while we are quiet, the stranger can catch us and no one will know and that’s because we are little children who can’t run faster than adults."
"Oh, I got it." Romeo hit his fist on his palm. "If we scream, the stranger will feel uncomfortable and run away, right?"
"That’s very good, both of you. That’s smart." Alexa praised them and they smiled in delight. "Knowing what to do is one thing and acting it out is another so don’t forget to do this, okay? You have to promise me that you won’t forget if not, we won’t go down to the beach."
"We promise." They both chorused and she smiled.
"Alright, go in and get dressed with the maids." She instructed and they both rushed off.
Unaware that Raymond had been staring at her the whole time, she walked towards the balcony rails and rested on them.
The breeze blew over her lightly and she slid her behind her ear. Compared to their first meeting, her hair seemed to have grown longer.
"It’s good to get a rest once in a while." She said, "But you should know not to overdo it. Once you do, it just becomes laziness." She laughed.
"I’m not overdoing it." Raymond said and joined her to rest on the rail. "Before, I had no reason to rest. Rather, I saw no reason to rest. I thought burying myself in my work would help keep my mind from thinking of my sorrow and pain but now that you are here, now that there’s a reason to rest, why would I stick to my desk?"
He asked and glanced at her. She also looked at him, their eyes meeting as they gazed at each other.
"I should enjoy the time I have now while I still can. I just might end up regretting not taking this opportunity while I had the chance." He said and she tore her gaze away, feeling a bit uncomfortable with his gaze.
"Good point." she said and swiped her hair back.
"Mummy, mummy!" Rachael ran towards them and they turned to see her holding one of the maids towards them. "Which of these two is cute?"
They looked at the clothes the maid was holding. Two different designs of pink baby swimsuits. They were both cute and very similar to each other.
"That one."
To their surprise, both parties were pointing at a different swimsuit.
While Raymond pointed at the one on the right, Alexa pointed at the one on the left. They both looked at each other and laughed.
"What’s so funny?" Romeo asked as he came out with his little swim trunk that was no different from regular shorts. Then there was a pink floral shirt with the maid coming with him.
"Why aren’t you dressed yet?" Rachael asked him.
"Speak for yourself." Romeo said and smirked. He raised his hands up and the maid got him in his shirt in a split second. "See?"
"Well, I still need to pick which one looks cuter." Rachael said, turning to observe the swimsuits.
"But they’re both cute."
"Exactly." Rachael said and that got Romeo confused.
Alexa looked at her daughter. Since when was she so interested in looking cute? She was already filled with so much cuteness just by smiling, yet she wanted her dress to exude more of that cuteness.
She knew raising a girl wouldn’t be easy.
"Choose one for me." She said to Romeo who went ahead to count five. As soon as he did, his finger pointed at the dress on the right. "Wow, daddy chose that one. It seems you two think alike."
"Of course." Romeo folded his arms while looking up in pride. "I’m going to be just like him in the future."
"Then, I’ll go with this one." Rachael said, pointing at the one on the left. "I like the one mummy chose for me." She smiled while smiling brightly.
Romeo looked at her with glazed eyes. If she was going to take that from the beginning, why bother asking him?
"Rachael." Alexa called and they all turned to her. "Why did you start calling Raymond your daddy?"
