Chapter 173: The necklace gave me the final conclusion

The next morning, Steve dropped by the villa. Raymond called since Alexa wasn’t waking up on her own so he checked her and discovered that it was just exhaustion from the pain.

The pain she was feeling so far were the side effects of withdrawing from the drugs.

They were pretty harsh so as much as possible, they had to stay alert for when the headache would come back.

"Other than that, she’s okay, right?" Raymond asked and Steve nodded. "Then is there anything you can prescribe to soothe the headache, even a little bit? She feels so much pain once it hits her and I can’t do anything but watch."

Steve looked at him as he said this. It was rather... odd. Was he caring for her now? Last he checked, he was doing all this because of Rachael.

"I can but it won’t do much." He said and put his hands in his pocket. "But leaving that aside, is there something you would like to tell me?"

"I can’t get anything past you, can I?" Raymond sighed and they walked out of the room.

"Will mummy sleep more?" Rachael asked, coming out in her little pink dress. Raymond carried her and said,

"Your mummy was just stressed after running around a lot yesterday. She’ll wake up soon." He assured her and kissed her forehead. "Go with Romeo to the dinner table, I’ll be there in a minute."

"Okay." She kissed his cheek also and got down, skipping towards where Romeo was standing and they both went to the dining room.

Raymond watched as they left and Steve cleared his throat.

"You seem a bit different." Steve said. "And I’m not talking about ’Rachael’ type of difference, you seem a lot calmer."

"I followed my psychologist’s therapy treatment so why wouldn’t I be better?" He said and smiled which was even more odd than before.

"Tell me, did something happen?" Steve urged.

"I’ll tell you but don’t call me crazy." Raymond said. "Alexa is Ariel."

Steve flinched. What did he say? Was he going crazy again? Why would he come up with such a conclusion out of nowhere?

"Yeah, your eyes tell you’re calling me crazy." Raymond said.

"Why wouldn’t I? Ariel is dead."

Raymond looked at him and started walking away. He didn’t have much to say if he wouldn’t believe him even a little.

Seeing how Raymond calmly walked away got Steve curious. Did he discover something? He was also wondering why there were so many coincidences around her?

"Wait." He ran after him. "Why do you think they’re the same person? She may look like her but they have different identities."

Raymond halted his steps and turned to him.

"Do you remember where I got Ariel’s ring from?" He asked him.

"You got the ruby from some black shaders." Steve said but Raymond shook his head.

"I’m not asking where I found it, I’m asking where the ruby came from?"

"Oh, you’re talking about Ariel’s mother necklace? Yeah, the ruby was detached and sold but you found them both." Steve answered. "I remember Ariel wore it everywhere."

"That same necklace, Alexa had that same necklace on." Raymond answered and Steve’s eyes widened. He looked back. He couldn’t be serious.

"Is that what convinced you?" Steve asked him. "It could be another coincidence."

Raymond knew he would still doubt. He stepped towards him and said,

"The necklace gave me the final conclusion, but there was something I saw before the necklace that made me extremely suspicious." He placed his hand on Steve’s back and whispered. "You were her doctor so you know better than me what the scars she got from the two knives stabbed into her back looked like." He let go and started leaving.

"Are... are you saying... Alexa has those scars... those same scars... on her back?" he asked. "All of them?" Raymond did not say more but tapped his shoulder and left.

Steve stood there speechless. How was this possible? There was no way she would’ve survived that explosion and the only way was if someone saved her before then.

But who? Who was it that saved her, took her away and wiped her memories?

Now that he actually thought about it, it was all plausible. The resemblance, Rachael, five years, no memories... who in the world did such a cruel thing?

The one responsible for this cruel act sat in her chair, working. She got irritated on short note so the people around her were being careful.

She tried to concentrate but each time she thought of the minutes going by with Raymond and Alexa being together and the possibility of him finding out her real identity, she would get mad.

"What is taking so long?" She yelled and dropped her head in her palm. Just then, her door opened.

Henry walked in with good news and advised,

"I have found her." He said and she looked up.

"Are you sure she can do the job perfectly?"

"She seems to love money more than herself and she’s quite the actress." Henry praised.

"Having someone who loves money can sometimes backfire. What would you do if she turns on us because Raymond offers her a higher price to spill the truth of her intentions?" She asked him.

"Money isn’t the only thing she loves." Henry said. "She also loves her mother and I have used that against her."

Serena could finally breathe. This has better work. The time Alexa was spending with Raymond was too much.

"Alright. Tell her to get to it." She said and waved her hand.

"I will return now." He bowed his head lightly and wanted to leave.

"Henry," she called and he turned to her. "If this works out well, I will reward you."

Hearing this, Henry nodded and left. 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮

Once outside, he stood still for a while, feeling his heartbeat accelerate. He needed to make Serena proud of him again. He has made so many mistakes so far so in the least, he had to do this right.

He left and met with the girl. She looked like she was about twenty two but was very clever. She had black hair and had distinct features that were a bit similar to Ariel.

With this, they would be able to infiltrate Raymond’s mansion, destroy their lives and he would gain Serena’s trust and recognition again.
