Alexa drew close to her and hugged her. Serena thought she had succeeded in earning her sympathy until she heard her whisper,

"How old are you? You shouldn’t be playing such games." Serena’s eyes widened. "You seem to forget that I am a psychologist. Your guilt trap is too obvious and even if what you said is true, I don’t give a damn. You hurt my child and that’s all I know."

Serena broke herself from the hug and looked at Alexa with a shocked expression. Things were not going the way she wanted and she hated it.

"Why would you think that?" She asked while trying to smile but Alexa wasn’t buying it.

"Stop with the games, Serena and just apologize."

"What?"

"Apologize. Apologize for hurting Rachael with your words and apologize for being so insensitive." Alexa said and this got Serena mad. 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞

Her fists trembled and she looked at the daring thing in front of her. She made her the strong woman she was today yet she was using that strength to fight her. So what if she hurt that brat?

This was frustrating.

"I’m leaving." Serena said and headed for the door.

Alexa watched her as she left and palmed her face. In the end, she refused to apologize. What was going on with her? She wasn’t always like that.

Or, was she just the one who failed to realize it till this day? Was this her true colors all the while?

She sighed. Her head hurt from thinking about it too much.

Looking at this house, she came to a realization that everything she had from the moment she woke up with missing memories till this day, all rightfully belonged to Serena.

Even when she got a name for herself, it was all thanks to Serena. And even when she started earning her own money, she was still subconsciously relying on her.

Everything belonged to Serena. Was that all a coincidence? She wanted to think that Serena had been doing all that because she was such a doting sister and didn’t want her to struggle but now that she thought about it, it was as if Serena was trying to keep her on a tight leash.

She didn’t want her out of her hold and wanted to know everything she was doing.

Alexa shuddered as she realized this. Serena was crazy. She had been controlling her life like this for so long but she just realized it.

"What is going on?" She looked up, only to notice the flower plant at the corner was a little tilted. Funny how she just realized it but she went to arrange it anyway, only to find a mini camera in it.

Shocked, Alexa took steps back. A mini camera? Who... ? She didn’t need to think too hard to know who was responsible for it.

This revelation got Alexa frightened. Really, what was going on? Why did she have to go so far as setting up a mini camera?

She checked the house carefully and found several other mini cameras.

Taking steady breaths in and out, Alexa tried to keep calm. What was all this? Serena had been spying on her the whole time? For how long and ... why? What made her go so far?

Was this something a sister would do?

She should take this to the police. Yes, she had to file a report.

She agreed on this but couldn’t actually bring herself to do it. What if it wasn’t really Serena and it was just a misunderstanding? She would really wrong Serena.

But then again there was no other person who came into this house without her knowing. Serena was the main suspect and the fact that she bought that house also added to it.

But then again, if Serena was the culprit, there was no way she would be tied down by the law seeing how influential she was.

Come to think of it, she didn’t know what Serena did. She knew she went in and out of the country for business purposes but she didn’t know the exact job she had. And their parents... it had never crossed her mind to actually look up who their parents were.

She was always so comfortable with Serena’s comfort that she didn’t... wait a minute, it seemed Serena had been doing everything to make her so comfortable that she wouldn’t care for these little things.

Crazy! Serena was crazy. Now she really wanted to know what she did. She has to find out.

She took her laptop, ready to search it out but strangely enough, the internet connection in her house was completely cut off.

"That’s odd."

*Dingdong* came the doorbell and Alexa wondered who it could be at this time.

Was it Serena? Well, if it was, she would just take this opportunity to confront her. She decided on this but when she went to the door, she saw through the screen that it was someone else.

"May I help you?" Alexa asked as she pressed on the audio button on the screen.

"Hello, sorry to disturb you but I am from the technical sector of this building and I just wanted to inform you that any form of internet connection will not be active for the meantime."

"Okay? Why not? Did something happen?"

"Nothing serious but a fuse got blown and to avoid it from happening a second time, we’ve cut off the rest." He explained and Alexa nodded. "Sorry for any inconveniences. You won’t be able to make calls or access the internet tonight but in case of an emergency, do reach out with the emergency line on your phone. Have a good night." He concluded and walked out of there.

Alexa turned away from the screen. There was no internet access. That was too much of a coincidence. What were the odds that Serena was not the one behind this?
