I Am An Illegitimate Child With A Legitimate Reason For Revenge-Chapter 143: Get out of my house
That night, Alexa waited for Serena to come over like she said she would. She made sure to put Rachael to sleep early and sat on the couch, waiting.
Serena walked in, only to see Alexa sitting with a cold air around her.
"We need to talk." Alexa said and though Serena expected it, she immediately got exhausted by the thought of it.
"What’s there to talk about?" Serena asked as she made her way to sit. "You want to hear about how I told your daughter not to do things that would be a burden to you or you want to hear me make some sort of excuse as to why I did it?" Her gaze, glazed on Alexa made Alexa feel even more angry.
She gripped her arm and gritted her teeth.
"Is that all you have to say?" She asked but Serena looked uninterested.
"What’s left to say?"
"Serena, you knew that those kids called Rachael a bastard, didn’t you?" She asked and Serena paused.
’So that little brat went ahead and ran her mouth.’
"You knew she was being bullied and yet you didn’t say anything about it. You didn’t tell me or console her in the least. Instead, you went ahead to tell her not to be a burden. You told her to be the bigger person."
"What’s so wrong with that? That way, she would avoid getting into unnecessary fights."
"Serena." Alexa burst out as she stood to her feet. She looked at Serena who kept a straight and unaffected face. This annoyed her even more. "You told a three year old child to be a bigger person and endure? You told her that I, her mother, would regret it if she were to get into trouble? Tell me, what exactly am I going to regret? Serena, answer me."
"Don’t you dare raise your voice at me." Serena said and glared at her. "I already did so much for you, the least you can do is bow your head in my presence."
"What are you...?" Alexa was speechless. What did she just hear from Serena?
The lady she was facing was not the Serena she knew. The way she looked at her was like a predator who got mad that its prey slipped out of its grasp. It was confusing and the worst part was that she didn’t even feel remorse for what she did to Rachael.
"Serena, why did you say those things to Rachael?"
"Because she was acting like a burden and if you let her be, she will definitely bring you down." Serena nonchalantly said and Alexa’s heart throbbed.
"What?"
"She’s a child but she has to know her place. Her mother can’t look after her every single second. She has to be mature and..."
*Smack!*
Serena’s face met with Alexa’s furious palm and her eyes widened. What just happened? She looked up to see Alexa glaring down at her with eyes that could kill.
"Get out." She flared. "Get out of my house. You’re not welcome here."
Serena was flabbergasted. What did she just say to her? First she had the guts to yell at her and then she slapped her. Now she was asking her to leave her house? What house? The one she bought with her money? She was being chased from that house? Was that a joke?
"Heh." She sneered and slapped Alexa in return. "You ungrateful..." she paused her words and watched Alexa touch her face. "You seem to forget that I am the reason you’re able to live in this house."
"Is that so?" Alexa asked, her eyes boring deep into her with a dreadful glare and Serena flinched. When did she learn to glare like that? "I’d be more than happy to leave your house." She said and turned around. "Know that I value my daughter more than a thousand houses."
Alexa went into her room, picked up a few necessary items in a jiffy and got out, heading for Rachael’s room. Serena watched her with displeased eyes.
"What do you think you’re doing?" She asked and in a cold voice, Alexa responded.
"I’m leaving your house." She was just about to open Rachael’s room but before she could reach the door handle, Serena grabbed her hand.
"You’re not going anywhere." She said but Alexa shrugged her hand off.
"It’s either you leave or I do. I will not stay where you are, Serena."
Annoyed, Serena grabbed Alexa’s arm again.
"What stunt do you think you’re pulling? You think I’ll just let you leave just because you don’t want to see my face?" Her grip tightened. "You seem to be forgetting that I’m the one who brought you up, I’m the one who gave you this lavish and reputed life. I am the one... "
"Then take it all." Alexa shouted. "Take all that you gave me, I don’t care." She said,
Her eyes were screaming with anger. There was nothing that hurt her more than the fact that her daughter had to suffer because of this woman she called her sister.
This controlling freak that had the eyes of an obsessive maniac.
"Your life will be miserable." Serena threatened, her expression shifting in anxiety.
"Who cares?" Alexa asked and slapped Serena’s hand away. "I’d rather have my daughter and nothing to my name than have her suffer while having everything at my feet. In this world where I knew no one and understood nothing, there was a child in my belly. That child brought me out of the darkness I was slowly sinking into and I knew that at least, this was something that belonged to me. This child, it was mine."
Tears rolled down her cheeks as she said this.
"And this child that belongs to me, I want to protect her. I want to protect her and make sure she remains happy for the rest of her life." She raised her head. "And I will try to give her that happy life even if it means sacrificing what I have now." 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖
Serena was silent.
All this... all that was because of that dumb little brat. Now she was really regretting not killing her when she was still nothing but a blood clot. She brought this upon herself.
How could she turn this situation around? How could she... ? Her lip slightly curled up as she thought of a devious plan.
"Fine." Serena said. "Maybe I went too overboard with my words. I don’t hate Rachael. I don’t but... the feeling of knowing that I will never be able to have a child of my own puts me on edge and I can’t help being like that towards her."
"What? You’re infertile?" Alexa asked in surprise.
"I didn’t want to say it." Serena said and rubbed her arms, trying to look pitiful. "Being infertile doesn’t give me a reason to say such words to Rachael but I was thinking for you as well. You might not remember but the words I said to Rachael were the exact same words our parents told us on a daily basis. I don’t have a clue on how else to raise and advise a child so I," she bit her lip and looked up. "...I did what I knew how to do?"
