I Am An Illegitimate Child With A Legitimate Reason For Revenge-Chapter 132: She felt even more resentful
Alexa could feel it. She could feel from Rachael’s attitude and forced maturity that she was trying her best. But trying her best for what exactly?
She was still trying to get to the bottom of it when she heard Serena make that statement. What did she mean to not spoil her? Was she okay with this forced maturity? No, maybe ’she’ was the reason behind this forced maturity and angered by this acknowledgement, she immediately confronted her.
Her shocked expression showed she didn’t expect to be asked such a question but aside from that shocked expression was an angry one.
At this point, all the people in the restaurant were already staring at them but nothing could be said to stop them and no pictures were taken either so Serena was nonchalant towards the situation.
"Serena." Alexa called and Serena closed her eyes for a second before opening them, her eyes looking firm and confident once more.
"You’re making a fuss out of nothing." She said and attempted to continue her food in a nonchalant manner but Alexa was too angry to let it slide.
"You fed my daughter with words that ruined her childish mindset, didn’t you?" She accused and Serena slammed her cutleries on the table.
"Don’t be ridiculous. I didn’t say anything bad to her. She just wants to be mature for you so she doesn’t become a burden."
"Serena." Alexa screamed her name. "How could you say that?" She asked, her eyes quivering in spite. "And who put the idea of being a burden in her head? She didn’t know what that word was up until a few months ago. She was okay, she smiled, laughed and played around the house like the world was filled with nothing but goodness. She was smart but only knew how to play pranks with that smartness. She..."
"I didn’t do anything to your daughter, Alexa." Serena said and got up. "If you’re going to accuse me of such a thing, you should remember that she’s also my niece. I wouldn’t want to destroy her life, would I?"
With that, she made her way out of there. Once she was out of sight, she clenched her fists and gritted her teeth, her complexion turning red in furry. Alexa was breaking the leash she had so perfectly tied around her neck.
This was infuriating.
She did so much to get her smile for herself only to be glared upon by those displeased and contemptuous eyes. And all for what? That brat.
She felt even more resentful. That Raymond brat was doing more harm than good. Maybe this was the right time to get rid of her.
She had decided to let her live as long as she remained the silent little brat she has been thus far but if she was going to complicate issues for her then she was better off dead.
Alexa breathed out and looked at Rachael who looked a bit scared. Her own eyes quivered and tears slowly rolled down her cheeks. Her daughter... how could she have been so blind?
She covered her eyes with the back of her palms and dropped her body to sit on the chair. She felt so much like crying but did she have the right?
"Mummy?" Rachael called, reached out for her hand and slowly took them away from her face. "I know I said you shouldn’t cry alone but this is a bit too much." She said, smiling brightly.
Alexa could tell she was trying hard to keep up a smile even when she was scared and she hugged her.
"I’m sorry, baby. I’m so sorry."
"Can we go home first, mummy? People are staring at us." Rachael said.
Alexa took her daughter to the car and drove home in silence. Once they got to the parking lot, she turned around to look at her daughter sitting in her baby seat in the back seat.
"Are you okay?" Rachael asked her first and she nodded.
"I am." She managed to smile. "And you?"
"I’m also okay." 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢
"Rachael, what did your aunt say to you?" She also but Rachael refused to disclose her words. It wasn’t because she was scared or anything of that sort. It was rather because she didn’t want to see her mother lose her temper or be sad.
She had come to realize, with her mother’s reaction, that what her aunt said to her wasn’t true and her mother would never see her as a burden. That was why she was her mother.
Though she was busy a lot, she knew she was trying hard to make time for her daughter. She loved her with all her heart and would do anything for her.
She tilted her head to the side and said with a big smile,
"It’s all in the past."
Seeing her smile, Alexa nodded to herself and said,
"It’s all in the past."
Because Alexa was mad at Serena for what she did, she told herself she would not contact her until she came to apologize (not happening)
She also decided to spend more time with Rachael. She would make up for all the times she missed and all the smiles Rachael refused to release.
Though she was still a little bit mature for her age, she could now freely express what she wanted and also laugh out loud without worrying that she would be some sort of burden.
With the assurance that no matter what she did, she would never be seen as a burden by her mother, she was able to regain most of her innocence and ’be’ a child.
Alexa finally planned out the weekend to spend it with Rachael but that plan had to be reconsidered because once again, she had to take care of her ’important figure’ who came to her office unannounced.
"He should’ve fixed an appointment with me beforehand. I’m sorry but my daughter is more important here." Alexa said over the phone. She was on the line with Raymond’s secretary, the one in charge of handling his schedule.
"I’m sorry ma’am but if he doesn’t have the session this weekend, he might not get another chance till further into the future." He explained and Alexa shut her eyes, her eyebrows furrowing in contemplation and displeasure.
That pitiful guy needed therapy but her daughter also needed her. What to do?
Then, an idea struck her.
"Alright. I’ll be in the hospital in an hour."
