I Am An Illegitimate Child With A Legitimate Reason For Revenge-Chapter 122: Serena’s ploy
In a luxurious diner, and at a table for three, Alexa sat across Serena while Rachael sat in between their sides. They were silent for a while before Serena brought up a topic.
"I watched your speech at the museum opening. It was truly stunning. I’m proud." She said and sipped her red wine while Alexa smiled at her.
"I’m glad." She said, "I put in quite an effort gathering that research material. It wasn’t easy compiling that speech but I made it through."
"Luckily, it came out perfectly." She smiled and looked over at Rachael. "Rachael, I have something nice for you, do you want to take a look at it?"
"Not now, thank you." Rachael immediately declined in a polite tone. "We can take a look at it after the meal. It’s bad table manners to leave the meal halfway, right?"
"Very good." Serena said, lightly pinched her cheek and stroked her hair. "I see you’re learning something extraordinary in that school of yours."
"Of course. I have to make you and mummy proud." She smiled and Serena smiled back.
After the dinner, they all went home together. They lived in a five star apartment and though Serena did not live with them, she slept over a few times.
Serena was living with the pretext that she was Alexa’s sister and Alexa, whose memories had strangely disappeared, believed everything she said.
(And yes, Alexa you see now is Ariel of the past and the little munchkin, yeah, she is both Ariel and Raymond’s child. Boom. I bet you figured that out right away but I still wanted to clarify)
Serena performed a little bit of surgery on Ariels’ face, changing a few features, completely wiping her memories of the past after taking her away from Theo’s clutches that night. She made up all sorts of stories about how Ariel was feeling depressed and sad emotions because of an accident that claimed her husband’s life and also caused her memory loss.
She even went as far as forging a memorial tomb since apparently, his body was never found.
When Serena found out Ariel was pregnant, she so wanted to destroy that child in her womb but then thought it would be nice to have that child under her clutches but each time she saw her, she was reminded of Raymond. The resemblance was too much and she wanted to strangle her a few times but she kept it in and acted like the nice Aunt she was.
Though she did all this in the most convincing manner, Ariel couldn’t help but feel empty and withdrawn so Serena molded her. She molded her into the perfect being she was today. She took her to a great university, brought up her confidence level to never see herself below anyone and gave her a new identity.
And though this brought her up, it was nothing but a deceptive trick to divert her from the person who she really is. Who she really was, rather. Because now, she was a whole different person. A different being.
Serena painted herself as the good and caring sister who stuck close to her when she had nothing and slowly gained her trust. Now, she got to see her smile at her without having to force it out of her.
A good trick, don’t you think?
"Won’t you sleep over tonight?" Alexa asked as she saw Serena at the door.
"I have things planned out tomorrow so I need to leave the country tonight. But don’t worry, I’ll call often, like I always do." She said with a warm smile and Alexa smiled back.
"Alright." They hugged and she left.
After Alexa closed the door, Serena stood still for a moment and then smirked. Her smirk was filled with pure evil intentions. She saw it every time but it was always so amusing.
The girl who used to guard against her so much in the past was currently smiling at her warmly and living a completely normal life while the man she so wished to be with for the rest of her life was somewhere way across the world... suffering in agony.
Her intentions to never see her smile for him were so deep that she went this far. Acting like a loving and caring sister, she could do that. All it took was a touch of kindness and caring attitude and anyone would believe she was the best sister in the world.
She tittered.
"Oblivion really is bliss." She muttered and made her way out of there.
Oblivion truly was bliss. Alexa, living the life of a single mom without knowing the world she left behind... The man she left behind. But that was going to change soon. As fate would have it, those two were meant to cross each other’s paths once more in this life.
"Sorry, I can’t." Jane said to Alexa.
"How come? You’re supposed to be free tomorrow." Alexa said.
"I was but then I have a fiance." Jane said, showing her ring but Alexa couldn’t get it so she spelt it out. "Tomorrow is white day. You know I can’t leave him alone on such a day." She said,
"Oh." Alexa exclaimed.
White day, a day to reciprocate the gift you got on Valentine’s day. Jane had a fiance so they usually spent these lovers’ days together. She sighed.
An important figure was flying in from another country and she had to tend to him for two to three hours. She couldn’t decline it or reschedule to make it convenient for herself because he was a really big shot.
A colleague told her about it and though she didn’t mind gaining more connections, she didn’t so much like dealing with big figures and their troubles. She was the type who would say the most obnoxious and offensive things with a smile even when she had no intentions to provoke them.
She massaged her forehead. Anyway, if she offended anyone, Serena would be there to back her up.
Rachael’s school was currently on break because of a fire accident that occured the previous week so she needed someone to take care of her while she worked and Serena was out of the country too. What was she going to do?
"Can’t you just hire a babysitter?"
