I Am An Illegitimate Child With A Legitimate Reason For Revenge-Chapter 106: I’m sorry, I need to go to my room
Raymond was defeating his enemies and pulling them down like they were flies. He had gotten so much control in the Stein enterprise that many were already referring to him as the next patriarch.
His iron fist was like that of Philip when he was his age. That was the comment most of the old men in the family made in gatherings and events. And Raymond would respond like this,
"I am flattered. But I am sure I still have a lot to learn." As if mocking Philip with those words, he’d glance at him, smile and drink from his champagne.
Philip didn’t know what made Raymond change his mind and why he suddenly became interested in the family affairs but he was proud. Though Yara continuously warned him that Raymond was definitely plotting something, he brushed it off as her being jealous that her child was incompetent and would not get to inherit the family title.
His own hunch also nagged at him but he decided to believe what his eyes were seeing instead of what could’ve been in the dark.
Weeks passed and Christmas approached. And because it was their first Christmas together, Raymond decided to make it precious for Ariel. He asked her where she would like to go but she shook her head and said,
"I don’t want to go anywhere." She smiled. "I just want to spend the day with you. If it snows, it’s good. If it doesn’t snow, it’s also good. I want us to sit together like we were a normal couple, covering up with a big blanket, watching TV and eating cake. Yes, there definitely has to be cake." She chuckled. "And then, we’ll chat a bit. Chat about a few things and then..." Her words were immediately interrupted when Raymond stole a kiss from her lips.
"I’m sorry, I couldn’t hold it back." He said and she smiled at his face. She did the same thing he did and kissed his lips.
"I couldn’t hold it either." She said and he pressed his lips on hers again, engaging in a deeper kiss and she kissed back.
The kiss got heated and Raymond tracked his hands inside her blouse but the moment he heard her moan, he immediately came back to his senses and stopped.
"I... I’m sorry." He apologized and kissed the top of her head. "Come now, tomorrow’s a busy day so let’s go to sleep."
Ariel was confused. Why did he stop...again?
It had been a total of three months since he saved her from the twins and since then, he had never gone past kissing her. She was starting to feel that he was deliberately keeping himself from touching her.
She bit her lips, her heart feeling congested all of a sudden. All that talk about not minding that she had been touched by the twins was all a lie, wasn’t it?
She was sure he hated it and couldn’t stand the thought of putting it in the same hole they used. This was the conclusion she came up with and her heart hurt.
She laid on the bed and backed him.
There were days when they would sleep in the same bed and there were days when they slept separately. She always thought it odd that he didn’t do anything to her while they were in the same bed and now that she thought about this... She couldn’t hold the pain.
"I’m sorry, I need to go to my room." She said to him as she started getting down from the bed and he caught her hand.
"How come? Do you feel unwell?" He asked her but she shook her head, refusing to look at him.
"It’s nothing. I just want to be alone." She said, flung his hand away from hers and left.
Raymond was completely clueless that she had taken notice of his acts and was coming up with the worst possible conclusions. He felt uncomfortable with the way she swung his hand away and left so he went after her.
Ariel went to her room, rested her back on the door and started crying. Slowly, she slid down and folded her arms on top of her knees, silently crying her eyes out.
Raymond got to her room door and proceeded to open the door but it was locked. Ariel never locked her door. Alarmed, he started banging on the door. 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚
"Ariel. Are you in there? Why did you lock the door? Are you sure you’re alright?" He asked but Ariel did not answer which caused him to worry more.
She was scared that if she said even one word, he would immediately know that she was crying. But if she didn’t say anything, he would end up breaking down the door for fear that something bad had happened to her.
She immediately cleaned her eyes and stood to her feet. She made loud footsteps, as if coming from the bathroom and this caught his attention. Then, she cleared her throat before saying,
"I’m alright. I was in the bathroom." She said, and he asked in return.
"Are you sure you’re alright? Why did you lock the door?"
"I just felt like it." She said and leaned her back on the door, "I’m really alright." She said, her voice soft and solemn.
Raymond rested his head in the door and gave out a sigh but he wasn’t relieved. He wanted to see her face. Only if he saw her smile would he be able to accept that she was fine.
"Ariel, open the door." Raymond said but Ariel wasn’t ready to do so. She remained silent, pursing her lips while trying hard to hold in her tears.
"Go back to your room, Raymond." She said, "You’ve got a lot of things to do tomorrow. You should go to sleep."
"I’m not leaving until you come out." He said, "Ariel, what are you thinking about?"
"A lot of things." She answered. "I’m thinking about a lot of things so I want to stay alone for now."
"Ariel, I love you." Raymond said as if reassuring her. "Please, always keep that in mind. If there’s anything that makes you misunderstand me and you feel hurt because of it, please, tell me. I don’t want you hurting in secret. Please."
A short silence followed and Ariel’s tears slowly slid down her cheeks. She shut her eyes and said,
"Alright. Goodnight Raymond."
