Horror Game Designer-Chapter 656: Dream Ghost’s Basic Power
When she stepped out of Du Jing’s home, Tang Hanlu couldn’t help but turn back to look. The crazed murderer had a scary smile on his face. He grabbed Du Jing’s neck with one hand and studied the old lady’s face like it was a piece of art. The deformed children ran out of the home as the elder screamed. They were unwilling to abandon their friends. Even No. 2, who was in the wheelchair, was pushed out.
The ugly children were like little monsters who struggled in the dark. Tang Hanlu felt scared as she saw their faces. She consoled herself by saying that it was normal for people to be averse to ugly and incomplete things. Only monsters would treat them as their kin. Tang Hanlu ran in front, and the children followed her. It was loud and made them an easy target. Tang Hanlu’s heart was filled with conflicts. She was unwilling to stay with these monsters, but considering Du Jing’s wishes, she hesitated.
“The killer appears to enjoy the joy of hunting. He is not after us temporarily. Follow me!”
The children moved slowly, but the murderer only had his eyes on Du Jing. He seemed to have discovered something interesting.
“Do you still remember the world saviour’s name?” The young man tightened his grip on Du Jing’s neck. His eyes slowly moved away from Du Jing to the other children. “She joined Immortal Pharma when she was fourteen and was promoted to a researcher at twenty with the best results. That was when she came into contact with Immortal Pharma’s secrets. When she was twenty-four, she was assigned to Du Jing’s side to assist Immortal Pharma in cultivating these deformed children…
“Let me guess. These children should be similar to the Blood City candidates like us. They are key experiments. Perhaps, Xin Lu’s former saviour was born here.”
His fingers eventually disappeared into Du Jing’s body. “I can freely extract memory from people’s dreams and distort everything. Even though Dream Ghosts are not good at open fights, they are practically invincible in dreams.
“Run! Run to your heart’s content!”
Tang Hanlu ran ahead, and the children stuck close to her. When they entered the staircase, they encountered a big problem. Most of the children had physical disabilities. They couldn’t hurry down the stairs. Plus, some of the kids were so sick that they needed people to carry them.
“I have to abandon some of them.” Tang Hanlu reached the 23rd floor. She knew that if she didn’t do that, the murderer would eventually catch up to them. She pointed at the elevator. “We’ll split up! Those who can’t move quickly can take the elevator!”
Tang Hanlu wanted to split up the children, but the children were unwilling. They carried their immobile friends to wait for the elevator. As the elevator took its time to arrive, the heavy footsteps landed on her heart. The murderer had entered the stairwell and was staring down at Tang Hanlu. The air that entered her lungs was mixed with ice. Tang Hanlu felt her chest filling up with frost. She ran down the stairs and abandoned the children again.
The elevator doors slowly opened. The children waved at Tang Hanlu as they waited for her to join them. Only No. 2 had on a cold expression and told her calmly, “They will return. I hope you won’t regret it then.”
The murderer didn’t go after Tang Hanlu. He turned into the elevator. With the children watching him in fear, he picked up No. 2 who had missing legs.
“0002? He has no presence of an Unmentionable. It looks like No. 2 is not trapped in her nightmare.” The young man sensed that No. 2 was like a puppet. He examined No. 2’s body and discovered a giant wound on the back of his head. “It’s empty?! Has his brain been dug out?” The young man held No. 2’s head and sunk into silence. He was there to find No. 2 through the messy memory. However, No. 2 in Tang Hanlu’s dream was just an empty shell.
The walls receded in colours. Blood drops appeared on the room doors. Several forces were trying to enter this dream.
“You sure are popular, Tang… Ling.”
Gao Ming used the Dream Ghost’s power in the dream. He could drag any living person or ghost into the nightmare. He could weave the dream using the enemy’s memory and force them into a specific identity. Tang Hanlu was Tang Ling’s daughter and the only loophole in her heart. To break down Tang Ling mentally, Gao Ming had Tang Ling become her daughter in her dream and made her most vulnerable fear into an inescapable nightmare. Of course, this power was still limited. After the dream was woven, the enemy and Gao Ming couldn’t operate beyond the dream’s upper limit. For example, before Tang Hanlu turned to No. 0 for help, Tang Hanlu didn’t think ghosts existed in the world. Thus, Gao Ming couldn’t use the power of ghosts. He was merely a ‘crazed murderer’. If he forced through the limitations, flaws would appear in the dream.
Gao Ming’s plan was progressing smoothly, but the Unmetionable protected Tang Ling’s mind. There were also the pre-existing dream locks.
When Immortal Pharma realised that Tang Ling was compromised, they did everything to save her. At Du Jing’s home, the Unmentionable found Gao Ming. They had their first fight. It caused the dream to become unstable.
“If the one trapped in the dream is a Demon God, they would have found the flaw to escape. Unfortunately, Tang Ling is not.” Gao Ming looked at the doors that were about to break. His eyes coloured with mockery. “I’ll ensure that she’ll keep sinking until she reaches the other world. Can you keep up?”
Gao Ming took one step, and he materialised behind Tang Hanlu.
The woman was still running. She finally reached the 20th floor. However, as she turned back, she saw Gao Ming open his arms. The endless shadow surged at her.
“Save me! Save me!”
The glass shattered. Gao Ming helped her leap from the tall building.
“If a person keeps dragging you to jump off a building in your dream, will you think he’s a good or bad person?”
Gao Ming placed his finger on his collar bone. The fingertip cut through his skin. His heart was a door that opened to despair and darkness. “Fall into the deeper sea until I see the truth.”
…
Tang Hanlu jolted awake. She lost her sense of gravity and fell from the chair to the ground. Cold sweat soaked her clothes. She looked at her unharmed body in disbelief. “It was just a dream…”
She scratched her head. She just had a horrible dream. In the dream, a man kept dragging her to jump off a building. She forgot how many times she had fallen off the edge.
