Holy Necromancer: Rebirth of the Strongest Mage-Chapter 1108: Drike’s involvement
Jalen had followed him for the longest time on the battlefields of the Aetherian Realm. He was also the person who seemed to know him best, including his real identity.
For such a person to arrive with such urgency, it definitely signified something important. Chronos was slightly curious about what Jalen wanted to tell him.
"I wonder what he wants to tell me, for him to come so far. I don't believe he would be foolish enough to come here just for an apology."
After finishing his meeting with his father, he had plenty of free time left until his father returned after arranging everything.
He thought about spending that time with Jalen. Even though that person was just a follower, he was still someone that Chronos could share some thoughts with.
He swiftly returned to the garden, where Jalen was waiting for him. At the entrance of the garden, the guards greeted him respectfully and opened the passage for him.
He entered the garden, and approached the center where he saw Jalen sitting, with a cup of tea in his hand. He didn't find anything strange about it, especially not the fact that it was someone who was simply pretending to be Jalen.
"I heard you had something really important to tell me?" he asked, letting Karyk know about his presence.
"Ah, Young Lord!" Karyk quickly placed the cup on the table, and awkwardly stood up, almost dropping the chair behind him. He was like a follower who was stunned to see Chronos behind him.
"Even after spending so much time on the battlefield with me, you are still the same." Chronos laughed, as he shook his head. He approached the table, and sat before Karyk.
The awkward and cowardly behaviour of Jalen put him at more ease, especially since Karyk behaved just like Jalen would have.
"Please don't make fun of me. How could I change? Even if we are not on the battlefield, you are still the man I follow." Karyk answered, respectfully bowing his head.
"If anything, the difference in our status is even more here. You're a descendant of an Ancient Lord, and I'm just a descendant of the Herriet Family that don't even have the heir position yet," he further added, sounding just as awkward.
"That's enough flattery. Tell me what you came here for? I assume that you haven't even returned home yet. So this should be the first place where you came from the battlefield? Why?" Chronos asked Karyk, as he picked up the cup of tea that was placed on his side.
He took a sip of tea, and waited for Karyk to explain.

"I came here because I remembered something really important that I forgot to tell you. After the incident with that brat on the battlefield, it completely slipped my mind."
Karyk slowly approached Chronos, in a very subtle manner as he kept speaking. "But on my way back, I kept thinking about our time on the battlefield and it made me remember something that I thought might be useful for you."
"Oh? And what did you remember?" Chronos asked, growing quite serious. If it was something related to Karyk, then everything was previously information.
"I remember that a storage ring had dropped out of his pocket when he was fighting. I picked it up, but he was busy while fighting, so I didn't have the time to give it to him. And after that, I forgot."
"You said that he was a very dangerous person, even for you. So I thought that if it was a storage ring that belonged to him, then it might hold something that could help you as well."
Karyk quickly brought out a storage ring from his pocket and placed it on the table before Chronos.
"Did you check what's inside?" Chronos asked, looking at the storage ring with grimace. He didn't know what was inside the storage ring, but if it belonged to a person that could even threaten his father, then it might really hold some secrets.
He didn't doubt Jalen's words, or his identity. Especially since Jalen had come out from the battlefield with him. Moreover, even here, he came in the Harriet battleship. There was nothing to give away the fact that he might be someone else.
"I didn't look inside it. I thought that if it's a gift to you, then it should only be seen by you. If it holds some secret, then I don't want to die to keep it a secret." Karyk awkwardly laughed, scratching the back of his head as he moved even closer to Chronos until he was standing right next to him
"It seems that you do know how to use your brain," Chronos reached out his hand, and picked up the storage ring. He used his consciousness to take a look inside the storage ring to see just what was being hidden inside the storage ring.
"Is this the token of the Drike Family? Why would he have something like this?" Chronos was visibly surprised as he looked inside the storage ring, which only had one item.
It was the token of the Drike Family that was used by them to enter the Battlefield of Abyss.
Only the Head of the family could assign these tokens, and if it came from the Drike Family, then it meant the person who gave this to Karyk was the leader of a Major Family, not much weaker than his own family.
It made him have a lot of questions. Did the Drike Family know Karyk's real identity? Were they working with the abyss to destroy the current hierarchy? Why else would the Drike Family Head give something like this to someone who wasn't a part of their family?
It was as if the Drike Family knew the identity of Karyk, and wanted him to enter the battlefield so he could control the other Aetherians.
"The Drike Family is quite scheming." Chronos' expressions darkened at the thought. He didn't see Karyk's hand slowly move behind his back, getting closer.
