Chapter 389: Try to understand

With misty eyes Gina saw Massimo talking to Thomas who was busy with some of his medical equipment, behind the two men the age difference stood Martin and a woman who was familiar to Gina. But because of the pain that pierced her head, Gina finally decided to close her eyes again.

"Malnutrition? What the hell? How could my wife be malnourished, Thomas. Don’t talk nonsense," Massimo snapped loudly at Thomas who had just reported on Gina’s condition. "Every day the waiters are never late in delivering food for my wife, the food made for my wife is also healthy food from the best high quality ingredients. So it really doesn’t make sense for my wife to be malnourished!"

Thomas smiled, knowing Massimo so well that he didn’t take offense at all with his words. "The maids can send the food to the madam, but the question here is whether the madam really eats it or not, sir? Extreme weight loss is one of the most common causes of malnutrition, lucky you called me right away when madam fainted. If it is not possible at this time you must be willing to see Madame in a hospital bed with more medical equipment than I put in my left hand, madam."

Massimo locked his lips tightly hearing Thomas’s words, his blue eyes flickering to stare at the bed where Gina still closed her eyes even though an hour and a half had passed since Thomas put the IV needle in her left hand. After a few minutes of silence, Massimo’s body suddenly stiffened. His head managed to process the sentence Thomas said with some of the confessions that came out of Gina’s lips yesterday when she didn’t come home.

Half running Massimo down from the second floor to his office on the first floor, after arriving at his destination Massimo immediately sat on a chair and directly faced a laptop that never moved from its place. Massimo’s fingers seemed to move swiftly on the keyboard before finally pressing the mouse several times.

"What the fuck..."

Massimo’s words disappeared into the air when he saw what Gina had done in the past two days, no longer watching Gina silently as usual made Massimo chuckle at this moment when he saw Gina throw all the food that was prepared for her into the rubbish bin. Being at home alone allowed Gina to do whatever she wanted, including throwing the food that the maids had painstakingly prepared for her into a small trash bag before being carried out alone to a small trash can located at the back door near the access door to the beach.

The veins in his neck showed how much anger Massimo was now. Without turning off his laptop which had been playing Gina’s activities for the past two days, Massimo exited his study and continued towards the pantry. The few maids who were still standing faithfully by the pantry could only lower their heads even more when they realized their master was passing before them.

"Starting tomorrow when it’s time to eat you must stay by the Madame’s side, make sure my wife really eats the food. Only then can you return to the front house," said Massimo quietly breaking the silence on the first floor which was very cold.

"Yes sir, we understand."

Massimo finished the rest of the wine in the glass that was now in his hands before finally walking away from the front of his servants who were scared to death, hearing the madam fainting made the waiters who had been making and serving food summoned to the greenhouse by Martin. Martin thought that Gina’s fainting was because she had eaten something wrong or had food poisoning, so the servants were called in for questioning one by one, including Daisy the butler who looked very worried seeing Gina lying helplessly on the bed.

"Master..."

"Come back Daisy, bring all your subordinates." Instead of responding to Thomas’ greeting, Massimo gave orders to the butler at his house to return to the maid’s house.

Daisy nodded her head politely. "Yes sir."

Massimo didn’t change his expression when he saw Daisy leave, his focus on Gina still couldn’t be beat by anything.

"Why isn’t my wife awake yet?" Massimo asked Thomas coldly.

"The effect of the medicine I gave Madam did indeed keep her from falling asleep, sir."

"Until when?"

"An hour or two, sir."

Massimo nodded slowly. "Ok, I get it. You can go home now, Thomas."

"Are you serious, sir?" asked Martin and Thomas at the same time, as if they couldn’t believe what they had just heard.

Massimo raised his eyebrows looking at Thomas and Martin at the same time, the faint smile that was on his lips at this moment made him look terrible. "I don’t need to repeat myself, do I?"

As if knowing what was in their master’s mind, Martin and Thomas chose to leave the largest room in the house without arguing. Martin even helped Thomas carry some of his medical equipment that was still scattered on the table, leaving two intact IV bottles to replace the infusion bottles that were currently attached to the pole to flow into Gina’s body.

When Martin’s and Thomas’ footsteps disappeared, Massimo continued his halted steps toward the bed. Arriving at the bed, Massimo did not immediately sit next to Gina. The man just stood silently staring at Gina who was still sleeping, the damn medicine Thomas gave her really made Gina look like a sleeping goddess.

"What more patience should I have trying to understand what you’re doing, honey?" said Massimo hoarsely, the image of when Gina threw away all the delicious food that was on the dining table replayed in Massimo’s memory. "You’re not an explosive nineteen-year-old anymore, you’re a very mature woman now. But why are you acting like this? Is hunger strike a new way to pressure me into granting your wish, then?"

Yes, Massimo thought Gina was just on a regular hunger strike after seeing her throw all the food in the trash. Massimo didn’t see the way Gina forced her entrails out with her own fingers.

"Oh Gina...." Massimo chose to brush his hair roughly and didn’t continue his words anymore, almost being with Gina for the past two weeks made Massimo not aware that Gina’s body had undergone a slight change.

Almost always going to bed early and the messed up diet and the tiredness of being forced to continue serving Massimo’s explosive lust every night made Gina lose a few pounds and this was made worse by Gina’s extreme choice of Diet. Gina’s fear of repeating the history her mother has gone through makes her desperately want to maintain her weight.

Gina’s soft breath finally managed to make Massimo interested in lying on the other side of the empty bed, carefully wrapping his large arm around Gina’s right arm which was free from the IV needle. Massimo slowly closed his eyes. His possessive attitude was still clearly visible when he was sleeping, from the hug in his hand to Massimo’s right leg slapping on Gina’s legs which were covered with blankets, it was very clear. As if afraid that Gina would leave his side again while he was sleeping made Massimo do that.

"Massimo, I’m thirsty..."

The soft voice barely audible managed to make Massimo wake up from his sleep, his eyes still perfectly red looking at the owner of the voice whose lips still looked pale and dry.

"I’m thirsty," Gina repeated quietly.

"Want to drink?"

Gina blinked her eyes slowly in response to Massimo’s question, seeing that Massimo immediately got up and grabbed a glass of mineral water that was already in the glass carefully. Unwilling to make Gina lift her head, Massimo gently pointed the stainless straw at Gina’s lips.

Gina removed the stainless straw from her lips when she had almost finished half of the glass Massimo was holding.

"Enough?"

"Yes."

Massimo smiled, after returning the glass to its original position, Massimo’s focus returned to Gina, who still looked very weak.

"You want to go back to Barcelona?" asked Massimo quietly to break the silence.

The sad look in Gina’s eyes disappeared, replaced with a gleam of enthusiasm. "Yes."

"Miss your family?" asked Massimo again, his tone sounding like he was harboring disappointment.

Gina nodded slowly. "I miss dad and..."

"You can miss your family, but you don’t miss me. To your own husband," Massimo said hoarsely, interrupting Gina’s words.

Understanding the subtle satire Massimo gave, Gina immediately turned her face in another direction. Breaking eye contact with Massimo which is very intense and stressful.

"We’re leaving tonight, shall we?"

Gina’s head quickly turned back to Massimo who seemed to be smiling a smile.

"After your condition improves, of course, I don’t want to see you still have to use IV needles like this when we go to Barcelona. I don’t want to be accused of being violent to the wife I love like before," said Massimo quietly, bringing up a little of what had happened to himself five years ago.

"They’re just too worried about me." Gina dared to defend whoever Massimo was discussing at the moment.

Massimo fixed his gaze on Gina. "You are the one who should know how much I love you, Gina. How could I hurt you? Just seeing you cry makes my chest..."

"Lies!" Gina loudly interrupted Massimo’s words. "Since the beginning of the trouble between our family you have been violent to me, forcing me to be your woman."

"That’s because I love you too much, Gina. Whatever I did to you at that time was simply because I was too afraid to lose you, that’s why I did it when you weren’t ready."

"Not only unprepared, but unwilling," Gina said quietly, her hoarse voice clear to Massimo’s ears.

Massimo’s eyes narrowed. "Ok, let’s end our unproductive conversation here, now you eat first. Daisy already prepared asparagus porridge for you."

"I don’t like asparagus, it tastes weird."

"Sorry, you have no other choice, honey. Thomas recommended the food for you, so you can’t turn it down."

Gina shook her head, again giving Massimo a refusal. But Massimo didn’t care about that, because Massimo chose to grab his cell phone and engage in conversation with Daisy. Massimo ordered Daisy to immediately deliver the asparagus porridge for Gina.

"Five minutes your porridge is ready," said Massimo gently.

"I don’t like it, Massimo."

Massimo smiled lopsidedly. "Hmmm... no, this time you like it, honey. Unless you prefer to be in the hospital I’ll let you not eat the porridge."

"I don’t want to be hospitalized!" Gina screamed in panic.

"Then you must follow the instructions Thomas gave you."

Gina looked at Massimo with disapproval, very angry and annoyed. However, realizing that she was in a powerless position at this time, Gina chose to give in and did not continue her debate with Massimo to discuss the issue of asparagus porridge or the issue of the sentence Massimo said earlier.

"Help me to the bathroom, Massimo."

Massimo smiled. "Want to pee?"

Gina shook her head. "I have to change pads, it’s already uncomfortable."

The mischievous smile on Massimo’s face disappeared as Gina finished his sentence, but panic immediately appeared on Massimo’s face as Gina continued.

"Are you serious?"

Gina nodded slowly. "Yeah, let’s help me to the bathroom. This IV needle is really annoying, can’t I take it off?"

"Don’t mess around! Look on the table, there are still two more IV bottles that need to get into your body."

Gina’s head turned sharply at the table Massimo had mentioned, staring in horror at the two intact IV bottles. Gina grimaced a little. "I’m cured, I don’t want to linger on the IV."

Massimo smiled. "We’ll see, now let’s go to the bathroom. Still want to go to the bathroom, right?"

"Yes."

Massimo carefully removed the blanket that covered Gina’s body and grabbed Gina’s body to get up, when Gina managed to stand up, Massimo’s eyes widened when he saw a red stain coming from Gina. Instantly Massimo’s mind flashed back to the night he touched Gina for the first time, the bloodstains that were far more numerous than the ones on his bed at the moment made Massimo both happy and proud because he had succeeded in becoming the first man for Gina.

"What is it?" Gina asked quietly, breaking Massimo’s thoughts. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

"No, it’s nothing. Come on, let’s go to the bathroom, let me carry the IV bottle."

Gina nodded slowly and started to walk carefully towards the bathroom without looking at the bed which was already dirty with her menstrual blood.

"You can do it yourself, can’t you?"

"What?" asked Gina confused.

"Change the pads, you can do it yourself, can’t you?"

Gina pressed her fingers that were already gripping Massimo’s hand which finally made Massimo wince in pain.

"It hurts, honey."

"It’s your fault, don’t talk like that. Quickly help me to the bathroom, it feels really uncomfortable."

Without even being told Massimo actually knew, Massimo stepped back and guided Gina to the bathroom. After making sure Gina arrived safely in the bathroom, Massimo had plenty to do. Starting from preparing clean clothes for Gina and unpacking the sheets so as not to embarrass Gina. Knowing Gina had been long enough for Massimo to know what his wife’s true nature was like.
