Chapter 91: Chapter 91: I’ll Fight You with Everything I Have

Desmond Grant saw Kiana Sutton, and with a knife in hand, took step after step toward her.

Kiana Sutton stared at the sharp military knife in his hand, and, out of fear, instinctively took a step back.

"Little beauty, you’re really filial, huh? Even after your greedy, selfish mom tried to sell you off, you still came running to save her!"

Kiana grit her teeth, looking at Desmond with extreme disgust.

He was the one who used Hannah Lowell and Joshua to threaten her to come here, yet now he pretended to be the good guy.

Kiana pulled out a notepad and scribbled down a few words for Desmond to see.

"How much does she owe you?"

Desmond gave a wicked grin and raised one finger, "One million."

Hannah’s face changed dramatically. She shouted at Desmond, "I clearly only borrowed five hundred thousand from you!"

"Yeah, when you borrowed it, it was five hundred thousand. But with all this time, the interest has piled up—it’s way more than that now. Not to mention, you lied to me last time, said you’d let your daughter marry me, and I ended up getting beat up because of it. Medical bills, treatment fees, all sorts of emotional damages—it’s already way past a million."

"You... that’s extortion!"

"Extortion?" Desmond smirked triumphantly. "If you’ve got the guts, go ahead and report me!"

As soon as Desmond finished talking, the people around burst out laughing, mocking Hannah for her ignorance and naïveté.

Kiana’s expression couldn’t be uglier; she glared coldly at Hannah. "Where’s the money?"

Hannah didn’t dare look at Kiana. One glance and Kiana knew she’d gambled it away—and lost, again.

Kiana was furious and disappointed; not caring about her husband, son, or daughter, all Hannah ever thought about was gambling.

Sometimes, Kiana really wanted to crack open Hannah’s skull just to see what was inside.

But now, no matter how angry or disappointed she was, it wouldn’t help.

She wrote down some words, earnestly handing them to Desmond.

Desmond slowly read each word Kiana had written: "I don’t have that much money. Let her go first, I’ll pay you back bit by bit."

Desmond let out a mocking laugh and threw Kiana’s notebook to the ground.

Kiana’s face changed a shade, and in the next second, Desmond’s knife came straight at her face.

She was so scared she couldn’t move. Hannah thought Desmond was about to kill Kiana and shrieked in terror, "Desmond, what are you doing?!"

Desmond ignored Hannah and lightly slapped Kiana’s cheek with the flat of the blade.

Seeing her pale, pitiful face, he felt a surge of pride. "No money, huh? That’s easy. I’ll give you two choices."

Kiana glared at Desmond, fists clenched tight.

"First option, since your mother loves gambling so much, I might as well help you out—cut off both her hands. That way, she’ll never gamble again."

These words scared Hannah into crying and shouting, "No! Kiana, don’t pick that one! If Mom loses her hands, I’ll die!"

Kiana squeezed her eyes shut tight.

"Second, last time your mom promised to marry you off to me. But before I got to do anything, I got beat up for nothing. There’s no way I’m swallowing my pride—so how about you serve us all here in front of my boys tonight? Maybe I’ll cut you some slack and give you a few more days to pay up!"

Kiana’s eyes snapped open. Desmond claimed to give her two choices, but really, he was pushing her to a dead end.

"Kiana, pick the second! You have to pick the second..."

Kiana hadn’t made a choice yet, but Hannah had already chosen for her.

To Hannah, so what if she slept with someone—she couldn’t lose her hands.

Hearing Hannah’s words, Kiana felt as if knives were stabbing her heart. Even now, Hannah couldn’t see her own faults and still wanted Kiana to pay for her mistakes.

Desmond watched Kiana’s stubborn, pained expression, his desire rising. It had been a long time since he’d seen a woman this tough and strong.

The knife in his hand slowly slid down to Kiana’s neck, the tip splitting the buttons of her shirt.

Kiana’s face changed again and in a flash, she shoved him away!

Desmond was caught off guard and almost fell to the ground, held up only by his two goons.

Kiana’s sudden move instantly enraged Desmond.

"Looks like you’ve already chosen the second!"

As he spoke, Desmond swung his knife fiercely down toward Hannah’s hand.

"Ah..."

Hannah let out a scream, clamping her eyes shut.

Realizing she didn’t feel any pain in her hand, Hannah cautiously and fearfully opened her eyes, and when she saw what had happened, her tears instantly began to flow.

She broke free and threw her arms tightly around Kiana, helpless and frightened.

"Kiana... Kiana, are you okay?"

Just now, as the knife was about to strike Hannah’s hand, Kiana didn’t have time to think—she rushed to shield Hannah’s hand with her own.

The blade was razor sharp, cutting right to the bone, blood pouring out from between her fingers.

Kiana’s face turned white with pain. Tears streaming, she looked at Hannah and tried to gesture, but her fingers hurt so badly she couldn’t even sign simple words.

"Ah..." Hannah had never imagined Kiana would take that blow for her. Losing control, she screamed, "Desmond, my daughter can’t speak and you hurt her hand—how will she communicate now? You bastard! I’ll kill you!"

She lurched forward, trying to hit Desmond, but was kicked to the floor by one of his henchmen. Kiana, gritting through the pain, ran over and shielded Hannah with her body.

Seeing Kiana’s small frame protecting her, Hannah felt true guilt and regret for the first time.

Tears blurred her vision. She reached out, grabbing Kiana, bawling hysterically, "Kiana..."

"Bang..."

With a huge crash, the private room door was kicked open—Joshua Sutton and Miles Goodman rushed in.

When Kiana saw Joshua, her heart plummeted.

Joshua!

Shouldn’t he be taking his exams? Why is he here?

And as soon as Joshua and Miles saw Kiana’s injured hand, their faces changed immediately.

"Sis!"

"Kiana!"

Desmond’s thugs saw two uninvited guests rush in and threw punches right at them. 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮

Back when Miles idolized Ethan Sinclair, he joined the army after Ethan did and trained for years—these guys were no match for him.

Besides, after bumping into Joshua downstairs and realizing something was wrong, Miles had already called the police.

The cops arrived quickly.

Seeing things spiraling out of control, Desmond tried to run, but was kicked to the floor by Miles, groaning, "You goddamn bastard, how dare you hurt my Kiana—I’ll fucking kill you!"

Miles, eyes red with rage, unleashed punches and kicks on Desmond, avenging Kiana.

Desmond had no strength to fight back, only able to kneel and beg for mercy, "I was wrong! I won’t do it again!"

The police cars arrived quickly. Desmond was barely conscious, and Miles couldn’t be bothered with him anymore—he ran straight to Kiana.

Seeing Kiana’s hand, he was furious. "Kiana, your hand..."

Joshua saw all ten of Kiana’s fingers bleeding and broke down in tears, "Sis, I’ll take you to the hospital. Your hand will be okay, I swear."

He reached out to touch Kiana, but she shoved him away with her elbow. Crying, she looked at him and, fighting back pain, angrily gestured, "Why are you here at this time?"
