His Mute Wife: He Can't Sleep After She Left-Chapter 34: Kiana Sutton, I Like You
Kiana Sutton wrote something down and handed it to Amy Manning. "Amy, I heard Harold Young’s daughter was hospitalized. How... is she doing now?"
"Don’t worry. Harold Young ’resigned out of guilt.’ President Sinclair considered that he’s worked for Evercrest Group for over a decade—maybe he didn’t accomplish much, but he sure worked hard—so he gave his wife a hefty sum of money. And his daughter is fine now."
Kiana Sutton nodded, feeling pretty complicated inside.
"As for that Winter Sheridan, she bullied everyone, relying on her connection with Harold Young. Now, practically everyone at the company knows about them. She’s too ashamed to stay any longer."
Kiana nodded again, not feeling any satisfaction at all from getting revenge.
Just then, Stella stormed up to Kiana, glaring fiercely at Amy Manning.
Amy didn’t dare mess with Stella. She gave Kiana a "take care" look, then hurried back to her workstation.
"Kiana Sutton, you’re quite something. Two birds with one stone—you kicked out both Harold Young and Winter Sheridan from Evercrest Group."
Kiana didn’t want to acknowledge Stella and didn’t even look at her.
Her attitude made Stella even angrier. Thinking of something, Stella leaned into Kiana’s ear and sneered, "Kiana, do you really think you’ve won? Brother Ethan actually knew about Winter Sheridan bullying you a long time ago, but he never helped you. You know why?"
Kiana shot Stella a cold look.
"Your whole family ruined my sister’s life. You think he’d let you off easy?"
Stella left, very pleased with herself. Kiana held her pen so tightly that it took her a while to slowly relax her grip.
Stella watched Kiana’s face return to normal, looking extremely displeased.
She’d thought that maybe Kiana would storm off to find Ethan Sinclair, and since Ethan already hated Kiana, if he saw her making a fuss, he’d definitely be even more disgusted—might even kick her out of Evercrest Group, or maybe even file for divorce.
She hadn’t expected this damn Kiana to be so tolerant.
And as for Harold Young and Winter Sheridan—what a couple of useless idiots. Couldn’t even drive out one Kiana.
But, Kiana dodged the first bullet. No way she’s dodging the next one.
Seeing Evan Shepherd head for Kiana, Stella’s lips curled into a wicked smile.
Evan placed a cup of coffee in front of Kiana. When she looked up at him, he gave her a gentle smile. "You okay?"
Kiana nodded and gave a thumbs-up to thank him.
Not long after, Amy came running over. "Kiana, Evan, it’s lunchtime. Let’s go eat together."
When the three got to the cafeteria, there weren’t many people there.
Evercrest Group’s cafeteria serves both Chinese and Western cuisine. They hire certified five-star chefs.
Kiana had no appetite, and her overall spirit was pretty low too.
"Ah... Ethan... It’s President Sinclair..."
Amy was looking at the entrance like a fangirl. Kiana turned her head—and there was Ethan Sinclair and Stella.
Kiana whipped her head back, her heart skipping a beat. Why was Ethan Sinclair coming to eat in the cafeteria?
The moment Ethan arrived, the once-busy cafeteria suddenly went dead silent.
The employees all paused, waiting for the CEO to issue orders; the whole scene was like an emperor visiting back in the old days.
Stella glanced at Kiana, then smiled at Ethan. "President Sinclair, let’s go sit over there."
Ethan also spotted Kiana and noticed the man sitting across from her. His brows knitted tightly.
The two of them walked over. The others immediately cleared a space, with the cafeteria manager and head chef hurrying over respectfully.
"President Sinclair, what would you like to eat today?"
Ethan glanced at the dishes in front of Kiana—mapo tofu, shredded potatoes, and cold cucumber salad.
All vegetarian!
Ethan whispered a few words to the manager. Soon after, the manager told the servers to bring dishes to every table.
They delivered abalone, seafood, and all sorts of clay pot soups.
Amy’s eyes practically turned into stars at the spread on the table.
"Wow, I wish President Sinclair would come to the cafeteria every day. We’d get so much delicious food all the time."
Evan chuckled softly and picked up a piece of beef for Amy. "Didn’t you just say you were hungry? Eat up."
"Yeah, yeah, eat, eat... Dinner and a view of my dream guy’s perfect face—life is complete."
Amy looked blissful, while Kiana felt a mountain of pressure.
Ethan Sinclair was sitting not far from directly across from her; one glance up and she could see him.
And Stella glued to Ethan’s side. Ethan doted on Stella and took her everywhere.
Well, of course, Stella is the little sister of his ’white moonlight.’
"Kiana, you barely ate anything today. Here, have a shrimp."
At Evan’s words, Kiana looked down and saw he’d already put a peeled shrimp in her bowl.
Kiana waved her hand, anxiously gesturing for Evan not to peel shrimp for her... 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖
"Evan, I want your shrimp, too! You can’t just peel them for Kiana and not for me. Don’t be such a double standard!"
Amy’s voice wasn’t small, so everyone around probably heard it.
Feeling a cold, icy gaze sweep across her, Kiana’s body went rigid, like sitting on pins and needles.
"Wow... guys, look outside—someone’s making a confession!"
Someone shouted, and everyone’s attention shifted outside.
The burning stare faded, and Kiana let out a small breath of relief.
But the next second...
"Hey, there are words up there."
"Kiana... Uh, something with ’Sutton’..."
"Kiana! Sutton! I! Like! You! Be! My! Girlfriend!"
Hearing her own name, Kiana’s just-released breath got stuck in her throat again.
Of course, Amy grabbed Kiana’s arm, all excited. "Kiana, look, someone’s confessing to you!"
Two drones carried big red banners flying circles around Evercrest Group, and several more drones were carrying colorful balloons—such a grand scene.
Kiana felt totally out of sorts. She glanced instinctively at Ethan Sinclair, only to see him looking at her coldly. If looks could kill, she’d have been sliced and diced for sure.
"It’s not me! Probably someone with the same name!"
Amy had no clue about sign language. Kiana was just gesturing in hopes Ethan would see, so he wouldn’t misunderstand.
Her phone on the table suddenly rang. She picked it up—Quinn Sinclair had sent her a WeChat message.
"Sis-in-law, how’s this trick?"
Kiana sent back a "?"
"Someone confessed to you—did my brother get jealous? I’m telling you, if he gets jealous, it means he still cares about you. You gotta seize the opportunity!"
