Chapter 204: Fight Or Flight 2

Elián;

Seun is on the floor, cradling Anwil in his arms in a way that shields the baby. In front of them is a massive, badly wounded brown bear, fighting off two cloaked men.

That’s Kishan. My throat tightens, and just then Seun looks up. Our eyes meet, and the fear I see in his eyes wraps fingers around my heart that squeeze tightly.

The bear in front of him turns to him, and I swallow as I watch Seun then shift into a completely white bear with bright blue eyes. He’s massive but not as big as Kishan. With one last look at me, he covers Anwil completely in his arms and runs off in the opposite direction.

What’s going on??

My gaze shifts back to Koda, King Wilhlem, Zephan and Rhydian who are fighting to protect each other, but above all shield their Father.

My vision blurs as a subtle ringing takes up my head. The screaming, the smell of fire, and fear... everything... Is too much.

The darkskinned woman in the middle of all this chaos and destruction stares blankly at Wilhelm as the Alphas try their best to shield him from the coming attacks.

"You celebrate while your world rots," she speaks, with her voice echoing across the space.

"Your kind ripped families apart, and you think fate will allow you to welcome a new addition to your home?" She adds, and I look at King Wilhelm in bewilderment.

He has a history with this girl?

"What better way to plant your feet in the ground... than taking what gives you the most joy?" The girl continues, and I blink in dumbfoundment.

"Calisí!" King Wilhelm screams, calling her by the name she introduced herself as earlier. The whole atmosphere seems to tremble with his rage,

"How dare you..." He begins, but Calisi cuts him off.

"Dare?" She laughs like a woman with a mind riddled with insanity. "I do more than dare." She whispers, and as Gravemaw soldiers start rushing at her, a ring of red fire suddenly surrounds her. Burning hot and bright enough to keep the guards away from her.

I look up, where the ring came from, and see another cloaked figure, levitating in the air, right above her. Like a silent, ominous shadow watching over her. Who is that?

"Tell me, King Wilhelm. What do you love the most?" Calisi coos, and I swallow as I watch.

I hide myself properly behind the fallen pillar in front of me as I watch the chaos unfold.

I shouldn’t be here. I can’t do much to help, but I can’t just leave them all here like this... I can’t bring myself to do it.

I’m pulled back to reality when a bright green orb starts darting towards me. My eyes widen, and I scramble backwards, but I’m not fast enough. I shut my eyes, expecting to get hit, but to my shock, nothing happens.

When I open my eyes, I realise that Koda had jumped in front of me and taken the hit.

My heart crumples into my stomach when I see the gaping wound on his chest as his fur starts soaking with red blood.

Although he’s wounded, his beat formhurridly inspects me, to be sure I’m fine, and when he’s sure I am, he lets out a gruff.

Queen Cassia, who didn’t know I was still here, rushes over to me and crouches beside me. She reaches out to Koda’s wound, but as soon as he sees she’s with me, he gets up and rushes back to his brothers.

"What’s happening?" I whisper to Queen Cassia, and she sniffles as she grabs me firmly and starts pulling me with strength I never expected her to have.

"You shouldn’t be here, Elian, you’ll get hurt!" She scolds over the chaos, and I resist her pull.

"But I’m a primordial! Let me help!" I scream back as I yank my arm away from hers, and she blinks at me.

"I can’t leave you all here!" I add, and she wipes tears rolling down her face.

"How are you going to help, Elian? You haven’t mastered your abilities yet. We can not afford you getting hurt. You need to..." She begins, but is cut off when the mad woman in the middle of the chaos suddenly screams her name.

"Cassia!!!" My eyes widen with Queen Cassia’s in alarm, and suddenly, hooded figures materialise out of thin air, surrounding Queen Cassia and me.

"Cassia!" King Wilhelm screams in what seems to be panic, and before I can process anything, Queen Cassia shifts into her beast form.

"I’m taking it from here." Elein suddenly says, and without warning, he pushes forward.

I feel myself squeeze into a quiet, comfy space, and although I can still see and hear everything, my body isn’t mine anymore.

I watch Elien fight off the figures with Queen Cassia, and although we suffer a few hits, it’s nothing too bad.

As Elien fights, my eyes catch something just in the corner. Bram.

Sneaking away from the chaos with his face pale as snow. My chest tightens in disgust and disbelief. Of course. When danger came, he ran. Leaving behind the Alpha he has been in hot pursuit of.

As Queen Cassia and I fight, I notice that inasmuch as she’s trying to protect herself, she’s also trying to shield me. And deep inside my bones, I know, with absolute certainty, that I would die before letting anyone hurt her.

The cloaked figures around us vanish, and that’s when I feel it. Something dark. Something ancient. A presence in the mist that isn’t Calisí’s.

A man suddenly appears before me. He has red hair, with cloth tied over his eyes, and red energy crackling around him. I can’t see his eyes, but everything about him unerves me.

Queen Cassia tries to jump in front of me, but with one wave of his hand, she goes flying to the side, and my heart dies as I watch her tumble to the ground.

He stretches his hand out to me, and as an orb of crackling red light begins to form at his fingertips, Elien’s eyes start darting around for some kind of weapon he can use.

However, before he can send the blast at him, Rhydian’s wolf suddenly pounces beside him, chomping down furiously on his hand.

The man screams in pain, and in that second, a red blade materialises from thin air in his other hand, and a scream escapes me as he shoves the long sword into Rhydian.

"Rhydian!!" I scream, pushing past Elien and regaining control of our body as I rush to Rhydian.

The man vanishes, and Rhydian shifts back to his human form. He’s completely naked, and there’s a massive wound along his chest and down to his torso.

"No. No, no, no... No!!" I scream as I try to scoop back the blood escaping.

"No!!" I scream again, and King Wilhelm’s voice screams at me.

"Elian!! Heal him!!" I turn back to the king with wide eyes, wondering how I’m supposed to do that.

"Now!! That was blood magic. If you don’t help him, he’ll die!!" King Wilhelm screams further, and I stare at Rhydian’s sweaty face.

His face has started losing colour, and his eyes are fluttering shut.

"What do I do? What do... What do I do!!?" I mutter to myself in panic as I hug Rhydian to myself.

Panicked tears start escaping me as I hold him to myself while swaying back and forth.

Chaos continues around us, but heaven knows I couldn’t give a fuck.

I was wrong. I don’t hate Rhydian. I don’t hate him!! I don’t want him to die!! What do I do!??

I keep crying in panic when I feel Rhydian weakly grab my robe.

I pull away and look down at him, and before my eyes, I watch the open wound on his torso begin to close.

He’s... healing??
