I stare down at the orb in my hands as I keep moving. It’s the only source of light and warmth in this darkness.

I suddenly feel someone beside me. I look up, and confusion coats me when I see Zephan.

He smiles warmly as he helps shield the orb in my hands and the flickering stops.

I feel someone else on my other side, and when I check who it is, my jaw drops in bewilderment.

My thoughts stop when I notice the orb has started glowing a bright, steady blue light under both of their protection.

I look up ahead and spot Koda smiling at me, and without wasting a second, I rush over to him. He wraps his arm around me, and gently kisses my head.

When I look back, I see Zephan and Zethar smiling proudly at us and the orb grows brightly.

"You did good, my love," Koda whispers, and just as everything fades to black, I hear a baby’s tender, delicate laughter.

My eyes fly open, and before I can process anything, a violent rush travels up my throat.

I sit up instantly and throw my mouth to the side of the bed and puke escapes me.

I groan as I empty my stomach to the ground, and Koda who was fast asleep beside me wakes up.

"Elián? Are you okay??" He questions in panic as he also sits up and kneels beside me to hold me.

I finally stop vomiting, and tiredly wipe my lips with the back of my hand.

I slump against Koda, and I can feel his hands trembling.

"Are... are you okay? What happened? Did you eat something wrong last night?" He questions and I shake my head weakly as I press myself harder into him.

"No...Nothing that I know of..." I pant, and he lets out a shaky breath.

"Hold on. Let me get you..." He begins, but I cut him off as I wrap my arms around him.

"No... just...just stay with me for a bit," I reply as I fill my lungs with the scent of him, and he sighs.

"Alright. But let me know the moment anything starts feeling wrong." He replies and I nod in exhaustion.

He sits cross-legged and gathers me into his arms and legs, and I just lay against his chest as it feels like I belong there. In his arms and thighs.

He kisses my hair, and as he pats my back, my mind runs back to the dream. What did it mean??

This is the second time I’m seeing that orb. Why? What is it?

Am I going to get some kind of magical orb I have to protect?

"Wooo!!!!" Calisí’s voice rips through the silence, as I walk through the rocky path.

"Aoow!!" She screams again, and I listen to her voice echo in the distance as I get closer to her.

"Does that feel refreshing?" I question, and she replies, with a voice filled with excitement.

"Come. Join me." She adds as she rushes over to me, and grabs my arm.

I follow her slowly as she pulls me.

"Careful. We can’t have you falling off this cliff." She says, and I stop moving.

I feel the night’s breeze on my face and I listen to the silence of the forest.

"Calisí... what does it look like?" I question, and the silence stretches for a second.

"Peace." She replies, and I raise a brow.

"The moon is almost full. The clouds are drifting slowly past it." She adds, and I let my mind paint the picture as she speaks.

"Beneath us are canopies of trees so dense, one can’t see the ground." She continues, and I listen attentively.

"It’s beautiful, Avaren. It’s... truly beautiful." She concludes, and I smile.

"Ahhh!!!" I suddenly scream at the top of my lungs, and I feel Calisí jerk beside me, however she starts giggling.

"Huh... you were right. It does feel good." I note, and she starts laughing.

I fall silent as I listen to her laugh, and I feel my heart tighten.

"Avaren, promise me you won’t take this away from me!" She pushes and I let out a breath.
