I walk into Elian’s room, and I find him sprawled over the bed. A smile splits my face at how exhausted he looks, and it takes a lot for me not to giggle.

He’s had a busy past five days with Koda. Being on the receiving end, it’s only natural for him to be this... exhausted.

At least he’s eating. He should be back to full health by tonight.

"Mother!" He calls in shock as soon as he sees me, and I freeze as my heart skips a beat.

Mother?

He... he called me mother?

That too, so... so effortlessly.

I quickly fix my face so he doesn’t realise how stunned or excited I am by this.

I watch him struggle into a sitting position, and I sit gently beside him.

"Feeling better?" I question, and he steals a glance up at me through his lashes, before nodding.

"I... I want to apologise for the way I spoke to you. I... I didn’t mean it. It was... I was just... I’d never be so rude to you in my right mind." He apologises, and I stare at the little squirrel as his lips form a little pout.

Oh! He’s so adorable!!

"I’m sorry..." he adds, and I reach for his face. I gently pinch his cheek, and he looks up at me with his lips still pressed in a pout.

"I’m not upset with you, Elián. It was your heat talking. And I should be apologising to you for chaining you up." I reply, and he turns back to look at the hole in the wall.

"Yeah... that didn’t go how either of us thought it would go." He replies, and I can’t hold back my laughter.

I throw my head back as the laughter escapes me.

"Yeah! You surpassed all my expectations," I laugh harder, and I watch his face turn red as he battles to stop his smile.

"I came here to tell you that Koda will be back. He insisted on learning to heat water himself... says he wants to give you a warm bath. Hilda is currently teaching the temperature that is right for skin as tender as yours. He’ll be back soon." I say, and as he looks up at me with shocked eyes, glee fills my heart when I see the mark on his neck.

I gently touch the mark on my neck as I leave the room. His mark is a combination of his and Koda’s essence. A mark that symbolises true union.

A flower for him, and the bear for Koda.

They’ve both found their safe places in this storm called life, and it pleases me.

’Koda plans to propose to and marry Elián at the soonest convenience. He wants you and Rhydian to be present to share in the joy with him. Will you be able to make it?’

I stare at the paper in my hands, and all I hear in the silence is the sound of my heart breaking.

I stare up at the window just a few feet away, and my gaze locks on the pure, light blue sky.

A long sigh escapes me, and a shudder runs through me.

I will attend the wedding because I want to see Elián. Because I miss him.

Because I’m happy for Koda, as well as him. In places I failed... Koda has obviously filled the gap.

I also need to apologise to Elián. I was a fool. A fucking idiot.

I trusted an outsider over him.

I called him insecure and shallow.

Constantly, I have hurt him, and he always gave me chances to rectify my actions.

What assurance do I have that I’ll get that chance now?

I’m pulled out of my thoughts when there’s a knock on my door.

I turn to it, and that irritating voice follows.

"Alpha Rhydian? May I come in? You called for me..." He says, and I shove the piece of paper into my pocket as I stand up and face the door.

"Come in, Bram," I reply. Just then, the door creaks open.

I walk cautiously into Rhydian’s room, wondering why on earth he suddenly called for me.

He’s been acting weird lately. Pulling away from me. And now, He’sh suddenly asked for me. Has that aide of his found something?

I need to get rid of that pest!!

I stare at Rhydian as I shut the door behind me, and my heart skips a beat as I stare at the perfect man standing in front of me.

He’s completely topless. His flawless dark skin glows under the morning sunlight. My eyes dart to the dragon tattoo spiralled along his left arm. I’ve always wondered why he has a tattoo of a dragon on himself. I can understand the wolf on his chest, but the dragon?

"You’re looking radiant this morning. I trust your night was good." He says, and I look up at him in confusion.

Did he just compliment me? The same fuck who’s been giving me attitude complimented??

I force a smile, and he smiles back.

"My night was good. Yours?" I reply, and he grins brightly as he starts walking over to me.

I step back as he gets closer to me, but to my shock, he closes the gap between us.

He places his hand on the door above my head and grabs my waist with his other hand.

My eyes widen as he yanks me closer to himself, and my heart starts pounding.

What in fucking hell is going on!?

"You look inviting today." He whispers as his grey eyes look me over, and a shudder runs through me.

Wait. Has he... has he eventually fallen for me?

No! It’s too soon.

But then, he never gets this close to me.

Could it be that he’s found out something about me, and he’s trying to get me to let my guard down??

"Elian is getting married to Koda." He suddenly says, and my heart stops.

Wait. WHAT!?

"I want you to come with me to the wedding. As my plus one." He adds, and I pause as I stare at him.

Oh... so that’s what’s happening.

He’s hurting cause Elian wants to tie the knot with Koda, and he has been forgotten. He wants to use me as a rebound. How cute!!

"Oh! That’s good news! Your family must be very happy about the new addition. Of course, I would go with you. It’ll be an honour." I reply with full sweetness and a bright smile, and he smiles at me.

Mt hear skidds to a stop when he suddenly lowers his head and plants a kiss against my lips.

"Thank you." He whispers as he pulls away from me, and I can not help my smirk.

Oh!!! This is awesome!! I have him right where I need him.

I can use this heartbreak of his to my advantage.
