HEIRESS REBORN: MARRYING HER EX-FIANCÉ-Chapter 69: Freya’s downfall (1)
As one would have expected, Freya’s birthday banquet became a trending topic amongst the wealthy families for the days ahead. Especially her presentation that seemed to have not gone as planned.
The genius Young miss of Easmond was actually not the genius, but the good-for-nothing and playboy Young master.
The Young miss had built her genius persona on top of his medical books in their childhood, when her reputation as a genius had begun to spread around.
The Young miss who had been highly praised to the skies suddenly got dragged to the mud after the secret was out.
Many that envied Freya immediately mocked her name in private. Her admirers who still believed in her denied the rumors and claimed it was the good-for-nothing Young master Easmond’s doing.
The commotion had different reactions, and all eyes were fixed on the Easmond family, hoping to witness how the matter would be resolved.
Of course, the Old madam Easmond’s words did not go by unnoticed. The young misses who were secretly hoping to marry into the Kratos family, poured all kinds of insults on her name.
A mistress would be always a mistress at heart. Even if the peasant had been wearing phoenix feathers, the peasant would always be a peasant.
The Madams and Old madams who were hoping for their daughters and granddaughters to marry into the Kratos family, also spat on her name.
Among the rumors were suspicions of the late Old madam Easmond’s death. What if the current Old madam had done something to the late one? Her illness back then was very mysterious and the late Old master Easmond praised as one of the best medical doctors could not even cure his first wife.
Seed of suspicion sprouted into a bud and many were looking at the Old madam Easmond as though she was the culprit behind the late Old madam Easmond’s death. She must have done something back then.
Who knows if she had poisoned the late Old madam Easmond and seduced the late Old master Easmond with her foxy tricks?
The reputation of the Easmond family got dragged into the mud ruthlessly because of the terrible rumors. Freya had not stepped out of her room ever since her birthday banquet. Old madam Easmond had suddenly aged overnight with her son begging her to eat something.
As for Sienna, she was unable to do anything. Although she had married into a medical family, she had no clue on how to save her family.
Her acquaintances from the main branch hospital in the New York city had ignored their calls. Her messages had not even been answered and her family did not even bother to offer help.
A married daughter was like spilled water. The Easmond family was now different from the past. It wouldn’t do them good to associate with the Old madam Easmond’s family anymore.
As long as their daughter was the old woman’s daughter-in-law, they would steel their hearts against her pleas.
It would be different if she divorced from the second master of the Easmond family. They could send her directly out of the country.
But Sienna could never do leave the Easmond family. Her daughter was still here and suffering in darkness. As for her mother-in-law and husband, Sienna could care less about them.
Her husband cherished his mother more than her, the wife and mother of his child. Their daughter was suffering both internally and externally, yet he had not once gone to see her ever since the birthday banquet. He was only worried for his mother’s health.
Before now, he was like a proud father who could do anything for his daughter. Now, he has been only worried for his mother and put all the blame on their daughter.
In the hallway, Sienna stared coldly at her husband’s back on his way to her mother-in-law’s room. She just came back from her daughter’s room that was still locked from the entire family.
She had been worrying for their daughter and the entire family, yet her husband was only worried for that old woman whose life was shorter than theirs.
As a man, son, husband and father, he had failed in all aspects. A man was supposed to act strong and capable as head of the family at times like this. Instead of trying to retain as much power as he could in the business of the Easmond family, he was looking after his mother hoping she could carry out his duties.
If it wasn’t for her family’s arrangement, she wouldn’t have bothered to marry an illegitimate son like him.

’’You know Thomas, it’s quite amusing.’’ In the office of his home, Matt just finished listening to some rumors from the butler of his family with his long legs crossed casually on the desk.
’’Have they reacted yet?’’ The ’they’ in his question were the rest of the Easmond family.
The old madam and her family.
’’Not yet, young master.’’ Thomas, the butler of the Easmond family, replied respectfully. ’’I received word that Young miss has not stepped out of her bed room. The second master has been caring for the old madam, and the second madam has been reaching for help from her acquaintances and family.’’
’’Indeed, second aunt is a good daughter-in-law.’’ Matt casually bobbed his head with lazy grin. Old madam had always tightened her grip on her son, so it wasn’t strange that his uncle had not bothered to step up in this situation.
A full-grown man on the outside, a boy in need of his mother’s milk on the inside. This was how Matt’s description of his uncle at heart.
In other words, a spineless man.
’’Keep an eye....’’ Matt was saying until the office’s door opened, and an older version of him stepped inside with narrowed eyes fixated on him.
’’Son.’’
’’Father.’’ Matt dropped his legs from the table and stood up to acknowledge his father’s presence.
’’What brings you here?’’ He asked with a faint smile, despite the knowing the answer at heart.
Thomas tactfully stepped out of the office, leaving the father and son in short-staring contest.
’’What have you done?’’ His father broke the tensed silence between them.
’’I’m quite sad, father. You suddenly blamed me....’’
’’Matt Easmond.’’
’’...’’ Matt knew that he couldn’t talk his way out of this one. In the presence of his father, he had to be the real Matt Easmond and not his public persona.
’’I took back what was ours, father.’’ His eyes were void of usual mischievousness. Right now, he was facing his father with his true self.
’’You....What did I say, Matt?’’ 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞
’’That what?’’ Matt let out a mocking laugh at his father. ’’That we should continue hiding away and watch as Freya had taken away what belonged to me and the Old madam control what has been originally yours, father?!’’
’’.....’’
’’You of all understand that the grandmother and granddaughter have built their successes by trampling on our family.’’ He hissed angrily.
’’...’’
’’I am not like you, father.’’ Matt scoffed. ’’I listened to you back then and allowed Freya to continue stealing my books, but not now. You and mother have suffered to protect me from the Old madam and her family. I am a grown up now and I will personally pay you back everything that woman and her family owes us.’’
He had waited patiently until they soared to the skies and flourished higher than they could ever imagine, built on his cousin’s lies. On a special day of hers and when she least expected with her guard completely down against him, he aggressively pulled her and her family right back to the mud where they rightfully belonged permanently.
