Chapter 46: Chapter 46: Who is Better, Him or Me?

A chill spread across her front, and her heart grew cold along with it.

Natalie Morgan frowned and gave a cold laugh.

It wasn’t that she didn’t dare to speak.

She just no longer cared to.

She had no interest in parading her innocence before him, begging him not to misunderstand her.

"Theodore Grant, why must we be entangled like this? Don’t you find it agonizing and pointless? Really, let’s get a divorce."

Theodore Grant froze for a moment.

He thought she wouldn’t bring up divorce again.

’Is it because of Felix Finch?’

’Or some other man?’

"What, tired of being Mrs. Grant? Eager to become Mrs. Finch? Or are you aiming to be Mrs. Wallace and Mrs. Lawson, too?"

Every word dripped with mockery.

It was as if he’d just heard the world’s biggest joke.

The curve of his lips oozed derision and contempt.

Natalie Morgan lowered her gaze, pulling her clothes over herself. She looked calmly at the man before her. "Even if I owe Wanda Lynch an enormous debt, I’ve nearly paid it off. Let me go. Let my family go. I’ll be grateful, okay?"

"Isn’t this fate what you deserve?"

He stared at her, the contempt in his eyes like a knife stabbing straight into her.

’It doesn’t matter. I can’t feel the pain anymore.’

As long as she could leave, she wouldn’t complain even if she only had one breath left.

"Yes, I deserve it. But does my family deserve it too? If I had known back then that marrying you would lead to this, I definitely wouldn’t have chosen love."

"It seems Mrs. Grant has fallen in love with someone else."

She had no energy to explain. Resigned, she said, "Fine, just assume I’ve fallen in love with someone else."

"Say that again?" His dark eyes narrowed abruptly as he raised a hand and seized her by the neck. "I dare you to say that again."

Her face grew taut as she struggled to breathe.

Her beautiful, resentful eyes stared unblinkingly at the man’s.

"Theodore Grant, have you forgotten how you framed my father? Have you forgotten how you had Thomas Morgan committed? Have you forgotten how you’ve treated me these past two years of our marriage?"

The rims of her eyes were scarlet.

Tears streamed from the corners of her eyes.

She had never hated someone so much.

This was the first time she had ever confronted him like this.

A do-or-die desperation filled her gaze with an unprecedented, burn-the-bridges resolve.

’The worst he can do is kill me. If I’m not afraid of death, what else is there to fear?’

At her words, the man’s hand suddenly loosened. A flicker of complex surprise crossed his narrow eyes.

"I already told you why Thomas Morgan was committed, didn’t I? As for your father, he was reported because his own hands weren’t clean."

He explained it away casually.

As if it were all justified and had nothing to do with him personally.

Disappointment shone through Natalie Morgan’s tear-filled eyes.

’I knew he’d never admit it.’

She would find out for herself whether Thomas Morgan had really raped Wanda Lynch.

She would also investigate why her father was arrested and how he died in prison.

Theodore Grant hated it when Natalie Morgan talked back to him, treating him like an enemy. He gripped her chin again. "You want to settle scores with me? You’re not qualified. You’d better just stay home and be a good Mrs. Grant. Otherwise..." 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎

Otherwise, her family would not be safe.

She understood his threat.

Natalie Morgan stared at him with hatred, her soft pink lips bitten so hard that her trembling teeth nearly broke the skin.

He squeezed her face, forcing her to release her lip, and then crushed his mouth against hers.

His tongue pried open her teeth, forcing her into a tangled kiss.

"Be good. Listen to me, hm?" His tone softened.

Natalie Morgan wasn’t falling for it. She pounded her fists against him, resisting.

But she was too weak. To him, it felt more like foreplay.

The man grew aroused, a tempestuous wave of desire surging through him. Their breaths mingled as he bit her earlobe, demanding, "Who’s better? Me or Felix Finch?"

Natalie Morgan couldn’t answer.

Faced with such a perverse question, she clenched her jaw. ’Let him figure it out himself.’

She didn’t answer.

He grew more frantic. Holding her waist, he pressed his searing hot skin against hers. "Say it. Who’s better? Who satisfies you more? Say it!"

She wouldn’t say.

So he tormented her in every way he could think of.

When it was finally over, he still hadn’t gotten anything out of her.

He panted, nibbling the soft flesh behind her ear. "I hear the treatment for your mother’s project is going quite well. She’s regained consciousness and is about to wake up, right?"

Natalie Morgan’s heart seized.

She was terrified that Theodore Grant would interfere.

"I’m begging you."

"Begging me for what?" His large hand gently caressed her slender waist. "Hm?"

"I’m begging you, don’t go after someone who’s already in a coma. My mom raised Wanda Lynch, after all. She’s done nothing wrong."

He let out a cold laugh and brought his lips to her ear playfully. "Then tell me, who satisfies you more? Me or Felix Finch?"

He was so insistent on getting an answer.

It was nothing more than his male pride acting up.

Pushed to the brink, she had no choice but to go against her heart and reply, "You."

"So you did sleep with him, didn’t you!" He erupted in fury, shoving her away violently. His expression was savage. "Natalie Morgan, you’ve got some nerve, cuckolding me! You’re going to pay for this."

Natalie Morgan’s eyes trembled.

’Isn’t this the answer he wanted to hear?’

"Natalie Morgan, you’re really something else."

He jabbed his finger at her twice, then left the bedroom, slamming the door shut behind him.

The slam made Natalie Morgan’s heart ache.

Natalie Morgan was bewildered. ’Isn’t that what he wanted to hear?’

’Why did he go crazy again?’

Soon, the roar of an engine signaled a car speeding away from the Grant Residence.

Natalie Morgan slowly curled into a ball, hugging her knees and sobbing quietly.

For two straight days, there was no word from Theodore Grant. Natalie Morgan was on edge.

She called the hospital almost every day to ask about the progress of her mother’s treatment.

They kept telling her everything was going smoothly.

She had called Felix Finch, who was following the project closely, and he hadn’t mentioned anything unusual either.

Natalie Morgan’s heart began to relax.

’Theodore’s anger must have cooled down by now,’ she thought. ’I’ll go apologize, force myself to placate him a bit, and maybe if he’s in a better mood, he’ll drop the whole thing.’

After all, she truly couldn’t bear his retaliation.

「Three mornings later.」

She got up early, deliberately changing into an outfit Theodore Grant liked and putting on exquisite makeup, preparing to go to the Grant Group.

In her hands, she held a box of pastries she had made herself.

From mixing the ingredients to baking the final product, it had taken her nearly two hours. They smelled wonderful.

Before leaving, she took a look in the mirror. Her complexion was excellent.

She was like a hibiscus flower, dazzlingly beautiful.

Just as she got into a taxi, she received a call from Crestview Hospital. "Hello?"

"Miss Morgan, you need to come to the hospital. There’s been a sudden problem with the project. Your mother, she..."

A sharp pain pierced Natalie Morgan’s heart.

A terrible premonition washed over her. "What happened to my mom?"
