Chapter 86: Mating Season 2

Audrey slowed down her steps as she neared the hall, slowly trailing behind her friends.

"Are you sure you want to wait for us inside the hall?" Sandra asked as she slowed her pace to wait for Audrey to catch up to her.

"Yes, it’s okay, I’ll just blend with the crowd," Audrey replied and held Sanra’s hand, together, they walked into the large hall.

"I’ll be right here," Audrey let go of Sandra’s hand as she stepped aside, blending with the people standing by the side of the door.

"Then, I’ll be right here too," Sandra said and weaved her way to Audrey.

She too, was trying to minimize her proximity with Lawrence who seemed to be finding it difficult to take his eyes off her. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂

Audrey smiled when her friend came to stand beside her, she knew she couldn’t ask her to go be with the others because once Sandra’s decided on something, you can’t change her mind so easily.

"Here he comes," Sandra pointed to the stage as Alpha Lake elegantly walked towards it, his powerful aura causing the noisy hall to quieten down immediately.

Audrey followed Sandra’s hand and looked up to the stage just at the same time Alpha Lake looked in her direction.

Audrey felt a prickling pain in her heart as she saw Alpha Lake remove his eyes from her the moment he saw her, she felt almost invisible to his affection.

She sighed and remained standing in her position, already debating within herself if she made the right choice by coming to the hall with her friends.

She didn’t expect to feel so empty by just staring at him, and he looked so handsome today of all days, it made him all the more irresistible to her.

"You alright?’ Sandra asked.

Audrey nodded, "Yes."

Sandra smiled softly, gently patting her arm.

"Greetings! Werewolves!" Alpha Lake’s powerful voice rang throughout the hall.

"Greetings, Alpha!" The wolves replied with a roar.

Everyone was super excited that day, as it was the long-awaited full moon. Many had traveled from far and wide just to witness the sacred ceremony that would be held in the Grey Blood Pack, and with hopes that they’d also find their other half by midnight.

So, their excitement was immeasurable, they all hoped this full moon to be their last search for a mate.

"Today, as we all know, is the full moon by midnight," Alpha Lake spoke seriously.

Audrey couldn’t bring herself to look away from Alpha Lake as he addressed the crowd.

She felt Avery fighting her resistance, clawing her way to the surface as she stared at Alpha Lake.

"Umm, I think I’ll step outside for a while," Audrey said to Sandra and quickly went outside.

"Hey! Wait for me," Sandra called after Audrey.

Alex turned back and saw his friends leaving the hall and immediately followed them.

"Where do you think you’re going?" Andrew suddenly appeared in front of Alex, blocking his path.

Alex was shocked to see Andrew in front of him, memories of how Andrew had acted with him yesterday played through his mind and he wasn’t sure how he felt about that, but he was very sure that he was no longer angry at Andrew.

Instead, he was trying to figure out why his heart was beating faster than usual today since he set his eyes on Andrew.

"Um, I’m going to check on my friends," Alex said, trying to sidestep Andrew by the door.

"Or, you can’t stand being apart from her?" Andrew asked with a raised brow.

Alex furrowed his brow in confusion," Her? Who are you... Oh!" Alex rolled his eyes when he suddenly remembered what Andrew was talking about.

"Please, get out of my way!" Alex pushed Andrew aside and quickly escaped.

Andrew stood in front of the door, staring at Alex in a confused state, he was starting to understand this thing he was suddenly feeling for Alex, but he wanted to wait and confirm it by midnight, and, if he was right, he was going to punish that little cub so badly till he could barely walk.

Outside, Alex met Audrey and Sandra who were standing beside the building, he saw the uncomfortable look on Audrey’s face and he immediately got worried.

"Hey, Sandra, what’s wrong with Audrey?" He asked as he went over to Audrey and held her hands on his.

He was really worried, he’d never seen Audrey look that uncomfortable before, something serious must be going on for her to look this way.

"She’s fighting her wolf for dominance," Sandra said.

"Damn! Because of him right?" He asked Audrey but got no reply.

Audrey had her eyes shut, it felt like Avery was just waiting for the moment when she would open her eyes so it would shine through her eyes, letting the whole Pack know that there was an Alpha female in the hood, especially her mate. But that’s not what Audrey wanted.

"Selena, tell Avery to quit it immediately," Audrey commanded.

’I’m sorry, Catherine, even I can’t help you today,’ Selena replied.

"Of, fuck this!" Audrey angrily kicked the air in front of her.

"Hey, hey, calm down..." Alex stood in front of Audrey and gently placed his hands on her shoulder.

"It’s alright, Audrey, we can leave now, I’ll inform the others," Sandra quickly ran inside to inform the others about Audrey’s condition.

"Come on, let’s get away from here, I think his voice is the catalyst for your reaction," Alex led Audrey by the hand and walked away from the building.

And truly, once they were a good distance away from the hall and the Alpha’s voice wasn’t that audible anymore, Audrey felt a little relaxed, she slowly opened her eyes and sighed.

"Thanks, Alex," Audrey said in between sighs.

She could still feel Avery clawing inside her head, but it was more controllable than before. Hearing his voice as he spoke from the hall was indeed the catalyst, it made her wolf so restless and desperate and this worried her.

If Avery was reacting this way to his voice by this time of the day, then, what’s going to happen by midnight?

"You’re welcome," Alex smiled.

"Wait up! We’re here!" Maria called from behind as they walked in a hastened pace to meet up with Audrey and Alex.

Audrey looked back to find Lawrence and Maya trailing behind Sandra and Maria.

Audrey let the corner of her mouth tilt up in a small smile as she looked at the loyal friends she’d made in the eight months she’d spent in the Grey Blood Pack.

"Let’s go," Audrey said to her friends and turned to lead them into the forest to her secret garden as she had promised.

"Are we there yet?" Maria asked, looking around the forest.

She was familiar with the route Audrey was taking, she could still remember it was the same route she took the first time she came to look for Audrey and was unfortunately caught by the Pack guards.

"Shh! Everyone halt," Audrey signaled her friends to stop with her hand.

They all paused in their tracks, quietly looking around for any sign of threat, but they found nothing.

"Stacy?" Audrey called out into the forest.

Everyone was staring at her with confusion as they hadn’t sensed any other presence apart from theirs.

"Stacy, come out now, I know you can hear me," Audrey said and started walking forward, her friends following her behind.

"Shit! Let’s move faster, she’s injured," Audrey said and started sprinting forward.

They all followed her without questioning, and as they got nearer, they all scented another’s presence, but the scent was mixed with blood, just like Audrey had said.

Audrey quickly went around a huge tree and saw Stacy, lying bloodied on the floor and barely breathing.

"I’ll do it," Lawrence gently held back Audrey’s shoulder as she was about to lift Stacy off the floor.

"Okay, come on, this way," Audrey quickly headed towards the tall vined trees.

Sandra felt strangely jealous as she saw Lawrence eagerly offer to help Stacy, he’s never even offered to do anything for her, well, unless you’re counting when he offered to break the mate bond with her.

She didn’t like that he still had this strong effect on her, but she quickly removed her eyes from them and focused on their destination.

Audrey noticed that the vines around the trees seemed to have gotten thicker and the trees also seemed like they grew taller, really taller than before.

As they approached the trees, Sandra noticed that Audrey was slowing down in front of the two weird trees, she curiously went around the trees and back to her friends with a slight frown. Nothing was behind those trees, just the normal forest she’d known since childhood.

She knew this forest like the back of her hand, and she was very sure that behind those vined trees was just a continuation of the forest and nothing like a secret garden as Audrey had mentioned. She didn’t know how to tell her friend that maybe, she had gotten the wrong location this time.

"Um, Audrey, I think this is a dead end whoa!" Sandra exclaimed in shock as she watched the thick vines between the trees orderly unwrap themselves from the trees to reveal a gigantic white gate with an image engraved on it.

"No way," Maya said in disbelief, her eyes widened.

"Interesting," Maria beamed.

Alex and Lawrence just kept staring at the gate that materialized out of nowhere and wondered if they were now imagining things.

"Let’s go," Audrey said to her shocked friends and stepped towards the gate, awing them more as the gate opened with her proximity.
