Hated By The Alpha-Chapter 72: Face-slapping
"Hyah!" Adeline was the first to attack, sending a flying kick to Audrey’s head with her right foot.
Audrey was on the defensive side as she stepped back, widened her stance, and brought her arm up to the level of her face, using it to block Adeline’s kick.
"That was flimsy, Adel," Audrey bounced back and readied herself for another attack.
She was giving Adeline a chance to show off her skills and also using the time to study her moves.
"Humph!" Adeline scoffed as she slowly walked around Audrey.
"I’m a wolf, I was just playing with my food before I finally killed it," Adeline used her leg to flip up the spear that was beside her feet.
"Now, I’m giving you a chance to a fair fight," Adeline flipped the spear in a circular motion with her fingers.
"Try to see if you can beat me before I change to my wolf and kill- Argh!" Adeline instinctively raised a hand to her cheek.
Adeline’s face turned red, she couldn’t believe Audrey could slap her in this situation, she knew it was a battle between them, but the timing of the slap was quite humiliating for her, and the chuckles and laughter she heard from the crowd made her feel even worse.
"Hehe! You talk too much, come on! Come at me princess," Audrey daunted with a smirk.
She saw Adeline’s eyes change to a bright lemon indicating the presence of her wolf.
She scoffed, even her wolf looked funny.
She knew she’d riled Adeline up as her wolf surfaced, maybe now she could put up a real fight for her
"Ahh!" Adeline leaped high up with her spear, aiming directly for Audrey’s heart.
Audrey was prepared for that as she had already read it in her body language, she quickly did a side flip and dodged her, but Adeline was relentless, she kept attacking Audrey with the spear and they were now engaged spear fight.
Audrey was trying hard not to just drive the sharp edge of her spear into Adeline’s heart as she kept moving away and defending herself as best as she could.
"Stop trying to escape! Fucking fight back, bitch!" Adeline aimed her spear right at Audrey’s leg, but Audrey quickly jumped and evaded the strike.
"Okay," Audrey replied as she landed on the ground.
"Argh! Bitch!" Adeline screamed painfully as Audrey jabbed the sharp edge of her spear directly into Adeline’s right foot.
"Argh!" Adeline winced from pain.
Audrey moved back as Adeline tried to stab her abdomen with her spear.
"Is this how you fight?!" Audrey raised her voice so Adeline could hear as the crowd kept cheering and hitting their spears on the ground, sending dust flying up into the air.
"I’ll fucking kill you!" Adeline said, and immediately, fangs and claws appeared on her teeth and hand.
"Say your last prayers, bitch!" Adeline more like growled as she was now in the phase of changing to her wolf.
Within a second an average brown wolf was growling furiously in front of Audrey, snarling and baring its teeth as it circled Audrey.
"Drop the spear!"
"Drop the spear!"
"Drop the spear!"
Audrey heard the crowd chant, she knew it was the rule; once the opponent had changed to their wolf, then the human had to fight with no weapons, to show true brevity.
The moment she dropped the spear, she heard a loud growl from behind her.
*Growl!!!*
Adeline growled and leaped high up in the air, she successfully sank her teeth into Audrey’s arm, biting down as hard as she could.
"Ugh!" Audrey grunted from pain and used her free hand to tear away Adeline’s wolf from her arm, causing the wolf’s teeth to drag across her skin and leave more injuries.
Blood flowed like wine down Audrey’s arms.
The crowd went crazy at the sight.
But, only her friends knew that Audrey had just got more problems to deal with now. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂
They knew she had to try and keep her wound open and also keep her powers to the best minimum as it could easily be sniffed if she so used it much.
It was a draining process for Audrey, trying to keep a wound open with the powers she wasn’t allowed to use freely, and if she decided not to use the powers then her wound would be quickly closed up by her wolf. It was exhausting for her.
"Just great," She muttered.
"You shouldn’t have," She said to the snarling wolf.
*Grr!!!*
Adeline’s wolf leaped again and pushed Audrey down to the ground by her shoulders, and was speedily aiming for Audrey’s throat but Audrey saw it coming and landed a hard punch to the wolf’s jaw.
A bone-cracking sound was heard all over the field and the wolf fell a few feet away from Audrey, whimpering for a second.
The crowd gasped in disbelief at Audrey’s strength.
They wondered how a human could land such a fetal punch to a wolf, to the extent of breaking its bone.
Audrey quickly stood up and looked at her hand, channeling her energy to it and making sure it stayed open.
For that second she had her attention locked in her arm, Adeline’s wolf recovered and immediately jumped at Audrey again, this time, it aimed for the back of her neck as Audrey was standing with her back to her.
Audrey sensed the wolf before it could even reach her, and as much as she would have loved to stay and play with Adeline, she couldn’t.
Maybe she might have stayed longer if she hadn’t gotten wounded, but now, she had to leave the prying eyes of these wolves and find Maria immediately.
She swiftly turned back, caught Adeline’s wolf with her two hands, and in the blink of an eye, she twisted the wolf’s fore right limb and her left hind limb.
Crack!
The sound of bones breaking was heard again all over the field, but this time, it was louder and it was followed by a pained howl from a hurting wolf.
Audrey unceremoniously dropped Adeline’s wolf to the ground, gaining a painful whimper from it.
She waited for it to recover but the wolf just remained lying on the floor, whimpering continuously.
The crowd saw that Adeline’s wolf had tilted its neck to the side in surrender and immediately started chanting Audrey’s name.
"Catherine!"
"Catherine!"
"Catherine!"
Audrey simply stepped over Adeline’s wolf and walked out of the square, heading straight to the Pack Hospital, where she knew she’d find Maria.
"Quick, take her to the Pack clinic," Alpha Lake ordered two guards at the field to carry Adeline’s wolf away as he quickly turned and headed straight in Audrey’s direction.
"Try not to change, Adeline. The treatment would be more painful as a human," One girl who followed the guards behind said to Adeline’s wolf as they carefully carried her and followed Alpha Lake behind.
"Yeah, let the doctor fix your bone in place first, then you can change back," One of the guards replied.
The wolf just kept whimpering and whimpering, it was in so much pain, that Adeline didn’t even think she could be able to change until she was completely healed. Not being able to change was a risk as letting your wolf dominate for a long period could lead you to go rogue.
She didn’t want to turn rogue.
It was all because of Audrey, her hatred for her at that moment was immeasurable. But one thing is for sure, if she ever got healed, she would never try fighting Audrey herself as she had now witnessed firsthand how incredibly strong Audrey was.
She couldn’t still believe she’d been publicly beaten by a human.
What a disgrace!
She knew people were going to start looking at her differently from then on.
"Hello, Audrey, oh my goddess! What happened to your hand?!" Caleb exclaimed as Audrey walked into his office.
"Where’s she?" Audrey asked pointedly, staring Caleb directly in the eyes.
"Ah, she..." Caleb scratched the back of his head.
In as much as he wanted to help Audrey, he also wanted to protect his mate.
Maria had told him that she was hiding from Audrey for today, so he couldn’t bring himself to tell her where Maria was hiding.
"Come out now, Maria," Audrey said seriously, staring at the door adjoining the office to another room.
In a second, the door opened and Maria slowly walked out, looking at the ground like it was the most interesting thing in the world.
"Come over here and heal me," Audrey said impatiently.
"What?!" Maria asked unbelievably.
"Why don’t you heal yourself?" Maria raised her brow in surprise.
She didn’t even understand why Audrey’s wound was still bleeding in the first place, it was supposed to be closed and shiny by now.
Caleb stared from Audrey to Maria in confusion.
He didn’t understand what Maria meant by asking Audrey to heal herself.
’Was she a witch too?’ He silently thought as he stared at the two strange girls in his office.
He had thought Audrey was a wolf, perhaps he was wrong, Audrey hadn’t told him her true story yet, so he could only be making assumptions.
"Oh, for fudge’s sake, heal me!" Audrey said irritably.
"Woah, okay, fine, fine, calm down," Maria quickly went over to Audrey and held her bleeding arm.
She murmured a few strange words and hovered her hand over the wound.
In a second, Audrey’s hand was as good as new, blood gone and no scar.
"That wasn’t so hard, was it?" Audrey snatched her hand from Maria.
She thanked God she found her here, she had started to find it hard to keep the wound open. And if Maria wasted any second more, she would have lost control and Avery would have surfaced to heal her.
That would have been the end of her journey because she knew that Alpha Lake was almost in front of the Hospital. He would sense her immediately after Avery surfaced.
"So, why didn’t you want to heal your-"
"Shh!!!" Audrey shushed Maria by placing her palm over her mouth.
And in the next second, Alpha Lake barged into the office.
