Audrey pretended to squint her eyes like she was still getting used to the dark room. But she saw it clearly, it looked like an abandoned farmhouse, that explained the rocks she felt beneath her butt.

He walked slowly to a chair that wasn’t far from where Audrey was sitting on the floor.

Audrey easily heard the voice through the phone, she recognized it without stress. It was the man from the gym who had put a plastic bag over her head.

’So his name was Regee,’ She smiled secretly.

He had no memory of what Ginger was talking about but he let it slide, it wasn’t important, his goal was to satisfy himself with the little human in front of him.

"Alpha, they have something to say," Andrew said from the door.

He had Regee kneeling in front of him, Ginger was kneeling behind them, with Alpha Sebastian pointing a gun to his head.

"Alpha, thank the goddess we found her, I was so worried," Adeline rushed into the building as she heard Andrew say that one of the men had something to say.

She wasn’t going to let him expose her.

Adeline secretly balled her fists in anger as she saw how tenderly Alpha Lake was cuddling Audrey to himself.

"Oh, poor Catherine, you must’ve been so scared, it’s okay, we’re here now," Adeline squat beside Alpha Lake and reached out her hand to touch Audrey, but she was surprised when Alpha Lake didn’t let her touch Audrey.

Audrey smiled at Adeline from behind Alpha Lake’s shoulder. She knew Adeline couldn’t break her act in front of the Alpha.

"Come, Kitten," Alpha Lake gathered Audrey into his arms and carried her like a baby and walked toward the door.

Audrey felt those tingles everywhere his hands touched. In as much as she knew she’d been acting the victim all these while, she still felt butterflies in her stomach when she saw him kick down the door to rescue her.

She snuggly placed her head against his chest as he carried her to the door.

"Speak!" Alpha Lake said to the trembling Regee.

"Alpha, what are we waiting for? Let’s lock these wicked men up immediately! They dare do this to Catherine?! How ruthless!" Adeline rushed over and interrupted Regee’s confession.

She knew she would be doomed if she let him say what he had wanted to say.

She had been so enraged when Alpha Lake had announced that he had received a text with Audrey’s location, she kept wondering who must have sent it to him, now she knew who the culprit was. She swore to give him hell when he finally got locked up.

"Let him speak, Adeline," Alpha Lake ordered.

"It was her," Regee looked at Adeline accusingly.

"What?! Outrageous accusation!" Adeline feigned shock and anger over the ’accussation.’

Adeline looked from Andrew to Alpha Sebastian, wishing they could support her, but they just stared at her with an unreadable expression. She felt cornered.

"Alpha, you can’t believe him, you know I’ve been beside you the whole time, how did I get the chance to meet with this liar?!"

Alpha Lake weighed what he had just heard. He didn’t know Adeline to be that kind of person, maybe the man was lying just like Adeline had said.

"Are you the one texted me?" alpha Lake asked.

"Yes, Alpha," Regee replied hypnotically.

Ginger looked at Regee with surprise and betrayal.

’So thst was what he went to do when he went over to the table?’ Ginger balled his fists in anger.

He’s been betrayed by his best friend.

But why?

He noticed that his friend didn’t seem to be himself, just like he was when he had gone over to the table and sent that text. He seemed like he was under someones control.

Ginger quickly snapped his head towards Audrey, and just like he expected, Audrey was stsring right at him with the strangest look he’s ever seen on a human.

He knew at that monster that Audrey wasn’t just an ordinary human as they were made to believe.
