Chapter 116: Witches call

Alpha Lake observed Audrey as they went down to the dungeon. He didn’t quite understand her countenance that morning.

From the moment she saw him, she’d been acting weird, as if there was something she didn’t want to tell him; he had thought she was feeling shy from what they did to each other yesterday, but he came to understand that it wasn’t the case.

He became worried when he saw that she was even trying her best to limit their eye and body contact.

"Kitten?" Alpha Lake suddenly calls and draws Audrey into his arms as they reach the dungeon gate.

"You’re doing it again," He whispered and gently placed his palm beside her face to return her eyes to his as he saw her trying to look away from him again.

"Did I do something wrong?" Alpha Lake asked sincerely.

Audrey sighed and bit her lips, slowly shaking her head at him. She couldn’t tell him for his safety; she could live with him hating her for a while, but she couldn’t live if he died.

"Are you sure? You’ve been acting strange from the time I showed up at the kitchen," Alpha Lake pointed out.

"You did nothing. Maybe I’m just tired," She smiled.

"I’m sorry, did I go too far last night?" He asked teasingly, kissing her cheek.

"Don’t talk about it. I’m shy," Audrey playfully hit his chest and turned to open the gates but suddenly gasped when she felt a spank behind her ass.

"You’re naughty, Kitten," Alpha Lake whispered into her ear, holding onto the gate to stop her from opening it.

"Come on, quit messing around, we have things to do," Audrey giggled softly.

"Sure, Mama, but I’m not letting you go when we get back," He kissed her softly on the lips before pushing open the dungeon gate.

Audrey was smiling, but within her, she wasn’t entirely happy. When she remembered all Selena had explained to her, she felt so angry and helpless.

Wasn’t there any other way?

"Come on, Kitten," Alpha Lake held her arm when he noticed she wasn’t moving to go into the dungeon.

"Oh, sorry," Audrey quickly forced her mind back to the presence and followed him in.

As she walked down the dungeon, she thought about how ironic everything was, a year and a half ago; if you asked the girl who was locked up in the same dungeon if she wanted Alpha Lake to die, the girl would say yes without hesitation; but, now, that same girl never wanted to let anything happen to that same Alpha.

Time has passed, and people have changed, she wouldn’t be stuck in the past forever.

"Luna!!" Audrey was drawn out of her thoughts by Bill and Will’s loud greetings.

She looked up to find Alpha Lake staring confused at them; he was wondering why they looked so scared to see Audrey, meanwhile completely overlooking him.

"Where’s Russell," Audrey asked.

"Open this gate, Will," Alpha Lake ordered, pointing at the gate beside Audrey.

They were standing at the first gate in the dungeon; Audrey had never seen that gate open, and she was wondering why they chose to put Mr. Russell in there.

But once the gate was opened, she understood why they chose to keep him there.

She saw Mr. Russell lying spread on the metal table with just his boxers as the only clothing he had on.

A harsh light was placed directly over his face; a metal clamp was placed around his neck, pinning him down to the table, and chains were cuffed around his wrists and ankles, stretching his limbs painfully.

The moment the iron gate opened, Mr. Russell was startled. He tried to look at the door and see who had entered, but the clamp around his neck pressed harder, limiting his movements.

"Ugh!" He groaned in pain and kept his eyes closed because of the light above his face.

For a second, Audrey felt pity for him, but this was what he brought upon himself, and when she remembered what he did to his poor mate whom he had locked up below his company, she lost all sympathy for him.

"Hello, Russell," Alpha Lake said, stopping beside the metal table.

Audrey slowly came and stood beside him, staring intently at Mr. Russell and trying g to think of why someone would just choose to be so evil and sadistic.

"Lake," Russel spoke with a rough voice, coughing after that.

"Look what you did to yourself, boss," Audrey said quietly.

Hearing Audrey’s voice, Mr. Russell’s face changed to that of betrayal and pain.

"Catherine! You betrayed me!" He struggled to look at them but couldn’t because of all the restrictions holding him back.

"Let me go, Lake! I will surely defeat you!" Russell barked.

Alpha Lake sighed and pressed a button beside the metal table.

"Argh!!! Fuck!!! Catherine, make him stop!!! Argh!!" Mr. Russell kept screaming painfully.

Audrey didn’t know why he was screaming at first, but when she heard the smooth sound of metal stretching, she understood what was happening.

Mr. Russell kept screaming, he felt like his limbs were going to be torn out of his body at any moment.

"This is just a reminder of your current state, in case you have suddenly forgotten, Russell," Alpha Lake said casually.

Audrey placed a hand on Alpha Lake’s arm, shaking her head slowly at him.

Alpha Lake sighed and pressed the button again, pausing Mr. Russell’s torture.

Mr. Russell was panting and sweating profusely. The stretching had stopped, but his body remained stretched as the chains didn’t move back to their initial state. His body was vibrating from the uncomfortable condition, and he couldn’t do anything about it.

"You will surely go in for this! I’m a public figure, when the government finds out what happened to me, they’ll surely come for you!" Russell threatened.

"Oh, boss, not before they find out what you’ve done to Rein. Oh, my bad, I think they already did," Audrey said, chuckling.

Mr. Russell froze; how did they find out about Rein? He was sure no one ever found out about his secrets.

"You should be grateful that we’re keeping you here, as of today, you’re wanted by the government for human rights violation and abduction," Alpha Lake informed.

Russel winced, squeezing his face in pain as his body felt overstretched.

"Fuck you," Russell said tiredly.

Audrey sighed, "There’s really no redemption for you, right?" She didn’t know why she just felt sad seeing him that way.

Alpha Lake removed the light from Mr. Russell’s face, leaning his face over to look at his sweaty face.

"You failed, Russell, as you should. I have always known you were the one who ambushed my warehouse. I just let you fool yourself all this while. And Rein?" Alpha Lake chuckled.

"It was my plan with him to let you capture him, and those little wolf vaccines?" Alpha Lake asked, "They were just some sedatives for your hyperactive body. Haven’t you ever wondered why you find yourself lying on the floor each time you wake up? Rein is really smart, and that is why you can never outsmart a wolf," Alpha Lake walked around his table in slow predator strides.

Audrey moved a little away from the table, sensing a change in Alpha Lake’s mood.

Alpha Lake walked up to the wall and brought down a red switch and instantly, Mr. Russell started screaming like crazy, his body vibrating vigorously in pain.

Audrey’s eyes widened as she realized what was going on.

The sizzling sound of burning skin filled the room, and the heavy smell of burnt skin spread everywhere in the room. She stared at Mr. Russell as he tried to raise his back off the hot metal table but all his efforts were in vain.

She watched as Alpha Lake went over to Russell and whispered darkly.

"And, this, is for laying your filthy hands on my mate," Alpha Lake patted Mr. Russell’s cheeks and indifferently walked over to Audrey.

"No! please! I’m sorry! Forgive me! Argh!!!" Mr. Russel scremed.

"Hmm, that doesn’t sound sincere enough; I’ll come by later; you better work on your sincerity, Russell," Alpha Lake casually wrapped his arms around Audrey and led her out of the dungeon.

Audrey was once again reminded of just how cruel her mate can be. But, this time, she felt loved and protected by his actions.

She saw the revenge in his eyes as he told Mr. Russell the reason for his suffering.

She remained quiet until they came out behind the pack house.

Audrey silently followed him around the pack house, tightly wrapping her arms around his strong one.

"Hey," Alpha Lake halted beside the house, holding Audrey’s shoulders as he stared at her.

"Are you okay?" He asked concerned.

He knew Mr. Russell was her ex-boss, and they seemed to have had a friendly relationship. Maybe she was feeling sad from seeing him that way.

Audrey shook her head, "I’m fine," she replied.

"Then why do you look so down?" He questioned.

"Nothing, I just fell deeper in love with you," She said to him.

Alpha Lake was smiling from ear to ear, he lowered his face to hers and kissed her lips.

Audrey kissed him back, smiling as she did. She would do everything possible to keep the man kissing her alive.

"Ahem, I’m sorry, Alpha, Luna," Andrew suddenly cleared his throat beside them.

The couple slowly tore away from each other, facing Andrew.

"Yes, Beta?" Alpha Lake replied, staring daggers at Andrew.

Andrew shifted uncomfortably on his feet as he said, "Luna, the witches wish to speak with you," He informed Audrey.
