Hated By The Alpha-Chapter 101: Troubled
Audrey was deep in thought as she walked into the long passage to Ms. Bridet’s room. She didn’t realize that she was being followed the moment she walked down the stairs from Alpha Lake’s condo.
She reached Ms. Bridge’s door and absent-mindedly raised her hand to knock on the door, but before her hand could reach the door, another hand beat her to it and knocked on the door before she could.
Audrey was startled and quickly looked behind her just to find Sandra staring at her with a smirk.
"Figured you were in your sloth era so I decided to speed things a little bit up for you," Sandra winked at Audrey.
Audrey huffed in silent laughter, shaking her head at her friend.
"Are you okay?" Sandra asked seriously.
She knew her friend was worried, it was obvious from the way she looked.
Before Audrey could reply, the door behind them opened.
"Everything alright, children?" Ms. Bridget asked as she opened the door and saw Audrey and Sandra standing there.
They never visited without a reason.
Audrey turned and quietly walked into the room, Sandra following behind.
"What’s the matter, Audrey?" Ms. Bridget asked as she sat on her chair, leaving her bed for the girls.
Audrey sighed heavily, thinking of how she was going to ask her questions.
"I just want to know my father’s name," Audrey said quietly.
Sandra frowned, looking curiously at Ms. Bridget.
This was the first time she’s heard Audrey mention her father. She wondered the kind of incident that could have led to Audrey seeking the name of the father she never knew.
Ms. Bridget regarded Audrey with love and understanding, she knew a day would come when the child she had raised would seek out her real parents.
She wasn’t jealous or angry, she was proud of Audrey. Her life has been chaotic, growing up with trauma as she did, she had proved to be strong and made herself to become the predator, no longer prey.
But she was sad because she knew that when the time came for Audrey to seek information about her parents, she wouldn’t have the answers.
"I’m sorry, dear, but I never knew your parents," Ms. Bridget said apologetically.
"You didn’t?" Audrey asked.
She had thought the rumors said that her parents lived in the Grey Blood Pack; how come Ms. Bridget never knew them?
"Yes. You see, almost all my life, I’ve been the Pack’s cook and chief maid. I never had time to associate with people, and when I lost my mate, bless his soul..." Ms. Bridget paused and turned to the side, lovingly staring at a picture of a young man on her table.
"After I lost Ben, I became withdrawn from everyone and focused only on my job. But someone came along and brightened up my world again, do you know who?" Ms. Bridget asked.
Audrey shook her head.
"It’s you, Audrey," Ms. Bridget said with a motherly smile.
"Me?" Audrey used her thumb to point at her chest, looking at Sandra in disbelief.
Sandra just shrugged, shaking her head at Audrey.
"Yes, child, it’s you. I was so lonely after Ben’s death, and we never had a child together. But when Luna Aurora asked me to take care of you, it brought me a kind of fulfillment I never knew I could feel. From then on, I took you like the child I never had," Ms. Bridge’s voice was cracking as she quickly wiped her eyes, not wanting them to see her cry.
"Oh no, Mama, don’t cry," Audrey quickly stood and went over to Ms. Bridget, squatting beside her and placing a comforting hand on her thigh.
Sandra was beside her in the next second too, patting her shoulder.
"I’m so sorry; I didn’t know my question would make you sad," Audrey consoled.
"No, no, that’s not it, child, it’s just nostalgia. And I’m not angry because you want to know your real parents, to me, you’ll always be my daughter," Ms. Bridget smiled in between sobs.
"Aww," Sandra leaned her head against Ms. Bridge’s arm, smiling.
"And, you will always be my mother, Mama," Audrey lay her head on Ms. Bridet’s lap.
"Yes, yes, I know," Ms. Bridget patted the girls’ heads, smiling happily.
Audrey was just about to sit back on the bed when a knock sounded from the door.
She opened it and found Maria smiling up at her.
"What are you doing here?" Audrey asked, noticing the mischievous look on Maria’s face.
"I knew you’d be here so I came to check up on you," Maria said.
"It better not be you doing him a favor," Audrey rolled her eyes and left the door.
Maria came in and shut the door behind her.
"Hi, Ma’am," Maria said with a little respectful bow.
"Hello, Maria," Ms. Bridget replied.
Maria went and sat between Sandra and Audrey on the bed, forcefully adjusting herself and purposely hitting Sandra with her hips.
"Hey, witch! Watch it!" Sandra nudged Maria with her elbow.
"Ouch! That’s not fair!" Maria immediately turned to Sandra, ready to dive her but Audrey drew her back by her dress.
"Come on, allow me to teach her a lesson," Maria said in a mean voice.
"Go then," Audrey simply shrugged and fell backward onto the bed, putting her hands behind her head.
"Huh?" Maria asked in disbelief.
"You want to fight her right? Go ahead," Audrey replied indifferently.
Maria gaped at her, looking from Audrey to Sandra.
Sandra scoffed, "Coward."
"Yeah, whatever you say," Maria rolled her eyes and brought out something from her handbag.
"Instead of wasting my time with you, I have something more important than you," Maria fished out the pixie dust bag from her handbag.
"This," She held the small pixie dust bag with her thumb and pointy finger, dangling it in front of her for everyone to see.
Sandra scoffed loudly, "What’s that, Tinkerbell? Tired of being a witch and want to become a fairy now?"
"You’re just a big fat elephant," Maria said angrily. 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮
"At least I can trample on you, my little fairy," Sandra smiled.
Ms. Bridget chuckled at their usual bantering.
Audrey sat up from the bed to see what they were talking about. She stared at the bag with narrowed eyes, wondering what could be inside such a small bag.
"What’s in the bag?" Audrey asked.
"Why not open it and see?" Maria dropped the bag on Audrey’s lap.
Audrey frowned and picked up the very light bag. She put her thumb on the mouth of the bag and drew it open, tilting it over to her open hand.
"What-how did get this?!" Audrey sprang from the bed, staring down unbelievably at the amulet in her palm, she couldn’t believe she was holding the long-searched amulet in her hand.
"Do you know what you just gave me?!" Audrey asked excitedly.
"Yes," Maria replied.
"It’s the amulet," Sandra said in awe, her eyes shining with pure interest and joy.
"Is it true?" Ms. Bridget walked over and looked at the object in Audrey’s hand.
"Yes, Mama, I finally have it!" Audrey couldn’t contain her excitement as she hugged Ms. Bridget.
"He asked me to give it to you. He said he was planning to give it back to you on your eighteenth birthday when you must have found your wolf and recognized him as your mate. And, he apologized for all the wrong he’s done you," Maria said seriously.
"Who’s he?" Sandra asked.
"Dumb," Maria mumbled.
Audrey knew who Maria was talking about. For him, giving her this amulet meant he now knew what the amulet was for.
"And he’s begging you not to reject him..." Maria said.
"Reject him?" Sandra gasped.
Audrey closed her eyes and sighed. She closed her palm over the amulet and thought about everything and anything.
She got what she came for, it was time to return to the Secret Coven and prepare to go face her sister.
She had to end Elena first before she ended her like the last time.
She opened her eyes and stared at everyone in the room, determination in her eyes.
"I need to go," She said and quickly turned to leave the room.
"Audrey," Ms. Bridget called her before she could leave the room.
"Yes," Audrey turned to look at her.
"I’ve lived all my life without a mate; it’s not a good feeling; it can be...killing. Think well before you act," Ms. Bridget walked over to her gave her a soft kiss on the head, and helped her open the door.
"Good luck, child," She said with a warm smile.
Audrey stared at the old woman for a while, smiled back, and then walked out of the room.
"We have to follow her," Sandra said and stood from the door.
"I agree with you for once," Maria said and followed Sandra out, waving goodbye to Ms. Bridget as they left her room.
They paused as they reached the general living room, staring at the floor in fright.
"Audrey! What happened?!!" Maria was the first to come out of the shock and run towards Audrey, who was rolling on the floor in pain and seizure.
