Chapter 102: Chapter 102 Empire of Women, King of One

For 23 straight days, Magnus, Emily, and Sophia ran the water trade in Luka. His team was the last to return to the fallout shelter.

By then, it had been 48 days since the apocalypse began. Everyone already knew the truth about the meteorites, and the water deal was getting harder by the day. So the three squads decided to pull back.

During those days, the Ice Regiment had evolved again - raw numbers had shot up. They now had 1,174 members. Vehicles, food, supplies - all of it booming. Liana was still crunching the numbers.

When they returned, most of the new women had never been to the fallout shelter before. Liana threw a celebration that evening to welcome them.

Inside, women were crowded everywhere - some crying, some laughing, loud singing echoing through the bunker. They were happier than they’d ever been, high as if it were New Year’s.

In one of the sleeper trucks, after over twenty days apart, Sarah threw herself into Magnus’ arms, tears running down her face. Abigail and Emma sat nearby, eyes red too. They hadn’t gone out on missions this time - stayed at base learning to drive. Once they got the hang of that, they’d signed up on their own to train with the APC.

Magnus gently ran his fingers through Sarah’s hair. She suddenly raised her head, eyes red and voice sharp, "I heard! I heard you found Isla! And now she wants to be your wife, doesn’t she?!"

"Who told you that crap?" Magnus denied flatly. "Total nonsense. I barely saw her! She’s holed up in the RV the whole time. I’ve been sleeping on the sleeper truck every night. Go ask Isabel if you don’t believe me."

"It was Isabel who told me!" Sarah snapped.

"She’s full of it!" Magnus growled.

"You just wait! I’ll dig into this myself!" Sarah stood up, turned to the Doyle sisters and barked, "Abby, Emma, keep an eye on him. Don’t let him sneak off!" Then she stomped off the truck.

Magnus let out a sigh. He knew Sarah’s intention - just giving space for the Doyle sisters to talk with him.

After a quick chat with Abigail and Emma, Liana came to call them for dinner. All three climbed out together.

With over 1,100 people, cars stretched as far as the eye could see. The entire fallout shelter buzzed with life - every corner rang with laughter and chatter. Rows of vehicles even lined the hillside outside. It was the result of 23 solid days of grinding and bartering.

Dinner that night was something special. Liana brought out 50 grilled lambs, two full cows for soup, and dumped the entire stock of fruits and vegetables for the women to feast.

Charlotte climbed on top of a van, yelling out a speech to fire everyone up. Cheers burst out. Then Isla took the stage and sang a few songs. The camp was electric.

1,174 women. Rows upon rows of armored trucks. A sealed underground stronghold. Magnus stood off to the side, watching it all like a dream. It was hard to believe this was real - built from scratch by his own hand.

That wild party lasted till 11 PM.

Everyone had at least a sip or two of the white liquor. Some stumbled off to sleep, others played poker, gambling their way toward designer bags and cosmetic prizes.

In the luxe RV, Magnus now took over the living-room space. Isla still kept her private bedroom. The three female bodyguards had been reassigned to sleeper trucks, integrated into small squads. Emily, Liana, Sophia, Charlotte, and Magnus sat in the RV’s lounge, surrounded by over a dozen squad leaders who pulled in chairs to listen.

Meetings weren’t Magnus’s thing, but he knew it was the best way to keep everyone on the same page. No matter what, they had to keep talking. Always.

"I’ve got the numbers," Liana said, pulling out five notebooks. "Had the girls make copies. Take a look."

Magnus flipped his open. The whole trade idea had been his call, and now it was time to see the real results.

Ice Regiment headcount: 1174. Among them, 891 were Awakened. They had 466 capable drivers. And 24 could handle armored troop vehicles. Female members aged 18 to 35 totaled 922.

Compared to the last count - 694 members - they’d grown by 480.

Crystals? Total: 1276. Fire Crystals: 377, Water Crystals: 578, Metal Crystals: 321. A drop of 137 since last count.

Weapons stockpile: 1228 assault rifles, 3011 mags, 1722 auto pistols, 4177 mags, 1114 grenades, 1911 combat knives.

Heavy stuff? 22 shoulder-mounted rocket launchers, 42 rockets, 33 02C flamethrowers, and 70 spare fuel tanks. Ammo had taken a hit - 250 mags down for rifles, 50 mags fewer for pistols, 10 fewer rockets, and 7 fuel tanks used up.

Vehicles came out strong - 240 in total. Two "brute" trucks, 34 box trucks, 72 off-roaders, 4 full-water fire trucks, 17 sleeper buses, 12 standard coaches, 8 twenty-ton tankers, 4 five-ton tankers, 13 refrigerated trucks, 12 public buses, 5 riot control vans, 42 sedans, 14 infantry vehicles, and a single RV.

Biggest gain came from vehicles. Survivors often traded their empty rides for clean water. Ice Regiment snapped them up fast.

From the last tally, 145 added. Among them, 11 new box trucks, 60 off-roaders, 2 fire trucks, 7 sleeper buses, 3 big tankers, 3 small tankers, 5 public buses, 32 sedans, 1 RV, 3 troop carriers - all new to the list.

Food stocks: Roughly 35 tons of rice and flour. Meat: over 4000 frozen birds - chickens, ducks, geese. Plus 398 live pigs, 137 cattle, and 37 sheep.

Other supplies: 160 gas tanks, 472 sets of combat gear (males refitted), 622 motorbike helmets, 78 modified nail guns, 1441 blankets, 1779 sets of dinnerware, over 1600 clothing sets, hygiene supplies were plentiful. Cigarettes: 120 crates.

Food categories? Instant noodles and ready rice: over 1300 crates (running low), bottled water: 275 crates (tight), high-calorie food: 388 crates (also tight).

The notebooks were packed - over 50 pages of tight numbers. Magnus stared at them, head running hot. Only someone like Liana had the patience for this. Hand this job to him, and he’d’ve snapped day one.

Now that they’d gone through the stats, Magnus figured it was time to bring up the real deal - hitting Grainstock Town.
