Harem app-Chapter 177: Divorce
Chapter 177: Divorce
"Honey, I don’t want to have to see you anymore. I don’t love you anymore. We are nothing now," Harper said as clearly as she could to her ex-husband.
"You think you can just abandon me like this?"
"You were the one who abandoned your family a long time ago," she said in a firm tone. "I’m just formalizing the legal process."
"You only say that because a few times I tested the mercha..." he stopped himself mid-sentence, realizing the situation he was in.
He intended to defend himself by saying that testing the girls was part of his job. Which was definitely an absolute lie, and it wasn’t as if he had only cheated on Harper with girls who had been captured.
But the blonde didn’t even know about any of that; besides, there were two policemen there. At that point, saying something like that would be a confession of his crime. And for a man who was terrified of being arrested, that would be the final blow.
Instead, he tried to defend himself by saying they were just prostitutes, and that the one he truly loved was his wife. Those women were simple products, so that couldn’t be considered betrayal, could it?
Of course, all this only angered Liam’s ex-teacher even more, who looked at that man with contempt and pity. How had he become so pathetic?
"Don’t you have anything else to say in your defense?" she asked coldly. Then she quickly dismantled that man’s stupid argument, pointing out other examples of his failure as a husband and father.
In a few moments, he was completely defeated in the ’debate’ with his wife. After all, that idiot, besides being wrong, was too distraught to argue properly.
"And you think you can just leave me behind like this? Are you really going to abandon your husband to rot and suffer at a time like this?" he asked in desperation.
All that was left for him was to resort to emotional manipulation. He knew how empathetic his wife was, so this type of tactic worked very well on her.
"You’ll keep the house, you won’t have to give her a cent, or worry about taking care of your daughter." But Isabel wasn’t going to allow that.
"Who are you? And what do you know about me?"
"As far as I know, you still have money, if you haven’t lost it all gambling," she said in a cold tone. "What else do you want? You’re already an adult, so be responsible for your own life."
That man became even more frustrated listening to all that, but he also couldn’t find an answer. After all, there was nothing he could say in his defense.
"Harper, what do you think is going to happen after all this? Do you think you’ll get anything better than me?" He brazenly changed the subject, trying another tactic.
The blonde sighed deeply, bringing her hand to her chest. She had always been insecure, so she was very afraid of how things would be after this big change.
But she carefully faced reality.
Before her, she saw a decrepit, arrogant man who, at most, was worthy of pity. His stench, his unshaven beard, his gaze of a man addicted to gambling. What could be worse than someone like that?
"I don’t know what I’ll find," she admitted with a pessimistic tone. "It won’t be easy, but, honey, even trying, I couldn’t find anything worse than you," she said with a soft tone, almost as if she had no intention of speaking ill of the man.
Harper’s ex-husband, upon hearing her words, felt a wave of anger wash over him. His face, previously marked by frustration, now contorted into a mixture of fury and despair.
Without thinking for even a second about the consequences of his actions, he lunged towards his ex-wife, with clenched fists and eyes full of hatred.
"You don’t know anything! Nothing!" he shouted, his voice echoing through the room. "You think you’re better than me? You’re nothing but an ungrateful wretch!"
Harper recoiled instinctively but remained calm, knowing that any exaggerated reaction could worsen the situation. She took a deep breath, trying to maintain her composure.
"I didn’t say I’m better than you," she replied, keeping her voice steady. "I just said I don’t want this in my life anymore. Please, don’t do something you’ll regret." Despite everything, she gave a gentle response.
Alice, seeing that, clicked her tongue, sighing at the thought that her mother was too compassionate. Unlike her, the girl had inherited the more resentful side of her father.
But no one there would deny that Harper had every right in the world to be cruel at that moment if she wished.
Anyway, that didn’t change anything; after all, that idiot didn’t listen to his wife. Instead of calming down, he advanced with more fury.
Moving surprisingly fast, he grabbed Harper by the arm, pulling her forcefully. She screamed, trying to break free, but he was stronger.
But the policemen who were nearby wouldn’t just stand by and watch. They hesitated a little to react, but when he grabbed the woman, there was no denying it anymore: it was assault.
"Let her go now!" one of the policemen ordered with a frightening tone, pointing his gun at the man.
Harper’s ex-husband froze, looking at the policemen with a mixture of surprise and fear. He released Harper, who quickly moved away, holding her sore arm.
Then, the policemen moved forward, immobilizing the man. He tried to resist, but he was soon overpowered and handcuffed.
"You are under arrest for assault and attempted bodily harm," one of them said, while the other read him his rights.
Harper’s ex-husband continued to try to thrash around until he was thrown into the back of the police car by one of the men. He could struggle as much as he wanted, but he wasn’t going to escape.
The lawyer, seeing all this, immediately approached the blonde and advised her on the legal steps she could take. The man would probably be released after paying bail, but Harper had many ways to keep him away.
With that, everyone could breathe a sigh of relief. And Isabel was the first to make a joke to try to lighten the mood.
Then Amelia remembered that they had to choose the clothes to take. And quickly, the four girls forgot everything as they began to argue about which clothes should be put in the suitcases.
In addition, Alice now went to her room to get some personal items, such as her computer, books, and other things. Neither she nor her mother was particularly attached to objects, so they found it easier to leave most of their things behind than to have to deal with that man again.
That being said, before leaving her room, she saw the bag from the store where she had bought clothes to go meet Liam. Then she remembered that those clothes were still at Amelia’s house.
But since she didn’t know that Liam was going on the same cruise as her, the girl didn’t think much about it. She didn’t need sexy clothes if she wasn’t going to show them to her boyfriend.
Of course, later she would deeply regret leaving that behind.
And after hours of arguing, they gathered everything they wanted and went to Isabel’s house to sleep before the big day of embarkation.
A few hours before Harper went to her house and argued with her husband, Liam was arriving at Vanessa’s office, accompanied by Sophia.
They were well received, and a secretary soon guided them to the room where Seraphina and Vanessa were.
Both were wearing elegant suits, which gave them an air of seriousness. Sophia, on the other hand, liked to stand out more with her appearance, so she wore wide black pants, with beautiful high heels and an elegant black blouse.
And Liam? Well, the boy was wearing flip-flops, shorts, and a t-shirt, as he had left his house in a hurry.
Originally, he thought he would meet the two at their house, but instead, he had to go through the humiliation of walking through the entire company dressed that way.
And to make matters worse, all three of them were so well-dressed, making him feel even worse about it.
But none of the girls paid much attention to it. In fact, Seraphina and Vanessa couldn’t help but notice the closeness between Sophia and Liam.
More specifically, since they entered the room, the girl practically threw herself at her man, wrapping her arms around him with her voluminous breasts.
"I feel like every time I see you, you’re with a new girl," Seraphina commented, bringing her hand to her head as if she had a headache.
Liam smiled softly, having a deja vu upon hearing her repeat the same phrase she had already said when she found him leaving with Amelia.
"And this time it’s the daughter of one of the ’owners’ of the city," Vanessa smiled with a mixture of surprise and admiration.
Noting her mistake, Sophia moved away from the boy. She had managed to restrain herself all the way to the room, but at that moment her desire to be close to Liam was very high.
"Anyway, I think we should start talking about how to take down my father, shouldn’t we?" the girl said, quickly changing the subject.
