Guide To Train My Beast Husbands-Chapter 220: Shut up.
"Qian Qian, calm down."
Mother Ye understood why her daughter was losing her temper. However, they couldn’t just say some words to the elders just because they were angry.
Ye Qian Qian huffed. Feeling angry and unjust. She hated the cowardice of the elders because they were too careful in doing things and never took charge, but what she hated the most was that the entire tribe allowed them to make these silly decisions without giving them a hard time. Fine, she understood that it was an absolute necessity for them to run away the last time, but was it important this time around? She didn’t believe so.
They could protect their tribe this time around because they had enough totem warriors with them. If not, why would the attacker from the Black Snake tribe run away from their territory instead of heading toward them? It was because he or she was scared, and yet the elders wanted to give up without fighting for it. How many times would they even do it? Ye Qian Qian was getting tired of their cowardly actions and decisions, and yet no one in the tribe questioned them.
Seeing that the atmosphere was getting a bit heated up, Priestess Yuan spoke up appropriately, "If someone from the Black Snake tribe attacked our tribe’s chief, we are supposed to face them instead of running away. Because if we run away, then it will only send a message that they can scare us away into hiding. They will probably take us as weaklings who can be scared into hiding with just a little threat."
As expected, after the second Priestess Yuan finished speaking, most of the totem warriors were enraged.
Nan Wu said in a quiet voice, "If they want to take us on, then we will deal with them. It’s not like we cannot fight back."
Ah Man clasped her arm and patted her bulging muscles before chiming in with a nod, "That’s right. We will be waiting for them right here."
The other totem warriors also nodded after listening to their words.
"You—" Elder Qi was stunned when she saw that the women and the mer warriors wanted to fight with the Black Snake tribe. She looked from one warrior to another, whose faces were set and whose expressions were determined; her lips twitched when she saw that they were truly willing to fight the Black Snake tribe. She threw her hands in the air and exclaimed, "You can do whatever you want. Who am I to tell you what you can and cannot do?"
After she finished speaking, Elder Qi turned on her feet and stormed out of the cave. Not once did she take a look at Chief Xie, who was gravely injured.
Ruan Chanchan pursed her lips and watched the woman leave. Behind her, the rest of the elders also left without looking back; their heads were haughtily raised as if the person who was lying on the floor of the cold cave was no one to them but a stranger.
Xie Daiyu was also disheartened by their actions, but it was better if the elders left; at least they would leave them alone to their own devices. He turned to look at Ruan Chanchan and said to her, "You can save my mother, can’t you, Chanchan?"
Ruan Chanchan was staring at the wounds on Chief Xie’s body when she heard Xie Daiyu’s question. She raised her head and looked at the mer, and when she noticed the silent tears in his eyes, her heart couldn’t help but soften. She said softly, "I will try my best." Ruan Chanchan wanted to promise that she would be able to save his mother, but she didn’t want to make a promise that she might not be able to keep.
"Just do what you can... no one is going to blame you..." Xie Daiyu nodded as he took the rest of the crowd with him. He knew that Ruan Chanchan needed her space.
Once the crowd thinned inside the cave, Ruan Chanchan turned to look at Chief Xie and asked, "Now you can tell what happened, right?"
When Chief Xie heard her questions, her eyes flashed with a hint of surprise. She never expected Ruan Chanchan to see through her lies. Seeing that the woman was waiting for her to respond, Chief Xie sighed and then finally gave up resisting. She said in a low voice, "I didn’t see who it was, but I have a feeling that the attacker was not from the black snake tribe —it must have been the death hunter."
Chief Xie didn’t want to make the rest of the tribe any more scared than they were already. Thus, she hid the truth from them. 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚
"They tried to steal your totem beast core?" Ruan Chanchan asked as she crouched down and took Chief Xie’s wrist into hers and studied her pulse. With the knowledge that she had learnt, she realised that the woman was indeed quite gravely injured and what was more, the deepest gash was near her heart, right where her beast core was.
Her expression changed when she realised what had happened.
Chief Xie’s lips curled up when she saw Ruan Chanchan frowning so hard. She joked, "Don’t look so worried. You will start making me believe that you care for me."
Ruan Chanchan glanced at the woman who was still in the mood for joking and said to her, "Do you even know that if I weren’t here, then tonight would have been your last night?" Whoever it was, they tried their very best to steal her beast core. The injuries were quite severe, and no one in the beast world could heal them. This might be the reason why the attacker left the chief alone; it must be because she thought that the woman was gone for good.
Chief Xie chuckled softly. "Isn’t that the reason why I am still smiling? If not, I would probably be crying."
"Do you want to cry?" Ruan Chanchan deadpanned.
"Do you want to see me cry?"
"Shut up."
