Grinding EXP From Fireball Skill-Chapter 54: Tier One Magic
Li Wei returned to his room and sat down at the desk, finally letting out a sigh of relief.
’The dream world is getting more and more dangerous.’
Quite a few Nightmares had appeared this time, but none were as powerful as the Nightmare Snow Bear.
After all, that Nightmare had absorbed over a decade of Gu Ze’s Power of Nightmare. It was probably already approaching Tier Two.
Thankfully, he ultimately escaped the dream world unharmed.
He also got what he wanted.
Li Wei looked at the Memory Fragment in his hand.
More than what was inside the Memory Fragment, he wanted to know what the four streams of light were that had flown into his body after the Nightmares died.
It had happened once before, when he killed the Nightmare Snow Bear.
But that time, the Nightmare Core was mixed with the Memory Fragment, so Li Wei hadn’t been able to tell them apart.
This time, with only a Nightmare Core and no Memory Fragment, he finally realized they were two different things.
After searching for a while, Li Wei finally discovered what he got from killing the Nightmares.
[Great Dream Traveling Skill (Tier Zero)] 360/10000
It turned out to be experience for the Great Dream Traveling Skill.
This discovery sent Li Wei deep into thought.
’By obtaining others’ Memory Fragments, I can gain cultivation experience.’
’Killing Nightmares gives me experience for the Great Dream Traveling Skill. That means the Great Dream Traveling Skill and Nightmares share the same origin.’
’When I use the Great Dream Traveling Skill to become a Sleepwalker, I become a Nightmare!’
Looking back, what he was doing seemed to be the same as what Nightmares did.
There was no fundamental difference. Both stole the power of others in the dream world.
’So I’m the Nightmare!’
Li Wei smiled wryly.
He didn’t know whether this was a good thing or a bad thing.
He hadn’t even met an Evil God yet, and he was already on the verge of losing his humanity.
Li Wei shook his head, pushing the stray thoughts from his mind.
’Whatever. I’ll take it one step at a time. If things get too bad, I can just stop using the Great Dream Traveling Skill.’
He picked up George’s Memory Fragment and began to absorb and digest the memories.
Various fragmented memories flashed through his mind as Li Wei quickly locked onto the ones related to Magic Models.
In the memories, Li Wei found two complete Magic Models.
Small Fireball Technique, Fireball Skill!
A long while later, Li Wei opened his eyes. Text materialized before him.
[Small Fireball Technique (Tier Zero Small Success)] 3666/4000
[Fireball Skill (Tier One Entry Level)] 300/1000
[Invisible Armor Skill (Tier Zero Small Success)] 656/4000
[Great Dream Traveling Skill (Tier Zero)] 360/10000
[Ice Arrow Skill (Tier Zero Mastery)] 200/2000
After digesting George’s memories, his Small Fireball Technique proficiency had increased significantly.
He had also acquired new Magic—the Fireball Skill!
Li Wei broke into a smile. ’I finally got my hands on a Tier One Magic!’
’This brings me one step closer to advancing a tier.’
’But how am I going to explain how I learned the Tier One Fireball Technique?’
Li Wei was a bit troubled.
After mulling it over, he thought of someone—Mage Allen.
He had to find a way to pin learning the Fireball Skill on Allen.
Besides, given how the others at the Mage Tower treated Allen, they probably wouldn’t bother trying to verify it with him.
He could keep his Ice Arrow Skill under wraps, but the Fireball Skill was bound to become a staple in his arsenal.
He had to resolve the issue of where he learned the Magic to avoid future complications.
Now that he had a solution, Li Wei stopped worrying about it.
He cast the Fireball Skill.
Thanks to the cultivation experience from Mage George, his Fireball Skill was already at the Entry Level.
After mentally simulating the process of constructing the Magic Model a few times,
Li Wei used Mana to construct the Fireball Skill’s Magic Model.
Tier One Magic was far more complex than Tier Zero Magic.
The Small Fireball Technique only had six Magic Circuits, and the Invisibility Armor Spell only had seven.
The Fireball Skill, however, had a full sixteen Magic Circuits.
This made the Fireball Skill more powerful and the Magic itself more stable.
It took Li Wei ten seconds to construct the Fireball Skill’s Magic Model, and another 1.5 seconds to fill it with Magic Elements.
A basketball-sized Fireball floated in front of him.
The Fireball blazed, emitting a scorching radiance.
Li Wei could feel this Fireball was far more stable than a Small Fireball. Even if left hovering, it could last for twenty to thirty minutes.
This meant the Fireball Skill had a much longer attack range than the Small Fireball Technique.
With a thought, his Spiritual Power drove the Fireball to circle around him, spiraling outwards.
’It’s easier to control than the Small Fireball Technique. The maximum control distance has doubled, reaching twenty meters!’
’The flight speed is much faster, too—about twice that of the Small Fireball Technique.’
The Nightmare Snow Bear appeared in the room.
The hovering Fireball spotted its target and shot toward the Nightmare Snow Bear.
BOOM!
A terrifying blast of fire erupted, completely engulfing the Nightmare Snow Bear.
Even from over ten meters away, Li Wei could feel the searing heat and the rolling shockwave.
’Its power is comparable to the Self-detonating Fireball Technique, maybe a little stronger.’
The Nightmare Snow Bear had already disappeared.
With a wave of his hand, the wrecked room returned to its original state.
’In summary, the Tier One Fireball Technique is more than five times as powerful as the Small Fireball Technique. And in terms of stability, controllability, attack range, and flight speed, it’s vastly superior.’
’The Mana consumption is ten times that of the Small Fireball Technique! And twice that of the Self-detonating Fireball Technique!’
The cost of a Tier One Magic was truly astounding.
With his current Mana reserves, he could cast a Tier One Magic four times at most.
But the power of a Tier One Magic was just as astounding.
An Entry Level Magic could easily annihilate the Nightmare Snow Bear.
As his proficiency with the Magic increased, so would its power.
Li Wei looked at the proficiency panel, folding his arms in thought.
’The Small Fireball Technique has low Mana consumption, which is an advantage. I can keep grinding it and try to get it to the Perfection Level.’
’The Fireball Skill has a huge Mana cost, but since it’s tied to awakening my Extraordinary Traits and advancing to an Official Mage, I need to spend time grinding it, too.’
Having figured this out, Li Wei quickly laid out his future cultivation plan.
For now, he would put the cultivation of the Invisibility Armor Spell on hold and focus on power-grinding the Fireball Skill to awaken his Extraordinary Traits as soon as possible.
He couldn’t stop practicing the Small Fireball Technique either, since he was less than four hundred experience points away from an upgrade.
Li Wei was quite looking forward to seeing what a Great Success Level Magic could do.
The Chain of Small Fireballs Skill was just an application of the Small Fireball Technique, not an independent Magic.
Just like the Charged Fireball Skill and the Self-detonating Fireball Technique.
Li Wei power-ground the Fireball Skill in the dream world.
When it was about time, he exited the dream world.
「Early in the morning, before dawn.」
Everyone was woken up to get on the road.
"Commander Orn says we have to reach the battlefield before nightfall! Everyone up, get ready to move out!"
Everyone rose, tidied up briefly, and resumed the march.
Breakfast consisted of gnawing on dry rations while on the move.
By the time Li Wei woke up, the Earth Beast-drawn cart he was in was already some distance from the camp.
Gu Ze glanced at him, broke off a piece of the large flatbread in his hand and handed it to him.
"You’re awake. I saw you were still sleeping, so I didn’t wake you."
Li Wei took the flatbread. It was rock-hard, a coarse mixture of dried meat granules and flour.
The flatbread mixed with meat granules was dry rations specially supplied for Extraordinary Professionals.
Ordinary soldiers could only eat wheat flour flatbread.
Li Wei picked up his waterskin, took a quick rinse, and spat the water out.
He sat down and began to chew on the flatbread, needing a swig of water just to swallow it.
Li Wei asked, "Nothing happened last night, right?"
