God Ash: Remnants of the fallen.-Chapter 1115: Whitleheim (1).
Baldur was silent for some time.
Then he roared in laughter,
"I see! Is that so...!"
He continued to laugh for a long time.
Finally, after a few minutes had gone by, the laughing stopped.
"I respect your reasons, Cain the Golden Demon. In that case, I will be fighting you as a worthy opponent."
Cain closed his eyes and let out a sigh of resignation.
’Of course the bastard still has something up his sleeves.’ Cain thought bitterly.
Unfortunately, the had no other choice but to see it through. After all, there was no way he would be avoiding this battle. And while his enemy did seem rather terrifying, he unfortunately had enough faith in himself to know he was not going to lose.
However, that faith was quickly put to the test...
A smoldering of bright radiance enveloped Baldur’s arm. His old weapon was gone, and in its blade was a snow white greatsword.
The moment he laid his eyes on the weapon, all the nerves in his body began screaming.
No. They began pleading with him to get back.
He grimaced, ’What the hell is that?!’
"A warrior is only as good as his weapon, or so the saying goes..." Baldur began, pointing the sword at Cain,
"Let us see who’s ideal is greater, Cain! Let us see who’s blade’s edge is more mighty!" With one final roar, Baldur shot forward.
’Fast!’
Cain quick brought up {Eidwyrm}.
The white greatsword in the hand of Baldur struck down against his blade.
Cain’s eyes widened. And was immediately filled with blood as a sickening crack later, he shot back towards the ground.
Just before his back slammed into, it, he flipped and dispersed the force through his legs.
Vision swimming, Cain’s eyes were wide as blood dropped from his eyes and nose,
’What was that?’
His mind scrambled for a reasonable explanation, but it found none.
He was not given any more liberty as the next moment, death seemed to engulf him whole.
This was no time to be testing the waters or holding back.
He let out a furious roar and waves of Demonic power rose off his body and exploded out with incredible force, turning the stones beneath and around him to dust.
{Eidwyrm} was like a black scar in the world as it cut forward, smashing into the white greatsword of Baldur the Stone Ox King.
The Ox King grinned and stood his ground.
Cain’s eyes widened even more in shock,
"You see surprised, Demon. In that case, how about I clear up your confusion."
Cain felt a mighty surge of energy slam into him, throwing him backwards.
As his body was sent flying, the Ox King chased after, blade aimed at his neck.
Pulling back to dodge, Cain completely airborne, kicked against the wind, completely changing his path.
His blade sang, smashing into the temple of the Ox King.
Cain gritted his head. Hitting him felt like striking a rock.
Unbothered by the hit, Baldur began,
"Her name is Whitleheim. She was named after the Star she was forged in— crafted by the artificers in the palace of the goddess herself. It is a mighty weapon fit only for the mightiest."
Cain jumped back to make distance. But Baldur didn’t chase at the moment. Instead, he stared loving at the blade,
"It is a special blade. With a special ability that will make sure I reign supreme in this world forever."
Cain’s eyes narrowed. But he didn’t need to worry about the details of this strange, mysterious skill.
Because he was told directly instead,
"Resonance. The ability, to become so finely attuned with its master, they become one and the same— completely synched with one another."
Baldur glanced forward,
"With this weapon, I can lay waste to entire cities with just a swing, or upturn an entire ocean. All according to my wishes." Baldur took a thrusting stance.
"It is much more powerful than your blade."
Cain’s expression was rather bitter and ugly.
To tell the truth, he was rather displeased. The damned cow was already so powerful. He just had to pull out an even more disgusting weapon.
From what he could guess, this "resonance" Baldur spoke off, was simply the compatibility or rather, proficiency with the weapon. He remembered the early days of his sword skills where he had to build up proficiency with the basics.
It was much like that in this case, only that Baldur didn’t have to work for a damn thing, and the effects were at least a hundred times more.
If Baldur swung the sword with enough force to swat a fly out of the air, this resonance could amplify it, if he wished, producing enough force to cleave a mountain in half from its peak all the way to its base..
Cain trembled.
In that case, if he swung with the intent to destroy a mountain...
Baldur was already swinging the blade.
’Crap!’
Cain’s eyes widened as time seemed to slow down all around him.
He got to witness first hand, the sight of a physical attack tearing reality itself open.
The force of the blow was so much, it broke reality, creating a devastating, destructive black gash in the world.
The battlefield below was sent into chaos as an enormous blade of darkness fell, cutting into the ground.
A moment later, it disappeared, but not after leaving a deep wound in the surface of Urbus.
All that had been done, with not even a hint of magic from Baldur. It was all muscles.
All raw, brutal, physical might.
Cain swallowed hard.
’Monster. This guy is a monster.’
He suddenly wasn’t feeling all too confident any more.
Baldur brandished his sword and guffawed,
"So, what do you think? Do you still believe your conviction matches mine?"
Cain was silent for some time. 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖
Then he spoke. Calmly...
"Seeing that you’ve been honest with me all this time, I’ll be honest with you as well— I don’t give a rat’s ass about your conviction."
Cain looked up, his smile unfazed,
"That just now was quite impressive. I doubt I have that much fire in my bones to pull something like that off. But that doesn’t mean you have what it takes to drive that blade through my chest. If you could, you’d have done it by now. So what’s the fucking wait?"
