Chapter 1116: Whitleheim (2).

Energy exploded forth like a beast roaring from slumber.

Baldur roared with laughter as he fell, the heavens trailing behind him.

In his hand, {Whitleheim} was like a star, burning with everlasting, boundless power.

Cain sucked in a sharp breath. His body began to change, stretching and transforming into a more demonic form.

Down below, one would be able to see a force of white, like the boundless heavens, and a force of dark like the eternal abyss, clashing together.

A layer of crimson flames ignited around {Eidwyrm} which Cain brought around in an arc.

The blade clashed against {Whitleheim}, producing a sea of sparks.

Cain spun a half circle and smashed his blade down again.

And then again.

And again.

And again.

"Amazing! No one has ever been able to keep up with me for so long! More! More!" Baldur roared with laughter as his strikes became more furious.

The edge of {Whitleheim} glowed a stunning, rich radiance as the energy continued to build up.

Sensing the danger, Cain shot back.

Baldur swung the blade furiously in response, causing dozens of sword-shaped disks of energy to fly out, each one aimed at Cain.

Swooshing through the air, Cain narrowly dodged them all just in time to be welcomed by an overhead swing from Baldur. He fucked efficiently and tried stabbing up.

The sound of metal clashing against stone cut through the world with a clear ringing.

Cain grimaced.

’Still won’t budge, huh...’

The Stone Ox King was much like the {Anchor Sovereign Beast} he had fought back on Redscale.

They both had incredible reserves of physical power, and their defenses were nearly infallible.

Of course, the thing to note, was nearly...

When compared to the Anchor Sovereign with its bristle-like coat that could absorb and dissipate force quite easily and purposefully.

Compared to that, there was a more mystical element behind Baldur’s defenses.

That being said, he believed the threshold was much lower than that of the Anchor Sovereign. After all, the beast had been a Tier 3 creature.

All he needed to do was break through the limit. Then he would be able to inflict as much harm as possible.

But that was going to require a good amount of force. Force he had yet to acquire. Luckily, he still had a few abilities hidden under his sleeves.

A layer of blackness rolled over the surface of his skin. He activated {Black Warrior}.

A wisp of primordial energy— something so ancient— as ancient as the sky and the gods themselvesz flowed through his body.

The dark light pulsated weakly. But the boost it provided was anything but weak.

Baldur’s eyes widened as he felt a sudden sense of danger coming from Cain.

Still, they were both far too entrenched in their battle.

And he was having far too much fun to pull back.

Their blades clashed once again.

This time, Baldur groaned. The force behind the blow was far greater than he had imagined, forcing him back a bit.

Cain grit his teeth as he pushed forward.

"That’s more like it!" Baldur growled.

His muscles bulged and the glow of {Whitleheim} swelled even more.

Cain’s eyes widened, ’This guy...!’

At this point, Cain was fairly sure they had reached a stalemate.

Their weapons screamed against one another, their edges grinding to create a cloud of sparks and fire.

Then, they separated.

Heaving heavily, Cain’s eyes had narrowed into slits.

"Hey..." Baldur’s voice reached his ears amidst the storm.

"Why don’t we cut this farce?"

A deeply terrifying light within his eyes, Baldur raised his blade,

"Let’s put an end to this. To decide who’s conviction is the strongest, we need nothing but a single strike— one to put an end to this battle."

Cain was silent for a moment.

Then he stretched {Eidwyrm} forward silently.

The grin on Baldur’s face widened,

"I knew it! Our minds truly are the same!"

A pillar of radiance shot into the sky.

At the same time, Cain concentrated and focused most of the energy in his body into a single point— Eidwyrm.

The weapon in his hand trembled, perhaps protesting the amount of raw energy being poured into it.

Cain felt his body heating up, so much that the pouring rain around him was turned into a blanket of steam before it even touched his skin.

The world around him darkened a bit as the overwhelming demonic energy flowed out, tainting it.

But this taint was lined with vigor that would have driven a normal being straight into madness.

Overhead, Cain could feel the energy gathering.

The power behind it was nearly incomprehensible. He couldn’t help but wonder just how much of a monster one had to be to create something like that.

He chuckled, ’Then again, I guess I am no different.’

Baldur had his eyes closed as he basked in the glow of his magnificence.

{Whitleheim} sang his praises, gathering and condensing the energy within him into a single stream that coated the blade.

Around him, the space became unstable and volatile, so much it began ripping in various areas.

He glanced down, eyes brimming with power and chaos.

He believed there was no human alive that could touch him. And if that was the case, then his blade believed so as well. After all, it was just an extension of him.

For a moment, there was stagnancy as the world came to a crawl.

The pillar of light condensed in a split second.

The Stone Ox King’s body began to transform. His muscles swelled and turned rock hard. The energy gathered around him, consolidating into physical shielding.

Even he would have to be protected against the feedback of his own ability.

It was just far too overwhelming.

Finally, the pillar had condensed into an enormous blade that reached the skies.

A split moment later, the sword came down.

The world was split apart again... 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺

Watching death itself approach, Cain felt a strange serenity.

The darkness around {Eidwyrm} was now so dense, it had taken physical presence.

Behind him, coiling around and glaring at the skies— at the heavens with the height of defiance, wa the ethereal form of a black, demonic dragon.

It opened its maw...

Cain swung the blade.
