Chapter 1111: Inevitable (1).

The world has fallen to chaos.

Bullets and volleys of spells fell like the weeping sky, turning the world below to the site of a catastrophe.

However, compared to many other battles that had happened in this City, those below were much hardier than ever before. Their blood was not so easily split.

Roaring beasts crashed into one another in waves, those riding in their backs leaping into the sky and tearing at their opponents with their spears and swords, even as the ground was bombarded.

Steel clashed again steel.

Blood spilled across the ground.

But not a single body had dropped to the ground yet.

It would be a while till that happened too, as each fighter was a powerhouse in their own right.

Because of this, however, the battlefield was much more chaotic and terrifying than anything that had happened before.

The earth was upturned and swallowed by itself. Summons were shattered, and blades sang. Magic birthed mayhem, and the violent roar of the rain seemed to solidify everything in one single moment.

This was a battle for the ages. A Battle raw and pure. Between humans warring for territory and potential resources.

Blaze growled as he stabbed his spear forward, only for it to be met with the flat on an icy blade.

The warrior standing right before him, was one of the twelve Elders— Frejlorr the Frosthand.

He was a large bulky man decked out in heavy armor, wielding a large greatsword that as just as imposing as he was.

Around him, was his legion of Frosthands battling against a small troop of Lightslayers. Because they outnumbered them, each Lightslayer fought against at least three Frosthands at once.

And they had yet to lose ground. However, it was clear they would soon begin losing ground.

Unfortunately, Blaze couldn’t bother about them for now. Because his opponent was a rather dangerous one.

The greatsword of his opponent constantly bled a terrifying icy energy.

However, this icy energy did not come from the sword itself.

No, the energy came from the man himself. And with every swing of his sword, the chilling energy that trend everything it touched into ice burst forth.

Of course, Blaze had his flames, amongst a few other tricks up his sleeves. However, this type of opponent was usually tough for him to deal with. And it was simply a matter of elemental affinity.

He let out a silent sigh of frustration then rushed forward.

The spear in his arm was like an extension of his body, lunging like a violent serpent at times, and then, guarding like a defensive turtle at other times.

His attack and defense bled into a single synchronous style that was hard to outclass. He was, after all, a rather skilled combatant, even without his magic.

The same could be said about his opponent. After all, although he looked a little different, he could recognize him all too well.

He had once been the scion of a wealthy family in the City. They had once trained under the same martial schools as well until their paths ultimately diverged. And while he had no personal relationship with him, they had indeed known each other once.

Once before all this.

They were both vestiges of their own pasts.

Unfortunately, the past was long since buried. There was no shared camaraderie between them.

They were now fighting for opposite sides. That was the nature of the game.

Such was fate too.

Blaze let his energy run wild, swirling into a massive cyclone of flames. Frejlorr stood still and stabbed his blade into the ground.

A thick sheet of ice shot out of a magic circle that blossomed on the muddy earth, blocking out the flames.

Gritting his teeth, Blaze took an urgent step back. Frejlorr swiftly cut down the ice wall and chased after him, swinging the blade at his head. 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

The Frosthand was cold and meticulous, his technique leaving little space for opposition. It was domineering and cold like ice.

Blaze’s eyes narrowed.

But it had once major flaw...

Dodging the blow, he twisted his body, angling his blade upward into a stab, right at his throat.

A look of panic flashed in Frejlorr’s eyes as he dashed back. Even then, the tip of the spear nicked his skin, drawing blood.

Even though the wound stitched itself away a moment later, Frejlorr’s expression turned black and frigid.

"You are still rather skilled." He said darkly.

Blaze brandished his spear and pointed it at his throat,

"I could say the same thing."

The two glared at one another for a brief moment. Then they rushed forward again.

Storms of ice and fire exploded forth, blasting those around them away.

The two exchanged blows in rapid succession, each one determined to find an opening. The next moment, they separated.

Blaze exhaled deeply, the air from his mouth white and foggy.

Soft wisps of fire enveloped him to warm him up as his limbs were already growing stiff.

He glanced around and his eyes narrowed.

Although it seemed like he had the upper hand, in a moment, the tides were sure to turn.

His greatest advantage over Frejlorr was he was faster than he was. Of course, Frejlorr was aware of that. To counter this, the Frosthand had slowly been extending forward, a domain of frost. Once it became chilly enough, it would begin to affect even the cells of his opponent until they were simply too cold to function.

Then he could brutally slaughter them.

It was with this power, Frejlorr the Frosthand had risen to the position of elder.

"Just like thw chill the Blood Moon brought, in the coldest of winter nights. Streaks of crimson across the white fields. The wicked moonlight like your blood." The Frosthand declared.

Blaze grimaced.

He could clearly feel his muscles stiffening.

His eyes grew dark.

Then they brightened instantly,

"If you think that will be enough do do me in, you are highly mistaken..."

He smashed the butt of his spear into the ground, and a conflagration of flames enveloped him,

"Let’s start this battle for real now shall we."

Frejlorr huffed as he drandished his blade,

"Indeed we shall."
