God Ash: Remnants of the fallen.-Chapter 1110: War is Strange.
War is strange.
In the thick of it, all purpose is lost, and meaning ceases to exist.
One loses sight of time, and in the fields drenched in red, with that metallic stench being the only constant, the world itself is drains of every other color.
Cain had come to terms a long time ago that having to turn his blade towards other humans was a guarantee.
This acceptance stemmed from conflict of interest, as well as the strange fate the Celestials push onto the worlds their remnants fall upon.
Most Celestials were constantly in conflict for new territory. Even upon their death, the more territory a Celestial possesses, the greater the reserves of Divinity they can draw upon for their rebirth.
This amount of Divinity is directly related to the probability of the rebirth being success and stable.
And because Celestials that were still alive still lusted over more territory and more divinity shackled, it made sense that they would want to hurry up their expansion.
As such, their existence was both a blessing and a curse.
Until they united a world under their umbrella of salvation, they were a cancer to it.
A strange form of duality.
And of course, these conflicts were not things they personally manufactured. Instead, it was just a consequence.
Time, location, resources, strength...
All these were the catalysts to push their followers into conflict.
In this case, it was simply about location and resources.
The idea of two separate Celestial settlements existing within the bounds of City Z was not any Celestial would want, as not only would it slow down the rate of their influence being spread, the influence of the other God could very well plunder their followers, stealing away precious Divinity.
Because of this, battles fueled by divine influence, were sure to be incredibly fucked...
The sky turned dark.
The soft pitter-patter of rain filled the ears of many and all.
The wind was grim but determined.
High in the sky, roars, groans, and cries of various Mutant and Aether Avians filled the air.
On the ground, things were even more turbulent.
A bolt of lightning cut through the darkness like a sheep knife.
The reality of the world had begun to bare its teeth.
From now on, the battles they would be fighting, was not limited to just Devils, Beasts and everything in between.
No, the distinction was now much clearer— they were going to be fighting their fellow humans as well.
Magic-powered barriers of all colors and make were deployed in both sides, wide enough to span from end to end.
Sperated only by distance, the charge slowly brought the two opposing sides together.
Soaking in the rain water, Cain took a moment to clear his thoughts.
Right now, he had to empty his mind and forget everything that tore at his heart.
A moment of distraction could prove lethal, and he couldn’t afford that.
After all, this was a very crucial battle.
It was also sure to be a dangerous one...
He took a step forward.
And then another step.
And then another.
Those behind him did the same, with some even leaving the confines of the ground and taking off into the air.
Picking up speed, Cain turned into a blitz. With a thought, he summoned Ruby. Jumping into the back of his contracted beast, his charge was even faster as she let out a soul-splitting road.
At the moment, he couldn’t be bothered by those around and behind him.
They were all bound to fight their own battles here today.
He had already set his sights on his target— the presumed strongest behind the blood-red dome.
Baldur the Ox King was an enormous behemoth of a man, large and dominant even amongst the monsters on the battlefield.
He rode an enormous creature with magnificent horns. The beast breathed fire as its flaming hooves scalded the moist ground, leaving a train of steam and fire.
Cain could tell what a weapon of mass destruction looked like, and this guy fit the image quite well.
Fortunately, he was a monster himself.
Thee cold eyes of the Ox King had already locked onto him. Beasts of similar stature could sense once another like them was close by.
Swinging {Eidwyrm}, Cain let his Ki soar wilding, charging into a violent film of concentrated energy on the surface of the blade.
His body began changing, turning more and more monstrous.
Then he swung his blade.
The sky and the earth was split open.
Seeing this, Baldur’s expression changed a look of pure exhilaration appeared in the stone face of the ox king.
He let out a bellow and leapt into.
Dense energy concentrated on the edge of the axe’s blade as he swung.
The world crackled and broke as the two streams of violent energy collided.
The next moment, a blinding flash of white light could be seen. Then an explosion.
The ground unraveled, with huge chunks of it exploding violent through the air.
For a moment, the downpour was blown back into the clouds. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂
Then it began anewz this time, even more turbulent and violent as the dark skies became darker.
The two monsters leapt off their steeds, even as the beasts beneath them clashed in a glorious fury of limbs, claws, fangs, and death.
Cain’s eyes were filled with murder on malice and he let out a roar.
The edge of {Eidwyrm} singed the wind, erupting with crimson flames as it smashed into yh shaft of the Ox King’s axe.
The Stone Ox King shot through the clouds, blown far away from the site of the battle, back towards the crimson dome.
A pair of Demon wings sprouted from Cain’s, back as he shot forward in pursuit.
In the next moment, however, an overwhelming feeling of danger wrapped around him.
BANG!
Tilting his body just in the last second, he avoided a fist surrounded by glowing amber energy.
The grizzly face of the Stone Ox King was reflected in the depths of his eyes .
Baldur roared in excitement,
"More! Give me more!"
Cain couldn’t help but grimace.
’This bastard is a lunatic as well. How exciting.’
His blade whipped forward once again...
