God Ash: Remnants of the fallen.-Chapter 1089: Tempering the Body.
Blacker that dark.
The soft black mist brought misfortune and ruin.
The taste on the tongue— butter and horrid.
With a wicked stench that cling to the back of the throat.
Cain had a terrible expression on his face as he peered out his tent.
On the back of the {Longhorn Mares}, the rather putrid nature of the Devil Miasma was not very overwhelming. However, now that they were on the ground, it simply overpowered every other thing.
Plus, with it being night, the visibility was rather low.
To counter that, there were dozens of magic lamps erected on the watch posts all around their temporary camp.
But they still couldn’t do anything about the smell.
’What a vile stench this is.’
He let out a sigh then scowled, tasting the rancid air on his lips.
’I can’t sleep.’
There was simply too much for him to worry about.
Not even the Devil Mutants, but rather a case of a surprise attack. He couldn’t delude himself into thinking he was infallible.
After all, the recent ordeal with Anathe had showed him quite well he still had a long way to go.
’And who knows what kind of secrets they could be holding.’
He sighed again then sat up.
Alone in his tent, he appreciated the solitude.
But there were far more pressing things for him to do than rest.
He closed his eyes.
The {Sunflame Body Tempering Technique} was currently his best bet in improving his physique in both the short term and the long run.
The nature of the Eternal Sunfire was also steeped in mystery.
The Sunfire was not a true flame. Rather, it was a manifestation of something much more ancient and arcane.
***
{Eternal Sunfire}: "The source of the Eternal Sunfire is Eternity itself. It will burn forever, fueled by the void and the emptiness within.
{Sunflame Body Tempering Technique}: Makes use of the power of the Eternal Sunfire to gradually improve the physique of the host until it is comparable to that of a Celestial Being.

The runes on the surface of his bones glowed with a soft vibrant radiance. 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖
The nature of the flame was simply that it burned from nothing.
Or rather, the nothingness that was Eternity.
It was a strange ability and one in his fairly large repertoire he was yet to master in the slightest.
It was the remnant legacy of a mad god that had burned from the wrath of those he had dessicated.
And in the end, continuous refining from this ’flame’ would grant him a body with power that was comparable to that of a Celestial.
But that was just on the surface.
In reality, he had notice that everything he circulated the body tempering technique, a few unexpected things happened.
The first one being, the strange reaction the Eternal Sunfire had with his blood and Ki.
At first, he had believed it was just part of the refining process.
However, he had come to realize that this was not the case at all.
And since it had been minute, he had not really put a lot of thought into it.
However, recently, the changes had beenore pronounced.
His blood that had mostly had a crimson hue, just like the blood of any human, maybe just a bit darker, was slowly taking on black and golden streaks within it.
When he had looked closely, he had realized that the strange colors were as a direct result of something seeping into his blood from his bone marrow— bone marrow within his bones that were marked with the {Sunflame Body Tempering Rune}.
The strange colors themselves were simply blood vessels that had been tainted with and bound to runes he could make no sense of. This meant they were runes that surpassed his Tier.
And it seemed like the more he made use of the technique, the more the changes became apparent.
However, when it came to more immediate changes, they were still unnoticeable.
Either that, or he was having a hard time gauging his current strength.
Compared to six months ago, he was significantly stronger.
Not only had be defeated a Tier 3 creature as a Tier 2 himself, he had also done if fairly easily when compared to the ordeal with Abaloth a few months ago.
He sighed and continued circulating the technique.
The flames that burned from the nothingness. The blaze that glow from the bowels of Eternity...
The wisps of golden fire wafted off his bones and bled into his bloodstream, burning at his impurities.
The process was painful, but was manageable.
The feeling of uncomfortable heat was supplemented by a cozy warmth that soothed the soul. Almost to the point where he could ignore the pain and discomfort.
The flames mixed in with his blood, traveling through the special veins granted to him by the Devil of Death herself.
The runes on those veins lit up in resonance with the sea of flames and blood.
Cain felt his heart speed up as he watched the magical process.
Although his spirit and Mana were sealed away, that did nothing to stop his ability to let his consciousness dive into his body. Something he was quite glad for.
He sucked in a deep breath and exhaled sharply.
The surface of his body was immediately lit with the golden runes as the inside of the tent began to heat up.
The Sunfire was no flame. But it sure was damn hot.
Drops of black sweat mixed in with grime and impurities seeped out of his skin. Even the terrible Devil Miasma seemed to stay away from the glow and radiating heat coming off of him.
After a few hours had passed, Cain opened his eyes.
In their depths, a faint rune that resembled a golden dragon. So faint it was, it could barely be registered as existing.
Of course, Cain was oblivious to its existence, and in a few moments, it faded away.
Blinking rapidly, Cain stared down at his fists and clenched them.
His brows furrowed,
"Why do I feel lighter?"
