Chapter 141: Terrence’s Skills

Kai had decided to use one of his precious Inventory Slots for the Status Crystal since it was an expensive item. It could only be obtained by purchasing from the Gene Trader using Survivor Medals.

"I got it..." Kai said as he pulled out the Status Crystal.

He had only used them on locals, but he had never tried them with Claire and the other Foreign Survivors.

After all, it only had 50 charges, and after using it about 40 times, he didn’t have enough left. He could recharge it by spending Spirit Points, but he wasn’t sure how many Spirit Points would be needed for a single charge. That would only be known once it was completely empty.

He held it up, stepping closer to Terrence.

The bound man squirmed... His eyes widened as he realized what was about to happen.

Oommpphhh!

He didn’t want to have his Skill revealed!

He tried to shake his head, but only muffled sounds escaped from behind the gag. But soon, it touched his forehead!

"Let’s see what you’ve been hiding." Kai muttered as he was really confused about this situation. He didn’t really see Terrence as a perverted man. The man even saved Jonas and Aurora and brought them into his shelter, earning him a title that was like a Savior...

However, seeing how Claire looked really serious, it seemed that Terrence had hidden himself really well.

Soon, the crystal pulsed, and one charge was used up...

Light spilled across Terrence’s body. Then, lines of text began to form in the air, similar to their Apocalypse System.

Claire folded her arms, watching intently while Alfie stood nearby, still shaken from earlier, but his eyes were locked on the display.

Kai’s team leaned in, waiting for the revelation.

Soon, the truth was about to be exposed.

[ Name: Terrence ]

[ Title: Survivor, Rescuer ]

[ Level: 12 ]

[ Health: 120 / 585 ]

[ Spirit: 20 / 156 ]

[ Physique Rating: D ]

[ Talent: Pathfinder (Epic) ]

[ Active Skills: Trail Mark (Lv3) ]

[ Passive Skills: Hypnotic Suggestion (Lv5), Danger Sense (Lv2) ]

[ Skill Points: 0 ]

Kai’s eyes widened. "Hypnotic Suggestion... Level 5."

The others froze as they saw the man’s set of abilities.

"That explains everything..." Jonas muttered.

Farrah also clenched her fists as she realized what had happened. "No wonder Claire tied him up. He probably tried it on someone and got caught by Claire. That’s a dangerous ability within the shelter."

Aurora’s face paled. "Just how strong is this ability? Maybe if he spoke even a few words, we might’ve obeyed without realizing it... But this skill isn’t meant to be used against A.I. Army... What’s the system thinking? Why make a Gene Skill aimed at humans? Aren’t we supposed to be helping each other?"

Victor shook his head. "And with Pathfinder combined with Danger Sense... he’s basically impossible to ambush. He can sense threats and escape routes. I wonder how Claire managed to catch him... Claire, do you have a counter against his skill? You’re awesome."

Claire smiled as she heard this.

"Something like that. Don’t worry. If we encounter any mind controllers or those with similar Skills and Talent, I’ll take care of them!"

The moment she said it, everyone froze in shock. It was a statement you couldn’t help but trust.

If a beam of light had fallen on her, then she would’ve looked like an angel.

Kai also understood their concern.

He still recalled the man who had a stronger talent that could turn other humans into puppets or maybe slaves. He then used other Survivors like expendables to attack their shelter before. That man even controlled Samantha, leading to her death.

Nonetheless, he didn’t need Claire’s explanation anymore.

The truth was clear even if she remained silent.

Terrence had hidden a dangerous ability that could compromise the entire shelter, and he must have used it on someone within Assault Team B. That’s not easily forgiven.

However, Kai couldn’t really recommend dealth penalty if this was only a preemptive strike to avoid any troubles in the future. That felt a bit too much, considering no one seemed to be injured except for him.

But still, Wallace spat on the ground. "We should torture him. Make him spill everything he had done before without our knowledge! Maybe he already used it on us, and we just didn’t know! A guy like this doesn’t deserve mercy."

Kai doubted that Terrence had used it before since it would’ve been noticed by Claire, but he didn’t speak and just observed the man’s reaction.

As expected, he looked horrified. His eyes were pleading as if he was saying that he had been wronged!

Ralph then shook his head. "Or use him as bait. Tie him up, throw him out when Sentinels come, and let them chase him instead of us."

Marissa frowned. "That’s cruel... but he’s dangerous. If he uses this skill, he could turn us against each other."

Jonas added, "We could exile him. Send him out with no weapons, no food. If he survives, fine. If not, it’s his fault."

Well, Terrence had still rescued him and Aurora from Haven-15. He didn’t really want Terrence to die here. If he were exiled, he would still have a chance of survival.

The group’s voices overlapped as they provided their suggestions on what to do with him.

Terrence squirmed, and without a doubt, his muffled cries were desperate.

Finally, he managed to push against the gag enough to make himself heard.

"Mmmphhh! Please! Don’t kill me!"

Claire removed the gag just enough for him to speak.

Terrence gasped as he continued... "Listen! I swear I won’t use it again! Please, forgive me! If you want, imprison me... exile me... anything! Just don’t kill me!"

He looked at Kai directly, his eyes filled with desperation.

"I have family back on Earth. A wife... children... I only wanted to survive here. I didn’t mean to hurt anyone. I’ll accept punishment, but please... don’t end me like this. Right! I have some items with me in my Inventory! You can have all of them!"

The Foreign Survivors exchanged uneasy glances. His words made him really pitiful...

Furthermore, it seemed that Claire had actually stopped him in time before committing something unforgivable. Still, the danger of his Skill was undeniable.

Kai remained silent for a moment...

Would he allow someone with Hypnosis Ability to stay in his shelter?

Everyone waited for his decision.
