Chapter 1090: Helpless Raze

Raze’s lungs burned as she sprinted through the forest... Branches snapped under her boots, and she was already covered in injuries, but she didn’t mind them at all.

The Phoenix Phalanx were relentless, their shouts echoing behind her, their talents lighting up the night like a storm of fire and ice. She had already burned through half her tokens, and her satchel felt lighter with every desperate move.

She didn’t even know what had happened to Niles. Had he escaped? Had he been cut down in the mist? His phantom strikes had bought her a chance, but now she was alone again.

Her hand brushed against the Requiem Bell, still warm from its last use. The cooldown had finally ended...

She gritted her teeth as she looked behind her... The enemies are getting too close!

Now or never.

She raised the bell and rang it once.

The sound wasn’t loud... As a matter of fact, it didn’t even seem like the sound of a bell. It was eerie, resonant, and there was a vibration that crawled into the bones of every survivor nearby. The members of the Phoenix Phalanx staggered for a moment as their Movement Skills failed to work!

Crash! Crash! Crash!

Many of them who were using Dash Skills, Haste Steps, and others, fell face-first to the ground!

No one was spared... Their skills fizzled, and for a brief moment, silence reigned.

Raze seized the chance. She activated Dragon Skill... It was Flamebound Wings! Just like that, her aura manifested into blazing wings that carried her above the treetops. She soared with her halberd, cutting down two archers who had been tracking her.

This Skill was not really considered a Survivor Skill since it was an effect of her Talent as an Epic Dragon Knight. Thanks to that loophole, she was able to activate this ability.

Unfortunately, this skill had a limited duration and a long cooldown...

Nonetheless, it was still not easy for her...

Apparently, a Survivor with Iron Will Talent resisted the bell’s effect and continued pushing forward.

This person was even a Mage as well!

"Suppression Field!" and a glowing dome spread across the forest, weakening her aura. It was a Skill that affected only the opponent!

Raze cursed. She pulled another item from her belt...

Dragon Scale Charm!

Crunch!

She crushed it in her hand, and flames surged around her, burning away the suppression field for a few seconds.

She dove with the halber in her hand and cut through the dome’s caster before the charm’s effect faded.

Thud!

Although she was able to eliminate several strong Survivors in just a few moments, she knew that it was not good for her.

Her stamina was draining fast. She had already used many of her remaining tokens, and now the bell was on cooldown once again... Her trump cards were dwindling.

Alexander’s forces pressed harder, their suppression charms and various throwing items were thrown towards Raze. Her satchel was nearly empty, and her stamina was getting drained really fast. She knew she couldn’t keep running.

"Roan... I need you!" she shouted as she made up her mind...

The tattoo on her arm burned, and with a roar that shook the forest, Roan finally emerged!

This time, Roan assumed a massive form! 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚

His huge wings tore through the canopy...

The members of the Phoenix Phalanx immediately felt the pressure as they finally saw the Dragon that they wanted to obtain!

But Alexander’s smirk never faded. "Now! Bind him!"

Dozens of Dragon Seal Talismans ignited at once, chains of light shooting toward Roan’s wings and claws. Raze’s eyes turned cold as she saw this...

She had expected this. She crushed her own charms in rapid succession...

They were her remaining trump cards!

Dragon Ward Charm, Scale Resonance Charm, Soulbond Talisman, and several more Lightning Talisman targeting the casters of the Binding Seals!

Barriers were triggered around Roan, clashing against the binding chains.

For a moment, the seals failed...

Roan groaned as he immediately seized the chance. His chest expanded, and he unleashed Dragon’s Breath!

Roooaaar!

Thanks to the brief moment that Raze bought, Roan’s Fire Breath consumed the forest.

Fire poured out, and it seemed endless as it burned the trees, the ground, and anything alive in a tidal wave of flame.

Dozens of survivors screamed as they burned, but an elite Survivor raised her staff and triggered a powerful defense, blocking most of the inferno. Only a few dozen fell from that Fire Breath!

Raze’s eyes widened in horror.

’Even Roan’s breath... blocked.’

Then the seals continued to pour down, targeting Roan!

The talismans struck again! Chains of light wrapped around Roan’s wings, his claws, his neck. He roared in pain, thrashing, but the seals tightened.

"Roan!" Raze screamed... It was as if they had expected her to be the one hunting Niles... They actually prepared too many items that could make Roan, her powerful dragon, feel so weak!

Raze greeted as her teeth as she leapt onto his back...

She activated Dragon Knight Skill...Soul Synchronization, merging her vitality with Roan’s. Pain lanced through her body as the talismans tried to consume them both, but she resisted, pouring her strength into him.

Her halberd glowed, roots bursting outward as she activated another Dragon Knight Skill, Verdant Bind, tearing through the chains with living vines. For a moment, Roan was free!

But Alexander’s forces were not stopping at all! More talismans flew, more charms activated.

Raze’s satchel was nearly empty. She pulled her last trump card... It was the Blood Oath Charm. Crushing it, her aura reached its limit, vitality started draining from her veins, but her strength doubled! Using this meant her own life force would be consumed!

Still, she no longer cared!

She swung the halberd, cutting through three survivors at once. Roan roared, flames bursting from his wings, incinerating another wave. But the talismans kept coming!

"Shit! When will this end?!" Raze cursed.

Her vision blurred as sweat poured down her face. Every breath felt like fire in her lungs. She was running out of options!

At this point, Alexander’s voice rang out... It sounded calm and cruel. "You can’t win, Raze. Every move you make only delays the inevitable. Roan will be ours."

Raze’s lips curled into a snarl. "Over my dead body."

She activated Dragon Knight Skill... It was a Skill she obtained after reaching Level 70!

Final Gambit!

Her dragonheart that was linked to Roan beat loudly... Soon, her aura fused with Roan’s, as their souls burned as one.

At first, it looked as if flames started consuming them as a storm of fire surrounded them...

Survivors screamed as they felt the heat for a distance... Those unlucky even melted under the heat! Their talismans also shattered under the onslaught.

But the cost was immense. Her vitality plummeted, her body started trembling, and blood was already dripping from her lips.

Whoosh~

Roan staggered as the fire calmed... There were still some broken chains clinging to his wings, but he could finally move...

However, despite their exhaustion, Raze wasn’t stopping.

As soon as the fire weakened, she fought like a demon!

She had already put everything on the line! She’d rather die here and kill as many members of the Phoenix Phalanx as she could!

"Please stay alive, Raze..." Tundra muttered as he saw the area he was searching for...

Tundra wasn’t sure if he had arrived in time.

Fiona’s Rats, who had been shadowing Raze, were long dead, and without their reports, there was no latest information. The silence of the forest gnawed at him.

He slowed his dirt bike, scanning the surroundings. No sounds of battle. No clash of steel. No dragon’s roar. His nerves tightened.

Then he spotted it, he saw some broken branches, scorched earth, and scattered corpses. Traces of battle were everywhere.

He followed them, each sign pulling him deeper into the forest.

Soon, he found claw marks gouged into stone, the unmistakable traces of Roan. Human bodies lay charred, twisted, some still clutching shattered talismans.

The devastation told him everything, Raze had fought here desperately, and Roan had been summoned.

Then he saw it, a massive crater, the ground blackened and melted. This was where Roan had unleashed his fire breath. The sheer destruction made Tundra pause. He could almost feel the heat lingering in the air.

But as he continued searching, his heart froze.

An arm.

Half‑buried in ash, pale and scorched. Tundra’s breath caught in his throat as he noticed that familiar scars...

"No way... Oh god..."

He trembled as recognition hit him.

It was Raze’s arm.

"Fuck!" he cursed, panic surging.

He immediately opened the clan chat.

[ Tundra: Shane. Is Raze’sname still in the Guild Member List? ]

Shane, who had been waiting anxiously, replied almost instantly.

[ Shane: Yes! What happened? ]

Relief washed over Tundra.

[ Tundra: Good. I’ll let you know. ]

Her name was still listed. That meant she was alive. As long as she was breathing, there should be a chance to treat her.

After feeling relieved, he pressed on.

Following faint traces, blood, broken branches, scorched footprints, and, of course, using his own detection skills, he finally found her.

Raze was slumped against a tree in a hidden hollow, barely alive. Her armor was shattered, her body trembling, and there were even tears streaking her face.

She was probably crying...

"Raze..." Tundra muttered, seeing how she was barely breathing at this point. A mix of emotions stirred inside him at the sight of her helplessness.
