Global Awakening: Apocalypse Ender's Chronicle-Chapter 1045: The Desperate Move
Layla’s eyes glowed faintly as she absorbed another surge of Spirit Points from the bags of Spirit Stones.
Her aura expanded further, and the knives were full of life once again.
Soon, they all converged to form massive spears of silver, each one hovering above the battlefield.
Layla took a deep breath as she paused for a moment, targeting those siege machines and other important Survivors below.
"Take this..." With a downward motion, she sent the speaks made of silver knives crashing into siege machines and other survivors!
Boom! Boom! Boom!
The siege machines splintered instantly, collapsing under the sheer force.
Ballistae were destroyed, their crews impaled before they could reload. Siege rams were abandoned as knives tore through their supports, leaving them useless.
The battlefield was chaos.
Just like that, warriors screamed, commanders shouted, but none could withstand the relentless storm of silver knives!
The Sky Riders’ aerial superiority was gone as their gliders were shredded.
The Green Haven’s plant creatures were annihilated and their druids were slain.
At this time, Layla stood at the center of it all with her knives orbiting her like a crown of death. 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶
Raze finally allowed herself a smile. "You’re wiping them out. Great job..."
The enemy forces were already hesitating to move...
The ground was littered with corpses and shattered weapons. The battlefield was filled with the sound of knives slicing through flesh and steel.
Layla raised her hands once more, summoning another wave while Spirit Stones cracked around, feeding her endlessly. The knives spun faster, forming a wall of silver that stretched across the battlefield.
She thrust her arms forward.
The wall surged outward, cutting through the remaining infantry.
Thud! Thud! Thud!
Shields shattered, armor split, and warriors fell in droves.
Just like that, the survivors broke ranks, retreating in panic.
The defenders roared in triumph, their morale soaring.
Layla lowered her hands slowly, her aura fading as the knives clattered to the ground. The Spirit Stones dissolved into dust as their energy spent.
She then turned to Raze, her eyes were calm as if she didn’t just kill hundreds of people.
"Their advance is broken," she said softly. "Now, finish them."
Raze nodded, raising her sword. The turrets hummed to life, their barrels glowing as they locked onto the retreating forces.
The defenders cheered again, ready to unleash their final barrage.
However, seeing that many of his members died without being able to properly fight back, Arden’s face twisted with fury.
Since his aerial units were gone, their druids slaughtered, and his siege machines reduced to rubble, he knew that he had no other choice but to release the Recruitment Stones...
Although Layla’s storm of knives had dismantled most of the things he had prepared, he still had several tricks he could use!
Grinding his teeth, Arden activated the black Zombie Recruitment Stones he had!
Soon, a shockwave of necrotic energy rippled across the battlefield.
The ground trembled, and from the soil rose a towering figure, a Zombie King.
Its body was bloated and gray, its eyes glowing with sickly green light.
One after another, the stones shattered.
Soon, twenty Zombie Kings clawed their way out of the earth, each one different, each one radiating a unique aura of death...
"Awesome..." Arden chuckled as he saw them.
Arden couldn’t help but feel excited after seeing the various type of Zombie Kings...
The first was Smoker King Zombie. It was a hulking corpse that exhaled thick clouds of toxic smoke. The haze spread across the battlefield, choking defenders and obscuring vision.
Then, there were a few Acid King Zombies. Their flesh dripped with corrosive slime, and every step they made left pools of acid that melted stone and steel alike.
Of course, most of them were those normal king zombies like the Walker King Zombie. Unlike the others, this one was lean. Still, their movements were unnaturally smooth as they moved across the battlefield, ignoring any type of terrain blocking their path.
After that, there were also the Armored King Zombies. Its body was covered in bone protrusions, which looked like armor.
Finally, the slowest of them all are the Rot King Zombies. Their aura accelerated decay, causing weapons and armor to rust and crumble in seconds, if they were just common ranks! So only higher-grade weapons must be used against them!
"One Smoker King, four Acid Kings, ten Walker Kings, and five Rot King Zombies... This is incredible." Arden couldn’t help but celebrate at their sight.
The defenders gasped as the battlefield filled with these monstrosities.
But Arden wasn’t finished. He still had five others left...
He used them all and froze. His eyes widened in disbelief.
From the ground rose not another King, but something far worse.
A Zombie Lord.
And not just one.
Five towering figures emerged, each radiating an aura so oppressive that even the Zombie Kings had to instinctively look at them...
Arden’s hands trembled.
"Impossible... The chance of summoning a Zombie Lord with these stones is less than one percent... and I just summoned five!"
Eira’s face paled. "You’ve doomed us all... those things don’t recognize friend or foe!"
The Zombie Lords stood tall, each one distinct, each one a being that only a group of high-level Survivors could kill!
Soon, every survivor in the area received similar notifications!

The battlefield fell silent for a moment as both sides stared at the abominations.
Then chaos erupted.
The Zombie Kings charged forward, their varied abilities wreaking havoc. Smoke filled the air, acid melted defenses, and bone spears rained down.
The Zombie Lords followed, their presence warping the battlefield itself.
Arden’s face twisted between triumph and horror. He had unleashed a force that could annihilate Shane’s defenders, but it could just as easily consume his own army.
"This... this wasn’t supposed to happen," he muttered, sweat dripping down his brow. "Five Zombie Lords... this is beyond control."
Eira shouted at him, her voice filled with panic. "You fool! You’ve summoned monsters that will kill us all!"
But Arden only clenched his spear tighter. His gamble had already been made.
The defenders on the walls looked on in shock as the battlefield transformed into a nightmare. Layla’s knives had crushed the advance, but now twenty Zombie Kings and five Zombie Lords stood between them and victory.
Raze’s eyes narrowed. "So... this is your last trick...."
The war for Springriver Manor had just entered its darkest phase.
Twenty Zombie Kings and five Zombie Lords were tearing the ground apart, their auras warping the fight into a nightmare.
Layla’s knives had bought them time, but this was no longer a battle ordinary defenders could handle.
She raised her sword high and gave her command...
"Deploy the Aegis Mechs!"
The command echoed across the shelter.
Sirens blared, and the massive hangar doors beneath Springriver Manor began to rumble open.
The defenders turned and as the wall was breached, their morale didn’t fall as it actually surged upon hearing that the Mechs were coming!
Soon, the ground shook with the sound of awakening war machines.
From the shadows of the hangar, ten eight-meter-tall silhouettes emerged.
The pilots marched forward first, clad in reinforced suits, their helmets locking into place with a hiss of pressure.
Commander Xyrille, pilot of the Aegies Juggernaut and also the ace of the team, was leading the front...
There were also her friends, Aris, pilot of the Aegis Vanguard, Regina, pilot of the Aegis Phantom, and others.
Soon, the hangar shook as the mechs powered on. Engines roared, energy cores hummed, and weapons systems came alive.
The Juggernaut’s rotary cannons spun, their barrels glowing faintly as its shield locked into place. The Vanguard’s shoulder mounts were also ready, while the Phantom mechs swiftly positioned to hunt the Zombie Kings.
Just like that, the defenders on the walls erupted in cheers. The sight of the three Juggernauts, three Vanguard, and four Phantom Mechs was more than just firepower, it was hope!
Raze’s voice rang out again as she gave her command.
"Pilots, engage! Hold the line! I need at least 10 minutes!"
