Global Awakening: Apocalypse Ender's Chronicle-Chapter 1044: Final Trick
Soon, the landmines and other explosives detonated harmlessly against bark and vine. Spike pits snapped shut on writhing roots instead of human flesh.
Acid pools boiled against plant husks, dissolving them, but it saved the advancing warriors from the two Clans.
The Plant Creatures had done their job perfectly!
The defenders watched grimly as trap after trap was neutralized. The enemy had prepared well.
Raze clenched her fist as she watched the Plant Creatures and other enemies advance.
At this time, the heavy cannons and turrets mounted along the walls were just waiting for the enemies to get in range.
Their barrels were already glowing as they locked onto the advancing forces... But before Raze could give the command, a hand tapped her shoulder.
It was Layla, the woman with the Telekinesis Talent. Her eyes were filled with determination. It seemed that she had a plan.
"I want to try something," she said firmly. "Let me lead the attack."
Raze turned to her, surprised.
Layla had always been reserved, her talent used sparingly in training. But now, in the face of overwhelming numbers, she radiated confidence.
The enemy forces were closing in, their plant creatures clearing the last of the traps. Gliders were prepared to dive again, and the druids from afar were already chanting to summon more vines and plant creatures.
Raze hesitated only for a moment, then gave a nod.
"Show me what you can do."
"I will not disappoint..." Layla replied, stepped forward, and made preparations.
One by one, bags of Spirit Stones and bags of knife materialized around her. They were the items she needed, and all of them were from her System’s Inventory.
She needed those Spirit Stones since her next move requires a lot of Spirit Points.
She then closed her eyes briefly, and the stones cracked, releasing streams of pure energy.
The currents of Spirit Points flowed into her body, as she raised her hand...
Soon, the knives burst open in midair, spilling thousands of blades that hovered in formation.
They were all Exceptional‑Grade Silver Knives. Their edges shimmered faintly as they were enhanced to pierce even reinforced armor.
The sight was terrifying.
A storm of blades floated around Layla, controlled by invisible threads of her telekinesis.
Raze’s eyes widened. "That looks terrifying..."
Meanwhile, the enemy forces pressed forward, unaware of the storm about to descend. The Plant Creatures lumbered closer as their massive bodies continued clearing the last traps.
Soon, the gliders swooped low, preparing to drop another wave of explosives.
Druids also got closer and chanted their skills, summoning more vines to entangle the walls.
Finally, Layla raised her hand.
Then, in just a moment, the knives shot forward like a tidal wave.
The first volley shredded the Plant Creatures instantly. Roots and vines were sliced apart, their stems collapsed under the relentless barrage.
Acid pits were soon filled with these creatures as they all fell after being attacked...
Then, the second volley arced upward, targeting the gliders.
Knives moved like silver comets, piercing wings and cutting through harnesses.
"Aahh!"
"Help! No!"
"Save me!"
Warriors screamed as their gliders snapped apart mid-air. Soon, their bodies were tumbling helplessly to the ground.
They were also unlucky, as some explosives detonated prematurely, scattering fire across the advancing army.
"Hide!" 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚
"No! Focus on defense!"
"The flying daggers are coming!"
"Don’t be afraid!"
The druids had to cancel their chants as the third volley descended upon them.
Soon, knives tore through their wooden armor, splintering ironwood reinforced plates.
Curved blades clattered uselessly to the ground as healers and entanglers fell, their summons also collapsed into dust.
Layla’s aura pulsed again.
More Spirit Stones cracked, feeding her reserves. She absorbed the energy without pause, her telekinesis continued using the knives into new formations.
"More!"
She then spread her arms wide.
The knives formed a massive rotating sphere above her, spinning faster and faster until it resembled a silver storm. With a sharp gesture, she unleashed it forward.
The storm rolled across the battlefield, cutting through infantry lines.
Spears and shields shattered, warriors fell everywhere as their armor was pierced by dozens of blades. The ground was littered with corpses, silver knives embedded in stone and flesh alike.
"Hahaha! This is awesome! Layla, I didn’t know you’ve improved your Talent already." Raze couldn’t help but feel excited. It seemed that Layla’s Telekinesis Talent had advanced already.
Well, considering how many of them obtained Talent Advancement Crystal, it wouldn’t be surprising if Layla obtained it too.
Of course, Layla didn’t answer as she was too busy with her task...
She saw how the gliders tried to regroup, but she wouldn’t just let them drop bombs again... Her knives rose once more, forming spirals that chased them through the sky!
Each formation of knives tightened until the gliders were shredded mid-flight. Soon, there was a rain of blood, flesh, and debris onto the battlefield.
The defenders on the walls cheered, as their morale was lifted...
They hadn’t even started the real battle, and they were already winning!
"Well done!"
Raze watched closely, analyzing every move. Layla’s control was flawless, she wasn’t just throwing knives randomly. Each strike was calculated, each volley aimed to maximize destruction.
She had dismantled the enemy’s advance piece by piece.
The commanders of the Sky Riders and Green Haven Clans shouted orders desperately.
Arden raised his spear, trying to rally his aerial units, but another wave of knives cut him off, forcing him to retreat behind his troops. Eira also summoned vines to shield her druids, but the silver blades sliced through them like paper.
"Tsk... You’re leaving me with no other choice." Arden muttered as he prepared to use his last trick.
Initially, he wanted to use this method once they managed to breach the wall or when they needed to retreat...
However, even if he could charge right now and destroy the wall to create a path, he would have to endure the attacks of enemies from all sides. He could never do that without the help of the gliders above and the druids below, who were supposedly ready to support him.
With that in mind, he might as well throw this out...
Arden finally took out a pouch from his Inventory.
This pouch contained over 20 or so black stones.
Eira, who was not too far from him, realized what he was about to do...
"What?! Zombie Recruitment Stones, right now?! Those things don’t identify friends or foes!"
