Capítulo 1020: Unexpected Request 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺

A few minutes earlier, Fiona had already sent her rats to scout the surroundings above the waterfall shelter.

The swarm moved silently across the frozen rocks as they easily slipped through cracks and crevices. Then, with their tiny eyes feeding her vision, she was able to obtain a lot of information.

After some time, what she found left her stunned.

Three Zombie Lords stood above the cliffs. Their figures weren’t that huge compared to many Zombie Lords. However, they were strangely knightly in appearance.

They wore full metal armor with their weapons as blades and spears sheathed on their back…

Fiona wasn’t sure if they could use those weapons, but even if not, they were still dangerous for sure.

‘Knight Zombie Lords?’ Fiona thought as she found their appearance intriguing.

Unlike the mindless hordes, these Lords always carried themselves differently.

This time, however, it was on another level. They looked so disciplined, as if they were commanders of an army.

Around them, there were hundreds of lesser zombies waiting for orders…

Some Walker Zombies were moving in circles, Runner Zombies darted across the snow like hunting hounds, and Crawler Zombies clung to the cliff faces.

Behind them, the high-tier Zombies were also present.

Most of them were Hunter Zombies crouched like predators… There were also Tyrant Zombies that were punching stones from time to time.

It didn’t end there!

As her rats moved, she also discovered the presence of Licker Zombies… Their long tongues, like whips, would slam the ground from time to time, creating some noise…

Then, there were Siren Zombies wailing faintly with their cries echoing through the valley.

Well, they were the reason why there was a sudden earthquake!

Still, Fiona shuddered at the sight…

The shelter of the Survivors was actually so close to a Zombie Territory.

‘These guys are brave…’ Fiona mused.

What she was seeing was not chaos. It was a formation… An army!

Fiona’s heart raced as she controlled her rats, informing Shane through one of her messengers hidden in his jacket.

Shane’s eyes narrowed as the rat whispered the report. “Mhmm? There’s a Zombie Lord outside… above the waterfall?”

Vince, standing nearby, was impressed after realizing that Shane had noticed. “Yes… that’s our protection. No one dares to raid a place guarded by three Lords.”

But Fiona wasn’t finished. Her rats moved, slipping past the patrols, crawling through cracks in the cliffside. And then she saw it.

A massive metal gate, half‑buried in ice and stone.

Its surface was scarred, rusted, but faint paint still clung to it.

Letters, barely visible, spelled out a name that made Fiona’s blood run cold.

BioGenix.

She gasped and immediately relayed the discovery.

Shane froze when the rat delivered the message.

“BioGenix…” he muttered…

Based on what he had found out during various explorations in ruins and information provided by the system, it was the biotech company that had once cooperated with the World Government to create Super Soldiers.

Their experiments had gone wrong, unleashing a stronger mutated Zombie Virus that destroyed the world instead. Shane had already discovered the ruins of their smaller branches before. He found blueprints, bioweapons, serums, fragments of research, but this… this was different.

The large metal gate showed that it wasn’t just a small branch… It even felt like it was a fortress. A major branch.

Perhaps it was even the main facility of the company before it disappeared! Furthermore, three Zombie Lords were guarding it, making it highly suspicious.

Shane clenched his fist. Aside from recruiting these people in Waterfall Shelter, he still had to attack the Overlord Clan, which would happen in just a day or two… After all, the Floating Fortress was getting closer and closer.

‘Maybe we can explore this place after the matter with the Overlord Clan.’ Shane mused.

After all, he also needed more strength to deal with the Zombie Lords and their lackeys. He couldn’t do this alone.

The battle would also be huge, and perhaps, he had to evacuate everyone in the Waterfall Shelter first…

Since his Floating Fortress could carry more than 500 people and the shelter only had about 100, then it was perfect…

The rat twitched again, Fiona’s voice echoing faintly through its squeaks.

“Shane… the Lords here looked special… You have to bring an army. Don’t sneak in alone.”

“Of course… Don’t worry, I will bring my army to raid this later once the Overlord Clan’s branch has been dealt with.”

***

As Shane was still deep in thought about the BioGenix facility and the three Zombie Lords, he felt a tap on his shoulder.

It was Vince.

“The one who summoned the creature to protect our shelter… she sent someone,” Vince said quietly.

Shane turned his head slightly, his eyes narrowing. “Who?”

Vince gestured, and a small figure stepped forward. It was just a child, no older than ten, with a nervous expression. The boy bowed his head respectfully before speaking.

“Sir… Katrina wants to meet you.”

Shane raised a brow. Katrina… so that’s her name.

Vince smiled faintly, almost relieved. “Go on, Shane. She doesn’t ask for anyone lightly. If she wants to see you, it must be important.”

Shane nodded once. Without another word, he followed the child deeper into the cavern.

The path was narrow, lit by faint light orbs. The air grew warmer as they approached a secluded chamber. Shane’s senses sharpened as he checked the surroundings for any traps.

He was curious not only about Katrina herself but also about the creature she had summoned. He couldn’t sense it anywhere, not even with his detection abilities. That alone was unusual. Where is it hiding? And why does she want to meet me?

The child led him to a large tent placed in the far corner of the shelter. The entrance was guarded by two wolves, their eyes glowing faintly in the dim light. Although they looked dangerous, they weren’t threatening. They didn’t growl or make any noise, but their gaze followed Shane closely as he stepped inside.

Within, the atmosphere was quiet. A faint herbal scent lingered in the air, mixed with the warmth of a small fire. On a bed of furs lay a woman—Katrina.

Her skin was pale, and although she didn’t look injured, she looked weak. To Shane, she resembled a paler version of Fiona, though with brown hair instead.

Despite her frailty, her eyes opened as Shane entered, sharp and intelligent.

“You’re the one they call Shane,” she said softly.

Shane studied her carefully and nodded. “Yes… And you’re the summoner. The one who called a creature strong enough to guard this place. I’ve been trying to sense it, but no matter what skill I use, I can’t find it at all.”

Katrina smiled faintly at his words. “That’s good news. If the Top 1 Survivor couldn’t sense it, then it means I did well.”

She spoke with quiet confidence, and Shane realized she knew exactly who he was. She must have been active in the Chat.

“I thought I wouldn’t be recognized here,” Shane muttered.

“That…” Katrina gave a helpless smile and shook her head. “That’s because there are only twenty-four Foreign Survivors here in the shelter. The others were recruited from the Stones or absorbed Scavengers.”

She paused for a moment, glancing at the child who had brought Shane before continuing.

“About the creature… It is simply hidden well, or perhaps out of your detection range right now. Thanks to the Reputation Store, I obtained a decent item to conceal its presence. You won’t sense it unless I allow it.” Katrina spoke with confidence.

“Ahhh… so it’s because of that.” Shane finally understood, and he could accept that explanation.

The items in the Reputation Store were unpredictable at times. It wasn’t surprising that such an item would be sold there.

“That must have been expensive,” Shane muttered, knowing that the Reputation Store could easily eat up a huge amount of points.

“That’s right… But the reason I called you here is because of our situation. I don’t think we can sustain our current living conditions anymore. We’re not progressing, and if this continues, the next Zombie Wave might kill us all.” Katrina revealed.

She may not be the leader of this Shelter, but she could make such a decision after the elite Survivors of the clan were killed during the Red Night Event.

Previously, her role was only to support the elite team with her small animals that would scout areas, and those larger animals that would carry luggage. However, almost everything was now being relied on her.

She couldn’t continue like this.

Needless to say, Shane was already smiling after hearing those words! However, he knew that he had to ensure that the value of his Clan was recognized, and he had to negotiate properly.

After all, many Survivors wanted to join his Clan.

As a matter of fact, if he posted in the World Chat that he was recruiting people to join his shelter, thousands would immediately volunteer.

“So you want me to accept your people in my shelter?” Shane asked.

He was expecting her to nod, but her next words stunned him.

“No… Just accept me in your clan!” Katrina hastily replied.
