Glamour and Sass: A Rejected Bride's Revenge-Chapter 106: Family’s heirloom
Chapter 106: Family’s heirloom
Chapter 106
While Emma was still in the car, she immediately told the news about her reunion with Steven to Alex and Ethan. Ethan was naturally thrilled.
Alex’s voice suddenly came from behind them.
"Uncle!"
Alex had been waiting downstairs for Cecilia and Emma. Today was the day the four of them were supposed to reunite, and he had been way too excited. But just a moment ago, Emma sent him a message saying the reunion had to be postponed and asked him to inform Ethan.
He hurried upstairs, but he was just a step too late. Ethan had already mentioned it to Steven.
He could only desperately signal to Ethan, to which the latter understood that a change had occurred. The problem was that he had already spoken out, making him stare at Steven awkwardly.
On the other hand, Steven was frowning at him.
"What daughter? You’re talking nonsense again, aren’t you!"
Ethan looked down at Alex, hoping Alex would save the situation.
‘Why didn’t you tell me earlier? Hurry up and save me!’
Alex reluctantly walked up to Steven, awkwardly pretending to adjust a skirt.
"Dad, do I look like a daughter to you?"
Steven struggled to maintain his facial expression. Ever since Alex had been hanging out with Ethan, he hadn’t been acting normal. Now, he was wearing skirts and asking him to treat a perfectly good boy as a girl? Ethan must really miss having a niece to this point.
"Ethan! If you keep teaching Alex random things, you will be off to our African branch to dig coal!"
Ethan was scared out of his wits, cold sweat dripping. Just then, Sam, one of the butlers, walked over.
"Mr. Lawrence, someone’s here."
Steven shot Ethan a warning look before quickly putting on his gray suit jacket, briskly walking downstairs.
It seemed Cecilia had arrived.
He excitedly walked to the front door. The butler intended to open the door, but Steven stopped him. He wanted to do it himself.
He swung the door open wide, a noticeable smile at the corner of his eyes.
"You’re here!"
The person outside looked at him in surprise, then smiled.
"Yes, I’m here."
His smile froze.
"Why is it you?"
Outside the door wasn’t Cecilia, but Amy.
Amy was wearing a black mermaid dress today. Paired with a lustrous pearl necklace, she had wavy hair and exquisite makeup, making her look mature and elegant.
"Why?I’m not welcome?"
"You seem to be in a good mood today. Are you expecting someone?"
As she said that, she turned to look outside the door, which was empty.
Steven regained his polite and distant expression, stepping aside to let her in.
"No, come on in."
She carried a delicate gift box as she said to him, "Grandma is still recovering, so she couldn’t attend such a lively event. She sent me to bring you a gift."
Steven nodded without speaking. She noticed he hadn’t gone inside yet, so she raised the gift in her hand.
"This is something Grandma personally picked for you. Aren’t you going to open it?"
Steven glanced outside, his eyes sinking before he followed Amy into the living room.
‘Why isn’t that woman here yet?’
Amy entered the living room and sat on the sofa, opening the gift box.
Steven, Ethan, and Alex sat on the sofa, looking at the gift with some surprise.
Inside the box was the Lawrence family’s heirloom; a diamond necklace.
The necklace was passed down from the eleventh century, encrusted with eighteen hundred diamonds of various sizes. In the center of the necklace was a flawless pink diamond, shining brightly even in dim light.
But what was even more surprising than the value of the necklace was its significance.
This necklace was traditionally passed down to the Lawrence family heir’s wife.
Marianne suddenly gifting this necklace to Steven was a clear sign that she recognized him as the Lawrence family’s successor, and he would be the one to determine the necklace’s recipient.
Amy eyed the necklace with a gleam.
"Is Grandma urging you to get married?"
Steven understood Marianne’s implication, and Cecilia’s face suddenly flashed through his mind.
On the other hand, Ethan marveled at the necklace’s magnificence.
"This is the first time I’ve seen this necklace. It’s beautiful..."
Alex looked at the necklace, thinking silently to himself.
‘If Mom wore this necklace, she would surely look gorgeous.’
Amy’s fingers gently caressed the necklace’s diamonds, musing aloud.
"I wonder who will eventually wear this necklace..."
As everyone admired the necklace, the doorbell suddenly rang again.
Steven got up to answer the door, but she stopped him.
"With so many people around today, it’s better if you put this valuable item away for safety. I’ll get the door."
He thought for a moment, seeing no car outside and assuming Cecilia hadn’t arrived yet. He nodded and took the necklace to his room.
Amy stood up to open the door.
As she opened it, Cecilia’s face unexpectedly appeared before her. She was surprised to see her and Emma next to her.
"Why are you here?"
