Glamour and Sass: A Rejected Bride's Revenge-Chapter 107: Refused at door
Chapter 107: Refused at door
An hour ago, Cecilia was about to discreetly ring the doorbell at the Lawrence family’s residence. However, Emma suddenly recalled she hadn’t prepared a gift for Steven, so the two hurried off to buy a gift.
Emma had been so excited these past few days that she forgot about it. When Cecilia asked her what gift she had for Steven, she realized she hadn’t gotten anything yet.
Ordering online would be too late now, so they had to drive to a nearby mall.
But after a long search, Emma couldn’t find anything satisfactory, and they eventually returned empty-handed.
If they didn’t return soon, they would really miss the birthday party.
Walking behind Cecilia with a downcast expression, Emma suddenly had an idea.
Cecilia only said not to reveal her identity, so she could go with the original plan and give her mom to Steven as a gift. This way, she could rightfully call him "Dad."
Thinking of this made her happy again. ‘Mom, I’m really smart!’
They parked the car and walked to the Lawrence family’s villa, ringing the doorbell. To Cecilia’s surprise, it was Amy who had answered the door.
"Why can’t I be here?"
Amy realized she was being rude, as in her memory, the Morrison family was never on the guest list for Steven’s birthday parties.
To attend such a private party, one needed to be recognized in Star City’s various industries.
"I’m sorry, Miss Morrison, but this event requires an invitation. Without it, you can’t enter."
She added another remark, "After all, it’s a private party."
Cecilia raised her eyebrows slightly.
"I don’t have an invitation. You can directly call Steven."
Amy stepped back, showing a helpless expression.
"Steven is currently busy with something important. I know him well; he always means what he says. Without an invitation, there’s nothing I can do."
With that, she closed the door.
Cecilia stood behind the door and chuckled coldly.
‘Know him well? A private party?’
‘Steven Lawrence, your house is really lively...’
Amy returned to the living room just as Steven came out of a room. He looked toward the entrance door.
"Who was that just now?"
She waved her hand dismissively.
"Someone without an invitation trying to attend the party in hopes of talking to you—nobody worth your attention."
He said nothing more; people like that showed up at his door every day, so they were hardly worth noticing.
He checked his watch frequently, glancing outside numerous times.
‘Why isn’t Cecilia here yet?’
‘Could it be......she stood me up?’
‘She clearly suggested she would be attending my birthday party, but now she’s not showing up or saying a word. Does she think the Lawrence family’s house is somewhere she could come and go as she pleases?’
Ethan was puzzled as well, as he could tell Steven was waiting for Cecilia. She had already arrived, so why wasn’t she coming in?
Seeing Steven’s impatience, Amy inquired again.
"Steven, are you expecting someone?"
Agitated and not wanting to engage in a conversation with her, he tersely responded, "No."
She felt relieved, worried that her barring Cecilia might anger him since she had saved Marianne before. However, since she didn’t even receive an invitation, Cecilia must not mean much to him.
She likely only wanted to use her past actions for the Lawrence family to join the party.
Good thing she had blocked her.
"Since not, let’s start the party soon. Time’s ticking."
Just as Steven was about to agree, Alex approached while staring at Steven with concern.
"Dad, you didn’t send Mom an invitation?"
Steven was startled, thinking Cecilia could enter without formalities. Had something gone wrong...?
Realizing something, he quickly headed to the door and flung it open.
Cecilia was just about to leave with Emma when they heard the noise, turning around to see Steven. She shrugged.
"Mr. Lawrence, where’s my invitation?"
Seeing her truly there, his mood instantly lifted.
He walked up to her with a smile.
"You don’t need one."
Emma muttered in a muffled voice, "But your servant insisted we should have one!"
He paused, realizing Emma was also here today as he looked toward the small figure beside Cecilia.
