Ghost Exorciser: Is Loved By All-Chapter 823: A Little Help
Chapter 823: Chapter 823: A Little Help
Qiao Li blinked.
Her heart jumped a little. That... did sound nice.
She missed Holea so much. If she married someone else, who knew how far apart they’d be?
But then, her eyes darkened.
No. freeweɓnovēl.coɱ
This was exactly the kind of trick Ou Lin would pull.
He was just scared of losing her. He didn’t love her, not really. He just didn’t want anyone else to have her.
And if she gave in now, he might go back to his old words again... "I only stayed with you because of your family."
Her hands clenched.
She glared at him and said boldly, "None of that matters."
She yanked her hand away.
"Leave," she said clearly.
"I mean it."
Ou Lin stood still for a moment... then slowly turned and walked out, his heart breaking with every step.
And Qiao Li?
She stood alone in her room, chest rising and falling, tears stinging at the corner of her eyes.
Ou Lin walked out of Qiao Li’s room slowly, like his feet were too heavy to move. His face was pale, and his eyes were blank. It felt like his heart had just been crushed into dust. He didn’t know if he would ever feel okay again.
As he reached the top of the stairs, he stopped.
Mrs. Qiao was standing there.
Her arms were crossed, and she had one eyebrow raised. She didn’t look angry — but she didn’t look happy either.
Ou Lin quickly stood up straight and forced a small, nervous smile.
"Good evening, Auntie," he said, his voice soft. "Qiao Li is back in her room. She said she’s just tired... she’s okay."
Mrs. Qiao nodded slowly. But she didn’t move.
Just when Ou Lin thought maybe she hadn’t heard anything from earlier, she spoke in a calm but sharp voice.
"What happened between you two?" she asked. "Why did Qiao Li turn you down like that? Even when you... proposed?"
Ou Lin froze. He looked at the floor.
"I... I messed up," he whispered.
Mrs. Qiao’s expression changed. Her face turned cold.
"Did you cheat on her?" she asked sharply.
Ou Lin’s eyes widened. "No! Never!"
"Did you take another girl’s side in front of her?" she asked, her eyes narrowed.
"No," he said again, shaking his head.
"Did you insult her clothes? Or say something about splitting property after marriage?" she added quickly.
"No, Auntie! I didn’t say anything like that," he said firmly.
Mrs. Qiao sighed and finally relaxed a little.
"Then what did you do?" she asked quietly.
Ou Lin looked at her with guilt all over his face.
"She... came to me..." He said softly, "When the Ou family was going through... everything. The bankruptcy, the enemies, all of it."
He swallowed hard.
"I didn’t want her to suffer with me. So I said things to push her away. I told her harsh things. I didn’t mean it... but she took it seriously. And now... she’s dating someone else. A senior from her college."
Mrs. Qiao raised an eyebrow again.
"Well," she said slowly,
"I don’t remember you ever saying — like Qiao Li did — that you’d only marry her and no one else. Maybe you never loved her as much as she loved you."
Ou Lin’s head snapped up.
"No!" he said, louder than before. "That’s not true. I loved her. I’ve always loved her."
Mrs. Qiao looked at him, unsure.
Ou Lin continued quickly, his voice full of emotion.
"I read every single letter she ever wrote me. Everyone. I kept them all. And when she said she’d only make me her boyfriend, I used to say in my heart that I’d only ever have her as my girlfriend."
He took a deep breath.
"I didn’t know when was the right time to tell her. I wanted to wait until I could protect her. But everything in my family was a mess. I couldn’t bring her into it."
Mrs. Qiao stared at him. Her expression softened a little.
She nodded slowly.
"You’re right. If Qiao Li had been dating you back then, she might’ve been dragged into all that danger. Even your sister... she wasn’t herself. What if she had hurt Qiao Li?"
Ou Lin lowered his eyes. "Exactly."
Mrs. Qiao sighed. "You’re really unfortunate, Ou Lin."
Ou Lin looked up quickly.
"Is there... any way I can get Qiao Li back?" he asked hopefully.
Mrs. Qiao raised an eyebrow again. "What do you think she is? A toy? Something you can just get back?"
Ou Lin shook his head fast. "No, that’s not what I meant!"
Mrs. Qiao looked at him closely.
"Even if I beg her to go back to you," she said slowly,
"Qiao Li will only think you’re using her parents now to control her. She’ll hate that. She won’t see how much you love her — only that you’re desperate."
Ou Lin’s eyes widened.
He hadn’t thought about it that way.
But... wait.
That meant she might help. Just not directly.
He perked up a little and asked, "Auntie... would you help me? Maybe not in front of her... but somehow?"
Mrs. Qiao smiled slightly. "And what will I get if I agree?"
Ou Lin didn’t even pause. "I’ll bring Yu Holea and Qiao Li to Qiao Mansion one day every week."
Mrs. Qiao’s eyes lit up.
That offer sounded very tempting.
But she crossed her arms again and said, "Still not enough."
Ou Lin thought for a moment.
Then he said slowly, "Then... I promise, if Qiao Li and I get married... our first child — if it’s a son — will take the Qiao family name."
Mrs. Qiao’s eyes widened in surprise.
That was a big promise.
Very big.
Her mouth twitched, like she was trying not to smile.
Mrs. Qiao’s lips curled into a pleased smile.
"Now we’re talking," she said with a light laugh. "If you’re willing to go that far, then I don’t have any problem anymore."
Ou Lin’s eyes lit up.
"Really?" he asked, unable to hide his happiness.
Mrs. Qiao raised a finger and said firmly, "But let me be clear. If you ever go bankrupt again, I won’t hesitate to take my daughter away from you."
Ou Lin nodded seriously. "That’s okay. I understand. I love Qiao Li too much to let her suffer... even if that means letting her go one day."
Mrs. Qiao looked at him quietly for a second. Her eyes softened.
After a short silence, she said, "Well, it just so happens that the Qiao Mansion is pretty quiet these days. My two sons are always busy with their work, and I’ve been feeling a little bored."
She smiled slyly. "So maybe you could stay here for a month or so. Think of it like a vacation."
Ou Lin’s eyes brightened like the sun.
He instantly understood what she meant. She was giving him a chance. A big one.
He quickly smiled and said, "Well, since every other room is taken, I guess I should take the one... right next to Qiao Li’s."
Mrs. Qiao chuckled. "You’re smart, boy."
Then she said calmly, "I’ll talk to your parents. They won’t say no to me."
Ou Lin was so happy, he almost bowed. "Thank you, Auntie! Thank you so much!"
Mrs. Qiao nodded and then leaned in closer.
She motioned for him to come near.
Ou Lin walked closer quickly.
Mrs. Qiao whispered, "You know, sometimes girls need a little push... and a little pull."
Ou Lin blinked in confusion. "Push and pull? What do you mean?"
Mrs. Qiao smirked. "I mean, don’t give up just because she said no once. She’s not married to that college senior. So what if she’s dating him? Dating is not forever."
Ou Lin frowned. "That sounds a little wrong..."
But he couldn’t hide the small smile that crept across his face.
Mrs. Qiao gave him a knowing look.
"If I hadn’t done some digging and found out that her ’perfect senior’ actually likes Qiao Li’s wealth more than her, I might’ve never given you a chance."
Ou Lin’s eyes sparkled. "What? Then he shouldn’t be dating Qiao Li at all!"
Mrs. Qiao smiled. "Exactly. But it’s up to you now... how you win her heart back."
Ou Lin nodded quickly. "I’ll do my best. Thank you! Thank you so much!"
Once Mrs. Qiao left, Ou Lin turned toward Qiao Li’s room and smirked.
He whispered under his breath,
"No one’s stopping me now. Not even her. I admit it—I’m not a good guy. I’ve got a low bottom line... and I’ll destroy whatever she has with that senior. I’m getting her back."

The Next Morning
Qiao Li opened her door, planning to head downstairs.
She was still a bit tired. Her night had been filled with strange dreams and restless thoughts.
But as soon as she stepped out, she froze.
The door right next to hers opened with a small click.
And out stepped...
Ou Lin.
He was wearing a plain white T-shirt and black trousers. His hair was messy, like he had just woken up, but somehow that made him look even better than usual.
